Your interviews are the best, Ron !!...you have a natural gift to make people feel comfortable, safe and at ease, all lovely conversations with good people. I really forget who they are when they talk to you, and it seems like they kinda forget too.
This is soul lifting and terribly nostalgic at the same time.... one of the greatest musical eras in the history of art, is slowly coming to an end.
This is great because we are all going through the same emotional roller coaster .
I would just like to make a small observation Ron. The idea about what it's going to be like once you get back out there.
And thinking perhaps there maybe a moment of worry before you begin, well I just like to say that us bedroom (stroke) housebound, musicians that have not made a successful career in music (for one reason or another) well we feel that all the time because we don't get enough work or whatever. I just like to say that it is very refreshing that even the greats of this music called Jazz can feel the same way (and more to the point) you are human like us after all and not these non approachible beings that us bedroom musicians have created in our own minds. I thank you and Diana for the window of clear perspective of making us wood workers see the reality that we all have the same struggles and that all musicians are just one big extended family. Your channel is so grounding for us all. Man I just had another thought,,, maybe that's the real reason they call bass players "the anchor man", and as I understand it that is not a great term for the bass players role in music, but perhapse it mite be an emotional role of keeping the group together as they fly through a dazzling solo section. Sorry man I'm just thinking out loud. Thank you brother Ron.

I agree with you. The conversation between Mr. Carter and Ms. Krall was much like the intrinsic qualities of jazz music itself--in the moment, improvisatory, and organic. This was a treasure. So glad I finally spotted this. No surprise that this _exactly_ reflects how you both play - thoughtful, sensitive, warm, and intelligent. The genuineness of it all got me quite emotional. I might need to write a song about it 😄
The topics are a reminder of that whole awful period of loss, powerlessness, and social turmoil. I admit I've been trying to forget. It feels so much further in the past than it is. Smudgy faded memories already. Hard to believe it even happened at times.

Wow! I don't know what to say!! .... Ron Carter thank you so much for this 52:13 of pure bliss sharing this video ... Two of my favorite people, although Diana is and will always be my hero and just a very special person through her music but also her sweet down to earth personality . I own most of Diana's CD's . (All for You) 1996 front to back is beautiful (The Look of Love) 2001 I will stop there haha. When you asked Diana what other instrument she would like to play waiting for her answer I'm thinking (guitar) then after some thought DK says guitar I was shocked in a good way ....... Ann Arbor MI. Hill Auditorium 2009 after the concert walking past a line of strangers in the back area I asked why are all you people standing back here, a fellow fan says Diana is coming out to say hello I found a place in line and waited ...Diana did in fact come out and greeted each and every one of us ...When my turn came i asked her if she would sign the DK shirt I just purchased, she said sure what is your name i replied Spencer at witch point she said that was a name she considered for one of her boys I will never forget that moment .......LuvUGuys! TY for this.......

I’m a classical musician who plays an instrument with a traditionally Subsidiary role: the viola. Everything you said applies to us, as well as bass Oh, and my son is a jazz bassist.

Wow, you artist and in particular you musicians are for sure the ones who suffer the most from all this damn sh…! When you are a musician and you are locked up in your practising room for such a long time, it really sucks! At the end of the day you need to go out and present what you have practised for so long to the audience. But be aware, you are not alone and you have our fullest sympathy. Thank you very much Ron. feel that the music has lost its romanticism in the lyrics. I mean simple melody and talk about good moments in simple way The enthusiasm of romantic songs talking about couples' relationships in a humane and kind way. Couples enjoying being together and the emotional involvement. The creativity of changing routine with the confidence of being together.
