I've been wondering about that for ages. I just don't get why they can't figure out a way to lock in the drone's current height and location with some simple code. I mean, I'm out here doing my long-range flights, and then I start thinking, what if I gotta go to the bathroom real bad during those 20 minutes in the air? Like, nature calls, you know what I mean? Haha! 😄 "Air-sh*t pause" feature
The problem is without mag its not very stable position wise. So this is basically already in: just enable angle mode and set your throttle around hover.
Yeah, but there is still drift from wind and external forces all while having to balance your throttle. The idea it to not be in “angle mode” The GPS already reports altitude and position, even if it drifts around within a 10m area I think the code could still be implemented, it won’t be Rock solid in one place but it will still be better than nothing. 🤷🏽♂️
@@WindjumbieFPV GPS only gives position, not orientation, so it would have to be flying in a circle or something. Basically would only work at all in a wide open area high up, and even then be unreliable and risky. There is a reason all the DJI-style drones have mag and optical flow sensors. Would be a cool feature, but probably won't happen due to those limitations.
Interesting, would something like a “loiter” mode work? You know where it just circles at a set altitude? Also the compass in my GPS seems quite accurate without a mag and with new M10 gps reporting it’s positioning at 10hz is a very fast update speed and with 20+ sats all the time would also help with accuracy. 🤷🏽♂️
For that feature you should’ve got a DJI drone but you can hold position plus our quads use more energy to hover 😢 then movement where’s the 4.5.1 bro 😎
Yeah but I don’t have a GPS with a magnetometer 😔 Part of why I made this video, wouldn’t it be cool if I could just flash INAV and have that feature? Or better yet, have it in the next BF update 😅
I read your description after commenting 😂. It would be awesome! You should give INAV a try if you get a GPS with a magnetometer. Some useful features. But betaflight's return to home has gotten so much better lol
@@nickgreaux2335exactly! With all the work done under the hood for GPS, the excellent RTHL and M10 accuracy….there’s no reason why they can’t give us a “loiter” mode at least. 🤷🏽♂️

Good point! There are many applications for this, there’s a pull request for it so maybe we see it in a future update
I'm keeping my fingers crossed@@WindjumbieFPV
I can’t wait 😁
Someone already implemented it on github the devs dont want to merge it into the main development branch
yet

@@deice3tons and tons of the new m10 gps come with barometer mag compess and gps lol idk what ur smoking

@@lifebehindtheselens it’s just Betaflight needed to implement the code, am I right?
looks like position hold in INAV:-) you must be constant on sticks
Haha yeah, it would be nice to have this feature in Betaflight as a lot of long range FPV pilots actually do run BF.
That really would be a great function to have. Hope all is well Ori 👊🏻
I’m good buddy thanks. Fingers crossed! They may add it in future updates 😎
cool Feature, nice to be have in betaflight
I definitely would, lots of people use BF for long range flying, we need this
Guess ive been under a rock, had no clue this existed lmfao. Dropped a sub!
ha! thanks bud, coming soon to Betaflight ;)
Nice skills 😊
Top show 🎉🎉
Thanks

This is just a concept of improvements that can be made and this drone pulls only 4.2A in hover
200% i want that option !!!
Would definitely be used by me.
soooooo sweet function🎉🎉🎉
Gotta switch to INAV for that lol. Maybe do a vid trying it?

Niiiiiice!
If it were real
there is no bf 4.5.1. BF 4.5 is merely in rc phase, so even 4.5.0 does not yet exist.
Thanks but If you take the time to read the video description before commenting.
