The advances seem pretty limiting, it forces you down the path of either admin, military or diplo. A better way (imo) would be to have a lead category, then a secondary, and a tertiary, that you can take say 6 in 1 group, 3 in another, and one from the last. It wouldn't make sense for Tunisian raiders to be taking 'debt and loans' and 'court accounting', and missing privateers and shrewd commerce simply because you've been forced down 1 path. It also means it would allow them to take naval glory or boarding parties too. This could lead to some really strong customization and roleplaying opportunities.
Wow, this is brilliant! You should send them this idea. I think it would work much better and be far more interesting than being locked into a guided path.
Extremely informative video! You didn’t really touch on the resources, one thing that would be in my top 10 list. I’m really curious on how they will shape our conquests in EU5.
I'd really love to see peace deals where both sides get and lose something! I don't understand how it might be that complex. They could just put a weight of how strongly does a nation desire a province/location (depending mostly on culture, trade, and value of the province) and how strongly they desire money (depending on debt and amount), vs how strongly they value their own provinces. Like if I'm France fighting Spain for the Netherlands they inherited, they'd probably accept to cede me more of Belgium if I return Roselló that I captured from them in a previous war. Or a greatly indebted Poland would be okay signing a peace with Brandenburg earlier if that means they get a lot of ducats in exchange for a few farmlands of Prussian culture they just recently got from the Teutons
really cool they used CK2's final start date for EU5, always did feel like that particular start date could have used more than CK2's mechanics, especially in regards to the entry of gunpowder and the aftermath of the Black Death

Very nice to see them taking the best feature from Total War Rome. Your population directly affecting your military numbers and vice versa is fantastic. It would be fun if you could move your pops similarly to that too
it would be cool to see the ck3 mechanic of capturing a ruler to get warscore, where the amount gotten could maybe scale with government type or absolutism vs liberty that is to say 50% for early monarchy, maybe 10% for a presidency, etc just not 100%, that would not be fun
I don't like the idea. EU focuses on the historical transition from despotism to a large bureaucratic political machine. Maybe they could add that in the first age and eliminate it after a few ages. Also, from a mechanics perspective, how would I implement that? Is it RNG? I don't like the idea of having +/-50% of my warscore up to rng, euiv ai getting forts at 7% progress was more than enough. So I don't like the idea from the game direction POV and from a mechanical PoV.

Could you explain how the research will work? You focused on IDEAS and skipped research. I preferred the EU1, 2 and 3 with the money being spent on the research. I would also appreciate if you could build up a strong nation and the game would be flexible about that (like in EU3) and not that some countries are automatically stronger than others (fixed like in EU4). Development would be closer to EU3 from what I can see so they return to the old schema. I can see the same with trade and not pre-fixed trade like in EU4. This is good! :) As for the start of the game, I would suggest year 1299 and not 1337. Why? Becuase it is the beginning of a new century - it is similar like EU3 has with IN NOMINE (1399). I think more middle ages period is needed in this game. Overall, I can see Paradox reverts much to EU1, 2 and 3 style and skipping mana generating points for ADM, DIPLO and MIL. This is good. I would like to speed up research by spending money than using some weird points spending system. The CONS from what I see is that the game looks like a step back in terms of graphics. I prefer beautiful paintings of characters rather than 3D-generated stuff. Please tell Paradox (if you would care) that what makes EU great is also the graphics centered around classical paintings, e.g. those beatufiul loading screens of EU4. I mean the character portraits to look classical painting-alike. That added this nice vibe and charm to every EU game. I still love EU2 opening with the classical music on.
I don’t like the new artillery system. It is really not historical, maybe in the Middle Ages the cannons were used to bombard but even in the 30 years war they were the key to winning a battle. Gustavus changed its use..
All they have to do is have an option to have the battles be fought in some way where the player controls the units, and yet, they still have yet to do it. IDK why. They have made games where you can control units why cant they do it in EU?
@@ZlewikkTV Total War has bare bones map control that is extremely cookie cutter, the battles are good but that is about it. IDK how people play with skipping 100% of the battles and only doing the map control, but apparently it is extremely popular. :)
As for the start of the game, I would suggest year 1299 and not 1337.

If you had to guess when would you say EU5 comes out?
Early 2026 I think
I don’t like the new artillery system. It is really not historical, maybe in the Middle Ages the cannons were used to bombard but even in the 30 years war they were the key to winning a battle. Gustavus changed its use..
He used light mobile cannon not just a lot of them
So basically Meiou mod but with less features.
Normies can't handle Meiou, their heads would explode.
@@AFrenchGuyIGuess Just like the computer running it.
wow nice
Grałbym.
1337 the leetest start date
I’m ready for imperator Rome: EU5 🙂↕️🙂↕️
That sounds like an insane amount of micromanagement, im not looking forward to that tbh
@@Rocek did you miss the part about full and part automations then?
All they have to do is have an option to have the battles be fought in some way where the player controls the units, and yet, they still have yet to do it. IDK why. They have made games where you can control units why cant they do it in EU?
That would be the worst, just play Total War honestly :p
@@ZlewikkTV Total War has bare bones map control that is extremely cookie cutter, the battles are good but that is about it. IDK how people play with skipping 100% of the battles and only doing the map control, but apparently it is extremely popular.
The closest game I have seen to what I was looking for was Grand Tactician: The Civil War, but that fell short in a lot of ways with the map controls.
Meanwhile fps and optimization in eu5 😏
Fps? Do u mean simulation speed?
Yeah PDX and optimization are bitter rivals apparently.
fps doesnt matter 60 stable should be good , optimization is more important esp in late game
i cant watch video because the game is l0oking to be so good
The Trade map looks wrong. Too large regions.
@@smftrsddvjiou6443 as said, the system will be dynamic, this is just a starting map. You can dhape it however you want to
