I read The God of the Woods recently and absolutely loved it! I was craving those summer camp vibes and it delivered exactly what I was wanting. It was 5 stars for me, although I agree with your critiques as well... I feel like my ratings are so subjective sometimes, lol. But it was so perfect for exactly what I was wanting at exactly the right time. If I'd read it in winter, my rating might be different. 😆 but still high, just maybe not 5?
I’m 100% the same. There are so many just random feelings and factors that go into reading. I’m totally a seasonal reader and want my books to be set during the same season I’m in most of the time. I read The Encyclopedia of Faeries last summer and the cover was 100% summer. This book is set in dead winter with nonstop snow. It totally made me mad at the book 😂
@@victoriasampley me toooo! I also hate when I find a list of "perfect autumnal books" and then it turns out they're set in summer. I'm like, why??? I read Encyclopedia of Faeries in January so that was perfect but I also assumed it would be a summer read based on the cover, so I just lucked out there! I don't mind reading "out of season" books, but only when I'm expecting it.
Totally! It’s like what makes it autumnal then? Haha Lucky! I did pick up the sequel when it came out in January and that one started out in August. I was like nope! I will read this later 😂

I enjoyed God of the Woods. So many interesting perspectives! I'm not too fond of the ending, but I'm glad I read it.
It definitely had issues, but I had such a good time reading it. Glad you enjoyed it too even if the ending was a let down. 💖
