@@Keybored We do have to take into consideration that these are Chinese board designers who double as the manufacturers and can price their boards to still be profitable due to the high volume of sales. Independent designers who have to pay way more for manufacturing (in China), and have to split the profits with vendors couldn't dream to do the same. And they are also at the disadvantage of low MOQ on top of everything else. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good value proposition for the consumer, but they are also starting to hold a monopoly on anything other than the "high end" market.

@@_fatalruin referring to your explanation, I realized the value of "high-end" boards is not because of the quality but only because of its exclusivity (low MOQ)🤣. It's normal for luxury goods to be like that

I love seeing you point out specific models of cars to relate the color inspiration. I'd love to see more stuff like this in your scripts as art is always inspired by something and even if we don't have exactly the same influences adding to our appreciation of a product, it is nice to know what you, Scott, relate the product to artistically.

Thank you for actually being willing to call keyboards midrange. I feel like I constantly hear "oh no, 250 is pretty reasonable for a keyboard, that's entry level really" which is insane.

I'm only just getting into custom keyboards - would I be right in thinking the market has changed over the past few years? Like 100$ now gets you a great pre built now.

    • @moonmothh

FR so many keyboards out there are better than what they're selling for $250 it's actually never worth it. Prebuilt budget keyboards are simply too good nowaways to be throwing away that kind of money for something that you may like just as much or better for $80

@@moonmothhThe $80 prebuilts are the foamy boards with bad-mid build quality You do get what you pay for with a good amount of the ~$200 boards, especially this one. Full brass bottom, not foam reliant, large variety of plate and color options. The good prebuilts are the $120-200 ones like the rainy 75 or evo80.

Solid boards. The design and materials have really become intriguing in combination with customization. I only have an objection lately regarding the grotesque, heavy and deep cases stuffed with sound dampening materials.
It's annoying having to keep the wrists floating above the keys in order to easily reach the top row and side keys. I think the low profile cases and keycaps becoming mechanical is one pleasant turning into more comfortable typing without wrist rest. No more heavy metallic rectangular boxes.

I love my QK75n but the front height is definitely higher than all the Neo boards. I just picked up an Evo80 last month, basically a Neo80 with RGB and been using it since but really like 75% more than TKL. I'm thinking that Navy/Brass would look great with GMK Blue Samurai and I think the early bird discount still applies so trying to decide this weekend... sigh... Neo, to me, is all about the elegant design. IMO elegance in design is what makes things timeless. It's why you can look at those old cars and they still look amazing. While most of the new design is geared more towards "modern" trends that are rather sharp, audacious, and ultimately become a short lived "trend". I would rather have the Neo over the Jelly every single time. The Jelly looks like a Mitsubishi. The Neo looks like an Aston Martin or 1960's Jaguar E-type. (or insert other extremely elegant cars). In my mind the major difference is about curvature over edginess. If you take time to really look at the design of the Neo there are a lot of subtle curves and softness incorporated in an otherwise aggressive design. There's a reason men find the female figure attractive...curvature.

Nice board, but WAY too high pitched clacking for me. It actually hurt my ears. Sensitivity to high pitched sounds has always been an issue for me with keyboards, but this one is just so sharp and loud, didn't like it at all. I like a much deeper sound personally. Would the PP tray and/or foam help with that, or is this just the pitch of this keyboard? Haven't built many keyboards, so really don't know. Right now using a Rainy75, hoping I got one of the ones that doesn't die in 3 months. Been keeping an eye open for one that sounds like this one, but less reviews talking about it no longer connecting to the PC, etc.

You can take zoom 75 tiga with poron, but if u want this one then you should take pp, all-foam, full nylon switches (quinn or oil king as suggestion), you can relube them with 205g2 to make them deeper, take brass as it is little more deeper, take dye-sub thick pbt keycaps (or ceramic if u can afford) that build will do everything to make the board deeper.

    • @earljaycaoile5071

He was using only the CF plate with no foams for the sound test. I don’t know why the POM plate wasn’t included, but there are other videos by different creators showing different configs. If you want low pitch, use PP or POM plate with at least the plate switch. If you need to dampen the sound a bit more, you can add the case switch. There’s PE foam that can lower the pitch too, but it tends to make all switches sound the same (even more so than other foams).
I have a Neo80 with several PCBs to experiment with different builds. PC, POM, and PP plates are the best for thock.

I'm new to the keyboard hobbie. I'm waiting for the lemokey p1 pro to come back in stock on the keychron website. I'm trying to move away from the "gamer tax" mainline brands and give other keyboards a try. One thing I find difficult is finding info on how all these custom keyboards and mainline keyboards compare to each other for gaming. Most of the reviews and posts online talk about how it feels to type on them and not really talk about their experiences with gaming. I've used a Corsair k70r for years now.
