The Playing For Change organization could become a whole rabbit hole experience. Iko Iko, Gimme Shelter, The Weight, Everyday People, Biko, ... the list goes on and on. Check out their website to see what these guys are all about
Thank you so much for this great reaction Travis. Im so glad you understood the concept and could appreciate their mission. Hopefully you can check out other great songs by them. So many classics with their twist.
When I first saw "Teach Your Children" performed by the PFC traveling group live in Brazil, at first I didn't know what to make of the intro... clearly a superb guitar solo, but I wasn't sure it fit with the classic by CSN... I'm happy to say that although I think it didn't fit the 'classic,' it certainly did fit the equally-superb re-introduction of the classic song with a wonderful, wonderful 'twist' as you put it. Now it's my favorite version, and best of PFC's, or possibly second only to the inaugural 'Stand By Me' here... they are both - actually all - so, so great!
So glad you watched this! Great reaction, as always. I've probably shared this video with more people than any other, over the years. Its message is so special, and I love that it highlights so much talent around the world! ❤
Thanks, Travis! I discovered this organization a couple of years ago - and was totally blown away.. I have no affiliation.. just support them with a minor contribution... I appreciate you reaction.. another of my favorites was the version Marvin Gaye's What's goin' on... they actually have quite a few "celebrity" participants.. not just musicians, but others.. I love that they got architect Frank Gehry on one... lol
Playing for change had tons of great music done including musicians from the original songs and done just the Playing For Change Band but all are amazing!!!
Playing for change is wonderful. I recently re-watched Don't worry, be happy with children from around the world, always makes me happy. A totally different video I watched again recently is Michael Jackson's Heal the world, child prodigy edition. Posted about 5 years ago but still amazes
Stand by Me was my introduction to Playing for Change & while this is largely unknowns big names are also used & if you haven't reacted to the PFC "When the levee Breaks" l strongly suggest you do so as it is amazing & PFC needs all the promotion through these reactions it can get to help spread the good work they are doing. Hope to see your next reaction to Playing for Change
That was a fantastic video... I'm with you--the work that went into this and the recognition of these artists is excellent!! I'm going to share this thanks to you!!
Ben E King's version was my now 14 yr old granddaughter's lullaby when she was 5 weeks old. When she was fussy, it would put her right to sleep. This version is very beautiful and heartfelt!
YUP I totally agree with you Travis. I have been watching the videos these amazing people do. This one has me in tears but not for sadness, but for the incredible beauty in each and everyone of the souls in this video. They have done so many and you know my thought is something we ALL should stop and listen to the messages. Thank you for doing this reaction. You are not alone on this one. They have done a remarkable incredible (im at a loss for the words), cover of Led Zeppelin's When the Levee Breaks. Please take the time and listen to it. You should also listen to their cover of U2, I still Havent found what I was looking for.
That’s the guy who sings at the Cannery and Ghirardelli Square in SF! ( the first singer). Playing For Change has lots of great songs for you to watch!
Such a great idea to let people all around the globe play all these "old" songs this way. I still get tears in my eye even that I see them many times. It fills me with hope and love when I see them. Playing For Change - The Weight, Featuring Ringo Starr and Robbie Robertson is one I recommend. They have done so many. ruclips.net/video/ph1GU1qQ1zQ/видео.html
Oh, there are many.😊 For example Lean On Me, Higher Ground and Sitting On The Dock Of The bay. I don't know if it's something for a reaction video (maybe just something to enjoy by yourself), but I would recommend to check out the video "Train Passengers Sing Over the Rainbow!" : ruclips.net/video/xctzp0dp9uc/видео.html - I think it'll put a smile on your face. 🙂
Every song they did was incredibly uplifting and demonstrate the universality of music. You should check out all of their covers. My personal fav is their cover of Marvin's 'What's Goin' On?' w/ Sara Barielles who was a judge on the Sing Off with PTX ruclips.net/video/JEp7QrOBxyQ/видео.html A couple of other good ones: 'The Weight' w/ Ringo Starr ruclips.net/video/ph1GU1qQ1zQ/видео.html 'Peace Train' w/ Cat Stevens ruclips.net/video/0QpjR6-Uuks/видео.html 'Biko' w/ Peter Gabriel ruclips.net/video/jWNEr4eHL18/видео.html
RIP Grandpa Elliot ! What a loss for playing for change and the rest of us!! At Least we can look back on these videos
That's how I felt my first viewing. Roger, Grandpa and Clarence.

I miss the days of public music in New Orleans' French Quarter. Thanks for the video!!
I believe this was the first Playing for Change collaboration. Still my favorite but The Weight is quickly overtaking it.
