I just installed one of these and I can't hear my sump pump eject water anymore! Incredibly quite. Thanks for the great video and check valve recommendation :)
I used a check value off the shelf at Home Depot for like 8 bucks. I don't hear a thing and it's been working for years. Title of this video caught my eye since I never heard an noise from it before.
My plumber says you want to hear that BANG noise to make sure that the pump is working properly. With that silencer installed, you won't know if the pump has failed until too late.
I believe sewage ejector systems, which is a sealed lift tank needs to be vented to the roof. I would check the local and building inspector for more guidance.
I just bought one but haven't installed it. My handyman said not to do it because when it needs to be replaced in a few years I'll have to cut the pipes that lead into it. Please help me understand how it will be replaced when it wears out. THANK-YOU !!!
It comes with a smooth piece of PVC, on either end that I used to Fernco coupling to clamp on to the pvc pipe. So when I need to change it, I can loosen up the clamps on the Fernco and slide the old one out. Also, if you look at the video you see it’s knurled on the ends, those are like unions, and those can be unscrewed because if you were replacing it with the same check valve, you would unscrew those nuts and not even have to touch the Ferncos.
A bang like a book fell on the floor every time the pump stopped. Not a show stopper but annoying to say the least. Some plumbing telegrams the sound more than others.
I used the zoller it went completely quiet ours was so loud I could not believe the difference, when it went off in the middle of the night that was all I could take. Not a bang at all. Hat is off to zoller I was a bit skeptical but it worked very well.
The check valve is good...Except for that pump though, my grandparents have the same exact one and it makes the same humming sound that came be heard from upstairs.
It has one built in. You must have one on all sump systems that lift water over a few feet. Plus with 2 pump systems the water will go back through the other pump as one runs.
That's unbelievably quiet. Thanks for the recommendation Mr hardware!
always informative post.
It helps to have a friend testing some of this stuff. Never know who to trust these days.
I just got the Zoeller quiet check valve and it works great- quiet. Thank you Wayne

This is exactly what I've been looking for!! Thank you!

With an ejector pump like your. Does it needed to be vented to the roof or can it be through a side wall (no windows/doors intake in a 15ft area)

What did it sound like before?

How is it 2 years later, ..... thanks.
Still working fine.
adding amazon (or ??) links to where to purchase them in the description would be great. Having trouble finding a 4 inch valve.
Call the store, ask for Blair and give me the details of the plumbing and I'll get you a quote. 586

Maybe a rubber coupling on the discharge line will prevent the pump from humming throughout the house.
Hi have problems not have presure the fitins or pump whats can do
Mine is still loud 😔
It will change your life!
Why dont you need one on the backup ?

Its not a bang or a click, its a loud thud.
