I was all set to buy a new unit because my Cyan cartridge, though brand new, kept reading as empty. I found your video, followed the very simple steps that Brother didn't offer anywhere, and my unit is back to good. Thanks!
I bought this printer 7 years ago, and it is in excellent condition, I paid $350 , now the price has doubled , but still for that price it’s still a good deal.
This video saved me. The only thing I have to add is to make it very clear you need to press to the right of the red "x" for a few seconds. First time I watched this, that wasn't so obvious. Then again, I'm fairly dense. TY

For anyone finding this: The spot he's pressing is where the asterisk (*) key is. To see it, go into fax mode and it will light up the number pad there. Make a mark to be sure where the asterisk key is. That said, I tried this and it didn't work. There are lots of websites that say to press the asterisk key, but it doesn't cause any reset menu to appear. Other than the asterisk key, thank you, this is exactly the same model I have and I was wondering if I was doing something wrong because I'm not getting the reset menu when I hold down the asterisk key. Maybe Brother updated the firmware to prevent this from working?

Where do you get the supplies to refill your cartridges? I've wanted to do that but it has been a struggle to find toner.
Very helpful simple fix for a problem that I thought was going to be the end of my now rather elderly printer.
Good demo. NOTE: At 30 sec. mark it's not clear that you are actually pressing the 'invisible' * button on the touch screen. Worked great.

how did you get to the Reset menu?
With the cover open, you have to hold your finger next to the red "x" until it responds.
