“don't add more time to civilization ,better add more civilization to time ”This sentence comes from the science fiction novel The Three-Body Problem, which is also about the universe, a great novel, and the design language is actually unified from the perspective of science fiction.
I liked this video as someone who is now on their 3rd keyboard, BUT your usual method has been absolutely perfect leading up to this when I was first getting into this hobby! At the start, I rejoiced when I found your channel, as you stuck out IMMEDIATELY from other channels. It wasnt because of the format of the videos, but because of how you present information. You don't assume a high level of knowledge, you're the absolute opposite of the MANY gatekeep-ey presenters that constantly throw shade and negativity around. The ones that have caused this hobby to have an intimidating reputation. It's not wrong to have opinions, but you preach that this is hobby is highly SUBJECTIVE, and try to teach the audience how to get what we want. Most importantly your humour and skill in teaching means the videos never feel too long and I still learn new things and enjoy your videos even if its the same format again. To be perfectly honest, this video would've probably not helped me out as much when I was very new to this hobby. I understand that is only a proportion of your audience and it's probably not a bad thing for this particular keyboard that isn't geared towards beginners. I love love love your videos, they've taught me so much. Thank you!
7:15 I believe this line comes from the second book of The Three-Body Problem novels. Although this line was translated to "Make time for civilization, for civilization won't make time." in its official English version, which is also confusing... Great video as always and the novels are also fantastic.
Makes sense since the original novel is in Chinese, and being a Chinese origin keyboard studio, I don't think they would even bother to read the English localized version for a properly translated quote. And I agree with you, the novels are great.
I love this format! Keyboard enthusiasts have seen build videos time and time again, so we don't necessarily need it every time. There are also plenty of build videos out there to reference for new and old enthusiasts. I think this shows more of your personality and the important stuff when considering whether or not to spend our cash.
EVO70 is one of my favorites with a left handed knob and macro buttons make it so easy to keep working with my pen/mouse/tablet with access to shortcuts on the right of the keyboard! I feel like anyone who's job uses a video/audio timeline would benefit from it.
I think one could also grab the F1-F8 keys and stick them into that macropad section and it wouldn't look too bad seeing as they're all the same profile. Although the profile not lining up with rows 2-4 might bother some people. Enjoyed the condensed review! I think it works for something like this that has some more noteworthy things to point out with this specific board, as most boards that are released nowadays are fairly similar to each other. I would've liked an additional sound test with at least plate foam and case foam as that does tend to alter the sound pretty significantly on most boards and would give us an idea of the board's range. But if a review like this is more sustainable and easier to do, then I'm all for it!
It's a very standard formal presentation method with this video. It's much different than the usual, but I find this sort of structure a little bit stiff. I like the wacky and random Keybored sometimes too!
“Have you heard about Pluto? That’s messed up.” ~ Burton Guster Jokes aside, agreed it seems like a pretty busy design, but I definitely commend the engineering when it sounds so full and not pingy with an aluminum plate. It’s all preference in the end, I’m sure someone will be into it!
Could you review the epomaker shadow x? I kinda like the format of it with the little screen on the side. Theres not too many videos on it so its hard to decide if It should be bought or not.
I like the format, I think it would be good to have multiple formats and switch it up from time to time. In regards to the keyboard, height has become a huge factor for me. I've almost always used a wrist rest. I would game sometime without one but many of my boards are a little high for that... then I got my Neo65 and it ruined me. Not only does the keyboard sound great but the smaller bezels and lower initial typing height are perfect for me.
Hi Scott, can you do a video comparing a 1.2mm pcb with flex cuts and a 1.6pcb without flex cuts? Interested to know the difference between flex and sound. I think the new Freya will have both pcbs but I am sure there are other boards out there!
Agree it does have overdesigned elements but still looks fairly clean from afar, could forgive the gimmicky solar system and slogan when they're mostly covered. Sound is subjective, I'm one who likes to throw in all the foam for the 'thock' and definitely a deskmat, that pounding on the space bar when the keyboard's against a stiff (is that marble?) table is pretty obnoxious indeed.
For $300, it is terrible. Considering the Jelly evolv is just a little more for much more premium feel, sounds, and quality. The Neo65 would be this keyboards biggest competitor, except the Neo65 is $79...... This keyboard would be only DECENT for $150..... It is not that good....
The Jelly Evolv gets wrecked by cheaper or equally priced kits funnily enough. It doesn't even sound particularly good if you don't build it the way it the intended way (basically without using all foams).
@@MrBeeastFan It's far from that considering many other boards that outclass it exist: Saab Pluto, TKD Cycle7, Mode Envoy, Arc60, KBD8X MKIII, Bauer Lite, Jris80, Martingale60, Hibi June... Feel is subjective. Sound wise however, Jelly Evolv only starts to shine once you load it with foam, which shouldn't be a requirement. Foam is a modifier, use it if you like it, not out of necessity. Plus it was still the usual QK shenanigans with them only allowing you to get one if you win a raffle... Big cringe.
@@impointr the raffle is cringe and corrupt but I like the jelly evolv over the jris, mode, Cycle7, hibi, june, those are the ones I'm familiar with idk bout the other ones. I flew to Guangdong china in hopes of getting a Jelly evolv cus that is where the manufacturing and most of the company of QK and owlabs are..... But i dint get one.... that may be why i desire it so much
This is the cringiest keyboard design I've ever seen. They could have a full numpad in the best possible position by adding ONE SINGLE more column. They think having a macropad that can't function as numpad is better than having a numpad that could function as macropad + 1 column?
You forgot about reason #4: maybe you just want it cause you want it? You don't always need a reason, in fact none of us *need* or had a good reason to buy many of the keyboards we have - we just wanted them :) (But yeah also some of the design choices are questionable here)
@@Keybored you'll fall in love)) i did 😄 kitted it out with green CeraKey caps (just letters and some accents) and now - every time i come to office - it gives me such a joy! PS my choice is sand-colored one 💚

"built-in macropad"
Isn't this an XT layout?
That's what I thought at first but it's missing the bottom row... They calling it a macro pad... Not sure what's more correct

Yup! Overall handsome keyboard

When does it come out and than where to buy
The format is simple 3 good vs 3 bad & we decide. ❤
Why not just go for something like a wind x r2 southpaw?

what kind of tape/material was included for the force break? looks kinda like electrical tape
poron
Beautiful video as always! Are you gonna make a video about the neo80 when it comes out?
Hmm not at this point. But if there is a lot of interest I may!
I mean, I would love one of your extremely scientific analysis of the sandwich mounting that uses copper pillars! @@Keybored
Avalon was a keyboard with a nice design, look, mount, and sound.

Overall design is very handsome if you ignore all the little tidbits. And yes both design and sound are very subjective
Scott progressively ascends to heaven the longer the video goes on LOL
Lol thanks
lol i have the nav cluster remapped for soundboard keys, that's a macropad on a TKL already
Haha I guess we can call anything anything these days! I mean this is kind of an XT layout but kind of not... I don't even know anymore lol
You are the top gear of keyboards
oh nyo I just brought Neson Nico😮
Btw Sillywork made 3 Hyacinthus switches 1 from KTT 2 from HMX
For 300$, it's decent but the build without force break mod was extremely hilarious
I built without it and panicked a little bit
I agree the design messy but I also kinda mess with it, maybe I just have horrible taste lmao
