Hi! All of those comics are going to be slabbed and sold along with the rest of the raw collection. If you are interested let me or James know. A huge thanks to James for hanging out and having some fun looking at over 30years of collecting!!!
Wow, that nearly mirrors my collection, and in a similar time frame. Was like watching someone go through my collection, sans the movie properties, much of Simonson's Thor run, and some of the DC stuff. Also, I have many more newsstands, particularly with that first volume of ASM. Cool to see someone else's collection spanning the same as mine. Looks like a lot of great high-grade copies.
Brother you did good. Looks like a lot of fun. Spending a whole day going through comics, what else can you ask for. Remember " With great comic experience comes great responsibility ".
Awesome collection. It was definitely in better shape and more complete than mine. I've been collecting since 1982. I've sold entire runs that he had in that time. I still have over 50 long boxes. ( Slowly purchasing short boxes ) My back is crying for them. It is always a joy when a collection is shared to the public. You never know exactly what you will see.
What a great collection!!! I started collecting comics in the late 70's. I remember seeing so many of these books in the LCS I used to go to back then. I was only 7 when I started collecting. I only bought ASM, Iron Man, and Captain America. I wish I would have been a more serious collector. That was just awesome to see a great personal collection.
Amazing stuff!!!! Loved the video. Oddly enough I started going thru my 40,000+ comic collection about three weeks ago and saw tons of the same books you showed here plus others from Independent publishers from the 80’s. As well Archie’s, Gladstone and Dark Horse from that decade. It’s been a blast rummaging through the old long boxes and feeling some of those keys in my hands again. What a rush!!!! As I have told my people over the years, I started out only reading Archie, Harvey and Disney Duck books from when I started in 1977 until about late 1982. When I started reading Marvel and DC IN 1983, my collection exploded and I acquired a ton of the stuff you showed in 3 for a $1 bins. Who would have thought I would have a little gold mine today from those boxes lol. BTW, one of the best books I dug out was my excellent condition copy of Archie’s Girls Betty & Veronica #320. If you know what that is then you know what I’m talking about lol. Love the great work you do here, keep it up my friend.
That is one massive collection @seanferris Love the runs and I’ve got a lot of those Marvel keys too, especially the X-men/Frank Miller Daredevil runs. Can’t wait to see the slabbing results 👍
Great video. I like seeing you pick out the keys worth sending in to grade. I've got a lot of silver and bronze age uncanny x-men and full runs of x-men and wolverine but other than just sending in all keys I didn't know where to start.
This is a great format, had a lot of fun watching through everything, learning a lot of issues are keys that I was not aware of. Makes me feel a lot better about my collection!
I always get a kick at the present day of comic collecting, because everyone thinks it's the hip thing.... in the 90s when i was collecting at my peak, 80s too, it was a small world, where the True comic people collected... and it wasnt even a thing to get books graded. I have fantastic memories of collecting and going to Air Capital Comics in Wichita, Kansas every week. Great video
THAT was a superb collection of its era. In fact there a whole lot of comics that I didn’t realise were keys. Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to the graded results.
Wow! That's an awesome collection! I hope they all come back with high grades and he gets some bank out of them. Just the books you showed are amazing. You're a good man for helping him out. Nice one, James!
Nice collection for sure James. Alot of cool keys and minor keys. Budget friendly me would probably slab 25-30% of those. Wishing him luck on his submissions. That must've been one fun adventure going through the collection.
I don't collect anymore...in the process of selling off my collection on ebay and my dad's collection who died last year but I still love looking at videos about comics like yours and others. You gained a subscriber. Im 49 but have to say I loved comics more up until the late 90s...After that I feel in love more with cover art and variants so I'm done. I will always love the awesome art and stories rhough.
Quick observation - Looking at the two X-Men Alpha books at 13:09 I'm pretty sure they are just the regular Chrome cover and 2nd Printing regular cover. The expensive version is the Gold retailer incentive which has a gold tint to the X-Men logo. Still a cool start to the Age Of Apocalypse story, though!
Just keep the smile on my friend life has bumps in the road you'll be fine it might not seem like it a time or two but everything usually works out and a lot of times for the better all the best thank you for sharing again keep the smile on and all the best to you and yours
I actually have done 35 years of accumulative collecting. I often get a lot, then sell. Then accumulate more boxes, then sell. Right now I'm just accumulating and speccing, 14 short boxes I think I will hold off some. Mostly Bronze and Moderns. Great video, always inspires me to shop!
That was so fun, I only wish I had someone to help me go through my collection, of coarse someone like you, with all that knowledge and the " these are worth sending in advise" I can only imagine what your friend is going to spend sending all the books in for grading. Thanks again for the great show.
Same here. If you know some one in the LA area willing to do this with my 30+ collection, let me know. My collection is pretty similar in scope as this one.
I love that Deadshot's Revenge and those Red Hood covers. Great Reverse Flash, the Death of Supergirl, Lobo and JSA comics! Awesome Miss Martian! Oh yeah absolutely worth it!
Amazing and Awesome video and Collection i started my collection in 1986 to this day but its not as complete as this one am a picky collector and I have a 4 year gap again great collection and thank you for sharing wow looking at this video now I have an idea of what to look and put on the side WOW
Very Nice Collection! I paused it when I saw Detective Comics 475 & 476. I have those in excellent condition as well. Don't see a lot of those. Thanks for showing us these James! Makes me think my collection is pretty decent. :)
Great vid. Just discovered you so looking forward to see future vids. This collection is killer. I will point out Illyana first appeared in Giant Size X-Men 1.
Where did you get the data on X-Men: Alpha being a $200 book raw? I know there is a Gold Edition Variant that's worth more than the Wraparound Chromium cover that's in the video, as well as more expensive than the non-foil 2nd printing, but ComicBookRealm and other sources only have it around $10-$15. Thanks!
Very nice collection... I'm interested in learning about when & where he planned on selling these. Also @MintHunter, do you sell any of your books?.. If so, where can they be seen/purchased?
He's selling these immediately, if he doesn't get offers he's getting em slabbed (and they'll be a lot more expensive then!) Haha, if interested you can message Sean directly in the comments of this video!
@@MintHunterComics thanks I appreciate the response. And yea I'm aware that if/when it gets encased in plastic, depending on the book & grade, the prices can get drastic, lol... All good though, the enjoyment of having the art is worth it.
Man those Batman books are beautiful! That 1st print 423 had me drooling I’ve been looking everywhere for that book in any print that doesn’t cost an arm and leg
Amazing collection. I was literally doing the same thing Saturday. In storage with a friend digging through his collection when he started collecting in the early to mid 70s. He didn’t get everything , but a lot it wasn’t quite that well organized though.
Amazing collection and a great example of what you can build by just staying in the hobby and consistently picking up books you like or that have interesting first appearances. This is important to see at the moment, at a time when older books are just totally out of reach for most new collectors But, a cool collection doesn't have to be silver age or whatever. If you had just picked up books at cover price over the last ten or fifteen years or so, you'd have things like UF4, Young Avengers 1, first Silk, Spider-Gwen, Jane Foster Thor, Shuri, America Chavez, as well as ones that could be huge in a few years like the New Agents of Atlas. A collection like that will look pretty awesome a few years down the line Edit: also first Jessica Cruz, Gorr the God Butcher, Yara Flor, Immortal Hulk 1, Detective 880, Dr. Aphra, Riri Williams
@@MintHunterComics True.
