If you pay attention in the live performance of this song, his band constantly keeps an eye on Craig throughout the performance to make sure he’s okay. Such an incredibly well-written song.
He wrote this for his son, who passed away. I think it was at 19 in a boating accident. On another country artist Ricky Skaggs told him he might. He has to keep singing the song to heal people.
When used in country music, they call it a fiddle. The difference between a violin and a fiddle is how it's played. See Charlie Daniel's Band...The Devil Went Down to Georgia.
This song brings tears to my eyes every time, then when you shared your connection I was done for. I do not have kids though I have a nephew I'm super close to. I know people say it isn't the same, but he and I lived under the same roof for 7 years. I took care of him on a daily basis for my sister was a young mother. When I moved away I purposely got a 2 bedroom apartment so he has a place to stay when he visits. If something ever happened to him, I'm not sure I would have the strength to pick myself up. I admire your courage to share your experience and I will pray for you as I know pain like that is never fully gone as the song expresses. Thank you!
You are lovely. The fact that you make the effort for your nephew is beautiful. It’s not something everyone would do so you’re love for him is seen and I believe you are a wonderful person. You are so right about how I’ve never really got over it. I sometimes look at children and think what if. It wasn’t the plan God had for me though and I accept that every single day. Thank you so much for your kind words. Many prayers for blessings I send your way. 🙏🏽
Yes, he lost his 19-year-old son to a boating accident. He sang this song at the Opry, and expected it to be the only time he sang it. But he was convinced that he needed to record and share it (I don't recall the name of the man who convinced him of this). Blake Shelton got involved and told his listeners to listen to the song and make it #1 in the charts... and his campaign worked. I'm sorry for your loss. I've had six miscarriages; mine were very early, so there was less anticipation, but the pain is there. I'm sorry you've had to experience it too.
Sharing his story probably helped so many people so I’m glad he recorded it. I’m sorry for your loss as well. It was one of the hardest things I had to go through but I’m healing day by day, year to year. Many blessings to you and yours 🙏🏽
Theres nothing more devastating than the loss of a child, it tears our a part of your soul that never heals, i had 2 miscarriages myself, and even though i have 2 adult sons now whom i am very proud of, i still wonder all the time what my other babies would be like today.. love never dies
I 100% agree. Its been a few years and it's something I always think about every single day. So thank you for sharing your beautiful testimony. May God continue to bless you
This song is also heart breaking. But should probably not be listened just after this one. Give your emotions time to recover from this song. The Joey and Rory one was kind of a true story, as it was written and recorded before it came true; an eerie and unfortunate coincidence.
Craig Morgan and Toby Mac both lost a son and used song writing and singing as their outlet and relied on their faith, both are impressive. If you get the chance, please listen to 21 Years by Toby Mac.
I have thought of Toby quite a bit after hearing this. I had the blessing of meeting Toby about 18 years ago and had a wonderful conversation with him. Every time I saw him perform after that he always remembered me. Both him and Craig are living testaments to what it means to have faith.
He left the stage and someone said how much it meant and he said I'm glad you liked it because I'll never sing it again. And the guy said no you have to!! It's going to mean so much to so many people. It was after he lost his son.
God bless you ma'am. Sure sorry about your miscarriage. My daughter had one and then about a year and a half later, she had our grandson. He is 1 and my best buddy! God has big things for you ma'am. Brooks and Dunn song "Believe" is one you would love
This was by far the hardest performance foe Craig ever.

I still can not hear this song without crying. Praise God I haven’t experienced this kind of lose but, I have two sons that are absolutely my life!
Yeah it’s hard even watching and knowing the testimony but I’m glad he was able to release these feelings through this song. It’s a blessing

Yes, true story!😪
You are awesome
Holy shit I’ve heard this song so many times and I still can’t hold it in 😢
I completely understand, this song will pull on your heart strings!!
You aren't the only one!

Ran's Street, I'm very sorry for your loss! ♥️ Sending you all my love right now!

Another great song of his with emotions is "This ain't nothing." Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. God is good all the time. George
This is another must hear message.
Another beautiful and sad song is "When I'm gone" by Joey and Rory

It is very impressive, I’ll check out your request soon. I can’t wait to hear it.
@@ranxstreet WARNING You might get real emotional

He wrote that for his Son who passed I believe was 18. He drowned on Kentucky lake while home from college visiting. Very sad but great song.

It was Ricky Scaggs that told him that
He wrote this abouthis son Jerry who died at 19 years old

Brooks and Dunn "Believe" had me in tears. I reacted to it and it was so beautiful. I absolutely loved it!
I hope you got a blessing from it. It's these heartfelt country songs, that get to me, as well as gospel. I'm so glad you reacted to it
I think the one with video is better but the one on Kelly Clarkson show he breaks down and cries at the end
It was his19 year old son..
What a great, soothing voice you have. Liked, subscribed. 😀 Nice to "meet" you!
One of my all time faves!! As usual, a fantastic reaction!! You need to do “Flawless” by mercy me- the original video. Amazing.
I’m glad you enjoyed, I’ll add “flawless” to the list and check it out!
If you do check it out “flawless” and like it. Then perhaps down the road you can check out “even if” by mercey me 🌹
@@jamiestonebraker2231 I’m sure I’ll like it, you guys always suggest good stuff!I’m down to check out both ☺️
Yes it true he lost his son
Sweetie, I’ve had two miscarriages and totally understand!!! Much love!
Much love to you 🙏🏽 praying for your heart and mind 😘
Craig cannot always perform this song. When he can, the audience cries with him. Some days he just can't do it.
He lost his son in a tubing accident
Ma'am if you quit talking and asking questions you will understand the song better
I don’t think my channel is for you
You may not want to watch any more reaction videos from anyone.
She has talked the least out of the ones I have watched.
