  • Found out that Home Depot is strict about returns, even with unopened products and an original receipt.. 90-DAYS and then you are out of luck, zero chance, no returns, and NO store credit for future purchases.
    It's in the fine print....
    Good luck and hope you don't lose $60 like I did. Anyone need a Moen cartridge and cartridge puller...cheap?....

    There has to be limits on returns because people were abusing the system by stealing and then getting a store credit for something they didn't really buy, so you can thank the thieves for Home Depot getting more strict with returns.

      @@TheworldiseffdUP Nope. If its over 90 days, you are screwed. Right now they ban every single person who returned over $35 or attempt to return anything over $35, per one of the insiders from the HD store. Yep, even if you have the receipt if its after 90 days and over $35, you are screwed.

    Having worked for both Lowes and Home Depot, 90 days is their standard. All stores only keep 90 days of transactions and receipts older than that are non-existent, I've seen it. Also when you think about from the business prospective, it means that your purchase is deemed satisfactory and there was no problem with the product.

      Hi. I see your point. But sometimes we buy parts for a project we end up not using, and are unopened. Best Buy has one year, Costco has return anytime for life. OK, maybe 90 days at Home Depot but with receipt and unopened they should be more generous.

    so its the store's fault you put off the project and waited too long to return it? im confused. in what universe is home depot to blame? 90 days is great, they have to draw the line somewhere. you could have returned the item covered in poo prior to 90 days no problem... ive worked in customer service for years and this is a constant issue in society, nobody takes any responsibility for their actions, or in this case, lack thereof. just blame the store because they didnt do what you wanted even though the policy is clear as a cloudless day.

      Actually…. The trouble is expectation. I’ve been a customer of theirs for 20+ years (the entire time they have existed) and the policy allowed people to return items much later than 90 days up until recently. So, if you’ve built the expectation that late returns are acceptable then there ought to be a grace period allowing people to get informed and use to the new policy. His beef is legit. If I were Home Depot, I’d have had an instore campaign (signage, commercials and such) to let people know the change has happened rather than let them find out the hard way and be surprised.

    • @martinsinvesting
      @martinsinvesting  8 месяцев назад

      thanks for supporting me on this. Plus some projects require time and you might not finish in 90 days. Once the 90 days is over, even in the original packaging you get stuck with some random part. I see others disagree. Well, somehow places like Target, Sam's, and Costco are more forgiving.

    90 days is more than generous. Most stores have a 30 day policy, Apple has a 7 day policy or something ridiculou. You should take up any issues with the manufacturer after the very generous 90 days. Manufacturers usually provide warranty for a year or so, mych longer period than the return window.
