Ive tried either this type or a different one by Chivas. It was 21 yrs old or more, but came in a maroon colored ceramic bottle. Not sure if this is different than the blue ceramic type. All I know is that a miniature bottle (1oz to 3 oz?) cost about $30 about 20 years ago. It tasted fantastic, certainly the best I've had in my moderate experience.
Yeah there are three different colours and as far as I know the whisky inside is the same. It is a tasty dram and the decanters are beautiful as well :)
I literally just bought this today. 70 pounds in my local market (Alberta Canada). Looking forward to opening and tasting. I really enjoyed the 18 year.
I just located this Chivas expression and although it’s $200 before taxes in Canada I think it sounds worth trying! Hey we are part of the Commonwealth and now there is a King!! lol! The bottle does look beautiful and elegant! I am not a Royalist but I’d really love to try this blend based on your excellent review!! Sounds terrific!! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend! I woke to a bit of snow! Yikes! I need Maui!! Soon!! Warmth and gorgeous water to swim in!! I will have to find some lovely single malt scotch when my husband and I take our 3 kids for spring break - from university and highs high school! Life is never dull with kiddos!! Cheers!!
Yeah the bottle is just beautiful and does look great on a shelf. The inside is beautiful as well, such a nice sipper. Is it worth the price, definitely not. Maybe try it at a bar to see. The problem is, it falls into the category if 'daily sipper' by taste but 'special pour' by price 😃 Enjoy Maui with your family Christine, I've never been but I'm sure it's absolutely gorgeous. I'm heading to Scotland soon with my family. I always cherish family time, nothing like it! Cheers to you and your family's health 🥃
Can you pls explain 21 yrs in blend? Can you state 21 if you use lets say 3 types 10 yrs and one 21 yrs, or must be all blends above 21 yrs to state this? Thanks
Thanks for the question :) So the law is if the bottle has an age statement it must be the YOUNGEST whisky in the bottle. So for this one, the youngest whisky in the bottle is 21 years old. It doesn't matter if it's a blend or single malt. This bottle has 21 year old grain and 21 year old malt whisky in it. Now they can add older batch from either malt and/or grain whiskies to get the taste profile they want but because they state 21 on the bottle, the youngest batch has been aged for 21 years. Hope this helps, cheers! 🥃
Well not exactly and they don't share apart from saying it has more than 21 whiskies in it from all around Scotland. Their spiritual home is the Strathisla Distillery but they also own a lot of malt and grain distilleries as well so take your pick from Scapa, Glenburgie, Glentauchers, Aberlour, Glenlivet and so on :)
@@thewhiskyenthusiast This helps!! I have to try Scapa - haven't yet! Thanks so much for this! I hope you and your family are having a special weekend!! 🙂

If you liked the 18, hopefully this will go down beautifully. It really is a gorgeous whisky inside and out. Cheers 🥃
@@thewhiskyenthusiast cheers. I remember the 18 winning on the nose compared to some stiff competition. The palate didn't disappoint either.
@@Watchman999 Please let me know how the RS21 fares with you compared to the 18, I am curious my friend.

Nice review. I have been wanting to try the Salute 21.
I think you'll like it 😃
Just opened my royal salute special edition and enjoying it while watching your review 😊
Awesome! So happy to be a part of your tasting 😃 Hope you like the whisky and the review 🥃
I am not a big whiskey fan, but this is my favourite🎉
I'm not surprised! It is a very easy and pretty whisky 😀
Have you tried the peated Royal Salute?? It has THREE ghost distilleries juice in it according to the legends.
No I have not actually but I really would love to. I did hear about it but never heard anything of a review. Somewhat of an elusive dram I believe.
One of my bests
Great dram 🥃

P.S. Any guessing on which scotch expressions might be used in this blend?!
