Rewatching this series after almost a decade. I came across this show when I was in Year 8/9. One of my faves.
I am so glad that the Science Channel has put IE on you tube. I love their Engineering shows and i don't get SC on my TV right now so this is the next best thing. i hope they put up more. :)

I once diverted water from my a/c into a bird bath....these engineers ain't they only badasses;)
Why doesn't The Mackinac Bridge ever get any love? Five miles long, capable of withstanding winds up to 150 mph, the road's 200 feet above water, and the pilings are 210 feet below water. Plus, water freezes when it gets cold! So you have giant floating icebergs ramming into the pilings every time the wind shifts direction in winter! One guy flew a plane below the bridge another flew a small plane INTO the guide wires during some fog. Beautiful bridge, 63 years old and the only thing wrong with it has been the lead paint they painted it with.
In from Michigan the mitty mac is awesome I've been across the mitty mac countless times my dad's fam is from the Detroit area and moms side from Escanaba MI in da up Dar a lol . love the u.p but hated living there nothing and I mean nothing to do for fun at all not to mention the cops suck. They treat everyone like a criminal.
@@jimmywallace5030 it's been my experience people who complain the "cops suck" and "treat everyone like criminals" are usually doing something that attracts cops attention. But im 100% sure you were behaving, minding your own business and the police had nothing better to do than harass you, right?

@@pauldziejman not to mention my bro and I had just moved to Escanaba and were walking home from looking around town got stop by Escanaba pubic safety and once they found out we were from Detroit they pulled then guns on us made us lay in the middle of the ally right behind r house trying to say that because were from the city we could have guns boy were they WORNG just like u r mine your dam business

Compare this 9,449 ft suspension bridge that cost $800 million and 4 years to build to the New East Bay Bridge in San Francisco with a suspension of 1,263 ft at a cost of $6.5 billion and 12 tears to build and another 4 billion quietly spent since opening attempting to keep it from falling down. That's how we do it in California, you should see the High-Speed Rail we spent $50 billion on, and if you do please tell me where you saw it.

Ok this might sound stupid ! But in the beginning of this program! It was stated the land masses on either side of the proposed bridge were separate tectonic plates both moving in opposite direction! Even if the movement was small! Eventually the bridge won't be able to be used. How was this taken into account???

Getting really tired of mainstream tv editing. We're talking about a bridge, can you relax with the constant jump cuts and random engineering equations thrown in to the scenes when the don't make sense.
I feel like I'm watching a deep fried meme version of those COD dank 420/69 montages, but they're targeting engineering nerds. Heroic music, and a "dun, dun, dun" voice over.
This is cringe. Just teach us about the fucking bridge man, you don't have to make it a marvel movie.
They think this is what the masses want. Maybe they dont think its exciting enough on its own, so instead think they have to spice it up with cheezy effects in an attempt to cover that up? There was no reason to keep flashing E=mc^2 up there, how dumb do they think the average viewer is?
