  • Your choice of espresso cup affects the flavor, aroma, and temperature of your coffee. In this video, we discuss two types of drinkware: a double-walled glass cup and a ceramic cup. Each of these cups is designed for different coffee experiences. Learn which one to choose and when in this demo with Paul and John. decentespresso...

    Ceramic cups (Little Tipsy)
    - Perfect drinking temperature right away: Coffee brews at a high temperature which is often too hot to drink. When you pour an espresso into the Little Tipsy, the temperature drops about 8-14 degrees Celsius. This makes it the perfect drinking temperature right away.
    - Best for espresso: For flavor and temperature, the Little Tipsy is ideal if you prefer straight espressos with no milk.
    - Aesthetic materials: Matte porcelain on the outside, this cup feels great in your hands and it's easy to hold. Inside the cup, it's glazed and smooth. The smooth glaze allows the espresso oils to slide around and release their aromas.
    - "Tipped" design: Our cup angles out on one side, so you can enjoy the aroma of the coffee as you sip it.
    - Made for swirling: Do you swirl your coffee like a fine wine? Our Little Tipsy cup curves inwards like a wine glass, which concentrates the aromas and keeps your espresso from spilling out.
    - Dishwasher safe: Our ceramic cups can be easily washed in a dishwasher.
    - High-quality craftsmanship: We make our cups in Taiwan. The fine craftsmanship of Taiwanese ceramics is similar to Japanese ceramic wares.

Really cool to get your insights into why the drink-ware is like it is

Do you also offer latte size cups? I’m seeing a video on your website indicating such but not seeing any for sale

But what about the pointed nose compare to flat noses will it affect it?

It's kind of confusing, because you tip the ceramic cup in two different directions when talking about in in the video.
I'm assuming that the way you mean for it to be used is as you demonstrate when actually holding the cup to your mouth to demonstrate (drink from the more vertical, shorter-looking, inwardly-curved side while letting the outward-extending side hold captured scents for your nose), but when holding the cup in midair later you seem to demonstrate drinking from the other side.

As someone who is a mostly a latte/americano drinker, would getting the Decent be a waste of money since adding lots of milk would pretty much cancel out all the subtle flavours of the espresso anyway? Would a straight 9 bar machine be a better purchase for a latte drinker?

The DE1 can still do great milk based drinks, but if you know you perhaps love the Italian style but just in a larger size then stick with the 9bar machine for now and explore flow profiling later on in your journey.😉

Lever machines would also be great. Lots of control over bloom/pre infusion and you can get excellent expresso for affordable price. Plus it will last forever. You have the cafelat robot and flair 58 are good affordable lever machines. Theirs also lots more
