  • Another bike tour in Scotland! This time a Vstrom only tour along with my two friends from Wales and England - Nelly and Kev. This was Nelly and Kev's firs time in Scotland and I think we've chosen the best route (doable within our time limits) including parts of Highlands and Cairngorms. This video covers the section between Tyndrum and Spean Bridge. The fun has only just begun!
    Bikes: Suzuki Vstrom 650/1000

This is great footage. My wife and I stopped at the Green Wellie Gulf station in 2015 when rode to Fort William. We met some scooter riders who were going to climb the grades to the north. It was not sunny for us. You have had some good fortune with the weather. We shipped Suzuki 650 V Strom to the UK and were able to ride in Europe for two months. We just returned to Canada last week. It was a wonderful trip. Thanks for sharing this video it brought back some wonderful memories riding in Scotland.

Just found this channel and came straight to this tour as I hope to be riding many of the same roads this September, on my... VStrom 650. Those views never fail to take your breath away.

Thanks Brian, glad you enjoyed it! It's a huge world out there waiting to be discovered! The USA is on my list as well and I want to do the coast to coast one day, not necessarily following the route 66... it'll take a while to plan/save up for but it's definitely happening... one day! Cheers, ride safe buddy!

Hi! It was fun! I think this was the last longer trip for this year but hopefully work and weather permitting I will manage some day trips and short ride outs still. Hopefully they won't lock us down completely! Fingers crossed for next year though. Are you coming over to Scotland?

Good video buddy. There's 6 of us coming up on a tour of Scotland then Wales on 21st June all being well. I see and hear lots of good things about those 650 stroms. I had an 04 dl1000 which was brilliant apart from the dreaded judder at low revs. Just subbed, and looking forward to watching the rest of your vids 👍

Thank you, glad you liked it! Sounds awesome, fingers crossed everything goes well and they won't lock us down again. I'm sure you'll enjoy it up here! Yes, the 650 is an awesome bike. Will do everything you need it to and it won't break the bank. A bit less power than the 1000 but very capable nevertheless, you just need to go through the gears a bit more. I think the newer 1000 models don't have the judder issue, certainly my 650 is very smooth at all speeds. Ride safe mate and enjoy your trip 👍😁👍

@@matjucable We were due to come up last year but that all went to pot with lockdown. Done it a few times in the car but never on the bikes. Even bought a drone to capture the scenery.
We need the break, there's 6 of us and we're all Paramedics and pretty much knackered now after the last year. Really looking forward to it 👍

      @@matjucable hi,
No worries, believe it or not I still have not bought a Vstrom, or any other bike for that matter.
Still looking at the Vstrom 650, but a bit worrying that some say they do not hold up very well to the great british weather.
      Whsts your opinion, thanks

Hi again, the issue isn't with the vstrom or suzuki for that matter. I had a kawasaki and a Honda before the strom and both were equally bad for winter riding. The issue is the crap that they put on our roads in winter. Despite every effort to wash the bike, dry it and protect it with the likes of acf50, the bike will still corrode, starting from fittings, brake discs, chain, exhaust, and then the frame etc... for the first time ever, this winter my bike stays in the garage and I'm waiting for spring yo go out on it again. The second issue is that they don't make bikes like they used to, quality materials are a thing of the past. Probably both because of impurities in steel and cost cutting. So to sum up, if you plan to ride in winter (after they start gritting and putting salt on the roads) then whatever bike you decide to buy will suffer as a consequence. I've had no issues with my suzuki other than surface corrosion from riding on salty, wet roads in winter but that took a lot of maintenance, cleaning and drying etc. And my previous bikes, the Kawasaki Versys and the Honda NC750X were exactly the same... hope that answers your question! 👍👍
