Did you have problems with the intermediate shaft seating back into the diff housing? I did the same repair on a q40 but didnt disassemble the intermediate shaft from the axle. The intermediate shaft pulled out enough to remove the diff. Once i got it back together the intermediate shaft wouldn't seat all the way back in the diff. Just wondering ifbyou had issues.
I bought a g35x and it was missing the fron5 driveshaft the front diff looks fine and undamaged just the bell housing is damaged but not leaking anything im hoping I can just throw in an ebay driveshaft for 75 bucks and see if my awd still works
@@grandenauto3214 I should be able to get it done in a couple hours, this is one of my easier cars to work on. Im finishing my 04 Jaguar S Type R right now.
Is it a similar fix on a q50? My diff and right front axle went out, Infiniti says they have to pull the engine to replace it or can it be done without yanking the engine?
helping my neighbor do this cause the car was sold to him with mismatched tires and blew up the front diff... we just snapped 2/4 subframe studs that are integrated into the chassis... the nuts looked fine from the bottom but the stud was super rusted and hidden. have to call mobile welder to come weld new studs... what a shit show.
I thought I heard a little clicking going slow around a tight corner... checked the front end and cv’s they were tight. Didn’t think to check drive shaft..... big mistake. When it let go, a couple days later, I was only going 20mph through a school zone.... it exploded!!! My shop was only a block away so I limped it there going 5mph. If I would have stopped and towed it... I’m not sure how much better it would have been??? Might have saved the diff??? Or not.
@@grandenauto3214 yikes!! Glad you are okay and your g35 as well. Well I have clicking noises and I have to tire off and the tie rods are solid, but as for my axles, the boots are torn and grease everywhere. So that would probably explain the clicking noise. Although it makes the noise when I accelerate and especially when I turn. The click only comes from my front passenger side. I got the replacement axle so I’m praying that this will be the solution because I’m so tired of not being able to drive my car.
@@KiiDKali look at the front u joint on the front axle.... make sure it isn’t dried out(rusty colour) and try and shake it.... if it moves around the joint is gone replace the driveshaft before it takes out the front diff. Mine did have 500,000km on it.🤷🏼 so it was well used.
@@grandenauto3214 clicking was indeed the axle. I’m so surprised it didn’t come apart while I was driving. It was in horrible condition. Only reason it didn’t completely pop off, was because the boot is still on the axle. Yikes
I'm looking at swapping mine to a 3.69 ratio and I really don't want to pull the motor. Hopefully the g37 is the same.
I'm looking to do the same thing. Did you end up doing it? and if so was it worth it?

How much was this service? I am having similar issue.
I just did it on my car, so we didn’t really track time. It’s a big job

Not sure what’s involved with the q50
Ever get this fixed? Currently have this issue

It's a shitty job at the best of times...
Did it make a noise??
