If the noise start's happening again, move the valve up higher on the pipe about midway. Reduce the weight of water in the pipe, reduce the noise. ruclips.net/video/ZeggBBMuD_E/видео.html
It is great advice to stop the thumping but there is a consequence that may impact some people. The volume of water that returns to the pit/bucket. I had a 7ft lift and mine was hammering like crazy. I ended up installing two seperate valves to solve the problem, one high and one low. That worked and less water falling back into the sump pit.
Thank you for posting this, just had a replacement sump pump and check valve and a few days after the check valve was put on it developed a thumping noise just like yours, very annoying sound, going to order the quite valve from Amazon and thanks for providing the link to order it!! 😊
The thumping sound is really annoying. I have used a few types of silent check valves and none of them are able to completely get rid of the thump. For me there is always a little thump.
@@chaircoverschicago Yeah, I got the Zoeller quite valve and I went from the THUMPING where it shook everything down the pvc line, to complete silence, I can't believe it, well worth the 48 bucks.
Thanks for your video. I have tried two AYM check valves, the first one only last 10 months, the second one 11 months. They are vey quiet before 10.5 months approximately, then become noised check valves. I should try move them further from the pump.
I think the thumping has to do with "free" hanging pipes (copper pipe might make it louder). Both of my sump pumps discharge pipes run a few feet under a concrete floor with the check valves (like the on you started with) less than a foot of of the floor. I have never heard a thump even when they run at the same time. I have a T-Y right after the check valves all out of 1-1/2" PVC.
Maybe try a different check valve. It's been about 3 months and the thump has returned. I'm going to have to try a different check valve and will upload a new video to let you know how well the new check valve works.

Thank you. We had the same problem. We could hear thw clank all the way from pur bedroom that would wake us up at night. Took me 10 minutes to install.
@@jrnyace Let me know how it goes. I'm going to have to put in a new one but can't find time. My list of things to do or repair on the house keeps growing.
I'm confused by your 2020 update. Are you saying to still install the same type of check valve just higher up, or are you saying just to move something in the current setup higher up?
I actually replaced the pump with a zoeller about 2 weeks ago but kept the same silent check valve for now. It's really not that bad. I will keep it for a little while longer.
I hope mine is okay, it's only been a week. Sorry to hear yours didn't last. I'll have to do an update if it starts thumping. What did you do? Which one did you replace it with?
Mine only lasted about a year then it started thumping louder than my last one. Tried inspecting it, cleaning it of any debris/calcium/buildup and it made no difference. AY Mcdonald also ghosts you if you try to ask for help or a replacement.
Update: This one only lasted me about 3 months and the thump has returned. Frustrating. I'm going to have to try a different check valve and will upload a new video when I do. Update May 2020: I raised the check valve about 2 ft and the thump sound went away.
Okay!!!!! I'm confused!!!!! How are you getting water in your sump by running sink water somewhere else in the house??? Water in the sump should be ground water from the drain tiles around the house!!! If you are getting water in the sump from your fresh water plumbing you have bigger problems than the check valve!!!
A sewage basin/pit is similar to a sump basin/pit, except that it's for lifting sewage up from a basement bathroom to the drain system on the ground floor. Different purpose, similar concept.

Thanks. I'm going to try your idea when I get some time. My list of things to do around the house keeps growing.
I raised the check valve about 2 ft and it worked! The thump is gone! Now I don't have to buy another check valve! Thank you sir!

Thank you! I install a sewer pump for a basement bath room and change the check valve and have the same problem. Now i know why.
Glad to help
Perfect, thank you for video. I have that thumping problem too! Cheers

I think you are right. The free hanging copper pipes move a lot when the pump runs.
I'll be trying one soon thanks to the link. Wish I had your helper. 👨🔧 very nice to hear you work together. 💕

No problem. Which brand check valve did you install?
@@chaircoverschicago The Quiet Check Valve.

My quiet spring loaded check valve only lasted about a year ...spring must have worn out...
Thanks for the video! is it works for 1/2 inch pipe? I mean its fit for 1/2 inch pipe?
I think they have them for 2 inch and 1.5 inch pipe. The one I used is for 2 inch.
Mine does more of a machine gun sound instead of a thump. The plumber knows about it. He told me about quiet check valves.

I moved the check valve in the video up a little and the sound got quieter. Moved it up about 2 ft.
This is great. I need this too
I'm glad my video helped you out!
Thanks it works! !!!
No problem, glad it works.
Next time get the Zoeller one. It's the best out of all of them.

is that lead solder on drinking water?
id be more concened by the colour the water is that liiks like straight up river water.
I bought the same valve and after about a month it started making a thump sound. hopefully yours doesn't!

I got it mixed up in the video. I meant sewage pump.

get to the point....
Ok
The audio is really bad no conclusive proof of anything with your video
I agree, the sound could be better.
