At least it's giving you good roll practice! Interesting to hear different perspectives. Just got one and I feel like it really takes care of me. Stern never gets grabby river running, but you can still stern squirt great, surfs even better, and I can load the tail to boof waves and holes like a champ. My new favorite boat. All that being said it does tend to have more the tail of a full slice then a half slice. For reference I'm 6'1 and 215 lbs. and I have the seat in the center. Keep at it and it will for sure make you a better boater instead of a beater boater. LoL!
The whitewater park is a strange animal. It has strong eddy lines. It's very boily and that likely contributed to the chaos. I'm going to give it more love.
Thanks for a different perspective. All the other reviews I’ve seen are from advanced boaters talking about how great it is. I still plan on demoing one hopefully soon.
From all your other videos, you appear to be a solid paddler. I appreciate you're not at the level that some of the all-day-everyday-every-river paddler reviewers are. Not that i was ever gonna consider the Hot Whip anyway.
I let two of my friends try it and they loved it. They didn't beater around in it like I did! As a sidebar I took it to roll practice last night and almost got my first stern squirt in flatwater. As wild as this beast is I think it has loads of play potential!

Great stuff Justin!
Thank you!
I’ve been eyeing this boat. I’ll have to demo one.

All that flipping reminds me of my Perception "Dancer" circa 1989.
Yeah..... if nothing else my roll is gonna get better! 🤣🤣🤣
Excellent review! I've always wondered what the HW would be like for a beater such as myself. Now I know 😂
