Fred ... thanks for keeping us sane with these wonderful memories. As it says on the T-shirt, "I may be OLD, but at least I got to see and enjoy the world BEFORE it went to SHIT!" 60s and 70s were the BEST!! 😊
And the 80s weren't too bad either at least the earlier to mid-80s but yes the 60s and 70s were the best and the mid to late 1950s those were the best times for all the most important stuff from 1955to1985 TV movies and music and comic books and magazines
I was in 4th grade that Winter. I will never forget my teacher. Mrs. Wagg. Prettiest teacher I ever had. And she was a good teacher, as well. Oh, glad you told us that was Phyllis George. I hadn't seen her in so long I did recognize her. Gowdy sounded like a prophet, but really wasn't even close. That was a no-brainer about the Steelers back then. Great stuff Fred! Keep'em coming!
I know I can't believe it as a child I was 9 years old in 1975 I remember maybe a year no 2 years later about 1977 or 1978 my aunt used to watch another world with Rachel and Mack actually two of my aunts and my mother will watch it
Awesome video, Fred--thanks man! And as a lifelong Pittsburgh native, my chest swelled with pride at that Superbowl Steelers clip. We lost Franco Harris 18 months ago and the Burgh is still grieving 😢 Anyway, love me some Switchblade Sisters! ❤❤❤❤❤
Just incredible as always Fred. Much appreciated. 10:00 I always loved how _Corinthian Leather_ was a marketing term that didn't really mean anything. Apparently it was a domestic product made by the Radel Leather Manufacturing Company in Newark, New Jersey. I mean, Newark????
Wow I remember those Ricardo montalban Chrysler Cordoba commercials with the rich Corinthian leather and I live in Newark I lived in North all my life and never knew about that company I just found out it was not too far from where I lived apparently there was two other leather companies very close to raydel call dreyer leather
@@jimmorrison6421 Right? That's one of those things you have to say out loud, "Corinthian Leather came from New Jersey!" Glad you appreciated my comment. I've come to love this YT channel and I like how I keep running into my fellow Boomers.
Switchblade Sisters, I definitely don't remember that one. I'm sure my randy 14 year old self would have seen it had I known about it. Funny to think the Cordoba was the new "small" Chrysler, Corinthian leather or not lol! Thanks for the trip down memory lane Fred! 👍👍👍👍
I'll always remember... "available in fine Corinthian leather." Very effective commercial. I always liked Don Rickles on Johnny Carson, but the guy who cracked me up the most was Rodney Dangerfield.

A morning trip in Fred's great time machine. Back to a time before inflationary policies and a hiked minimum wage destroyed fast food restaurants. A time when people looked favorably on Budweiser. When Ricardo Montalban sat in the captain's chair in Star Trek II, was he sitting on fine Corinthian leather?
Just terrific, Fred. My memory is pretty good - I can remember as far back as 1967 when I was only 2....maybe even 1966 a bit. I was very aware of our culture, as my father worked in the media as a sports and entertainment journalist in Columbia, SC - and thanks to his love of pop culture, I was into stuff very early on. So this period...the mid-70s...is crystal clear to me. Great time to live in kid land! I watched that Super Bowl on a little black and white tv in my room. I tell you though, it’s always stunning to me how quickly standards of morality changed between the early 60s and the early 70s. In a matter of just 10 years or less, many moral guidelines that had been in place for decades just melted. Sex is pushed frequently at this time....and just 10 years earlier, many of these ads and promos would've NEVER aired. No commentary here - just an interesting observation.
@@FredFlix yes … definitely was aware Fred! I remember learning that Big Mac jingle as a kid at the time just so I could order a Big Mac by reciting it the next time we went to McDonald's. The young dude behind the counter was momentarily confused at first but figured it out and laughed, and I had my first Big Mac.
Great job again, Fred! 2:25 - WHEEL OF FORTUNE replaced another long-running Merv Griffin-produced show on NBC: the original JEOPARDY! hosted by Art Fleming & announced by Don Pardo. Fortunately JEOPARDY! It's a pretty tune with nice lyrics. 7:20 - I remember when McD's was giving out t-shirts to people who could list the Big Mac ingredients in a certain short period of time. I remember a couple of my bigger-mouthed classmates came to school in those t-shirts, obviously having won them. 8:17 - I don't remember ever seeing that commercial before. I don't think I first went to a Wendy's until a few years later. 9:47 - I didn't know he'd started plugging the Chrysler Cordoba until after he was on FANTASY ISLAND. I've heard "Corinthian Leather" was invented just so he could say that phrase. 10:50 - I think that movie had a sequel called "Can I Do It Till I Need Glasses?", which I think included Robin Williams.
