  • The FNAF gamemode I made for TF2 returns once again, this time in glorious detail and with significantly better balance! This map, which is loosely based on the mechanics of Five Nights at Freddy's, is super fun and coming along nicely. Since the last video in February, I've managed to move from cp_fnaf_b2a to cp_fnaf_b3c - a nice improvement if you ask me! The major changes are covered in the video, and the full list can be found anywhere I post the map.

    I'm still in the process of balancing everything, but once everything in the way of gameplay is solved, I plan on importing custom FNAF assets, implementing small amounts of VScript, and touching up the map for an official release on both GameBanana and potentially a few larger server networks. I've already figured out how to highlight defenders and cloak attackers while the power is out, so most of the technical stuff is well on its way to being completed. Hopefully I can finish everything by the time the FNAF movie comes out in October!

      The doors would all just be impassable hellzones. Imagine a Heavy camping the resupply, just spamming every single door button with minigun shots.

    I think BLU team should have the option to have one player be "Foxy," that being a Scout who can rush in and capture the point much like how Foxy can run and ambush the player in FNaF 1 if they aren't checking the cameras ever so often.

      Scout is fast, and due to thw fact there are voicecalls the spies can easily remove sentries.
      I'd say melee only scout, or Winger/ Boston Basher

    The vent should have a death fan that anyone who doesn't yet know how to killbind could use. For new players and those who just haven't found the developer console yet.
    Of course positioned so that you won't -can- accidentally touch it

    There was a glitch where you could stall the entire game by looking at the main stage cams, sadly they updated the ai and now made them somewhat realistic movement

    I like this current map but part of me wants to see what an Ultimate custom night version of this map would look like. No class/weapon restrictions, one big ass map, complete chaos

    An effective way to somehow make you hate spies even more, lol.
    This gamemode is insane. Can confirm, spies do tend to get a bit quirky at night.

    The huntsman seems to be pretty op in this ngl, in tight space its almost impossible to miss a headshot + its really spam-able

      All defenders need to do is half a half decent huntsman and an engineer to place a mini by the door, or even just 2 engineers

      Honestly I disagree
      He misses quite a bit and during the last stands where the spies do get on point sniper is unironically the least reliable , and even in the vents he missed multiple times
      I would argue that engineer is the most broken class
      But with sniper , it's a giant hit or miss , literally , you either hit the headshot and insta kill your target (if you charged your shot at all) or you deal very mediocre damage as a light class (or outright miss) , and in very close spaces it's very easy to panic and hit a body shot instead or just outright miss , sure , there are moments where sniper is undeniably the best , but those moments are rare , and not consistant enough, just like the hitbox of the huntsman
      Granted I don't think sniper is a bad pick , far from that , that would be gun spy , but sniper is not quite as much of a dominant class as engineer
      He is clearly above shotgun soldier for sure if you are decent with huntsman at least , but if you are not consistant at hitting headshots especially quickly at close range , there is an argument to be made about soldier being better (even if engineer is just....better. than soldier , like most of the time I think)

      @@alechandro89 While Engineer seems very strong, I think that the gameplay wasn't a great example of how effective each class is. At no point did the Spies really commit to Gunspy, and Soldier in particular is effective against Gunspy tactics. Ignoring crits, with 200 health it takes 4-5 shots to kill him. Engineer takes 3-4, and Sniper can be reliably killed in 3. Increased health also lets Soldier get more health from medkits, which makes him more resilient in subsequent fights.
      While Engineer does have buildings and Sniper does have the Huntsman, I think the difference in health makes them roughly even. Sniper has the Huntsman but can't reliably beat Gunspy in a 1v1, Engi has situationally useful buildings (that are extremely vulnerable to sapping) and is slightly less vulnerable to Gunspy, and Soldier can reliably handle a Gunspy or two in a direct fight.

    Closing the vent should open a drop into the room, but you make it tall enough it deals fall damage, so it flickers cloak, so if you use it you gotta go in

    Here me out, Heavy on attack.
    PROS:
    Lots of hp
    Can carry a lunchbox item
    Can give the lunchbox item
    Cons:
    Moves slow
    Can only use the holiday punch
    No cloak
    More likely to get shot
    Why heavy, just to shake things up without ruining the balance.

      There is three big issues, 1 , it would be boring for the heavy, 2, 65 (around 88 damage with steak) a hit is a lot for two low health classes, 3, this game mode is not designed for the guards to have to burn 300 using shotguns, 350 with chocolate, along with instant health restores for fellow teammates with medium health packs.

      @@meem6154 even assuming that they get 500 health total from a stack of 3 heavies healing each other, 1,500 hp is not a lot for a target about 4 times the size of the scout, and can still be insta killed by the huntsman, mini sentries would stop him completely, and his in the case of random crits he can just get deleted at close range more easily then a spy because he can't dodge any amount of damage

    I really do think that the Mercs where the Tf Classic mercenaries and the Chucklenuts are the TF2 ones. The Chucklenuts are just so much more unhinged and disorganized but I love them so much more.

    I feel like there should be a third door, on the defenders' right side, just like their is on the left and mid. Having a more symmetrical design for the cap room would make it feel more like the FNAF office. Also, it'd be nice if the defenders had a bit more to do than just stand around. Maybe add a secondary objective, and/or more interactive buttons. The implementation of the cameras is really nice, and I like the new changes to the attacking routes. Nice progress so far, but I definitely hope you keep working on the map and mode!

    I really like this map and idea, so I thought about some ways to balance it that I think will make it more fun and a better time if this were a game others played.
    I think you should only allow guards to only be classes with shotguns to make the guards more balanced since sniper seems a little unbalanced due to the huntsman and smg. In my opinion, melees other than stock and shotgun variations should be allowed to allow more variation in games on top of the 4 optional classes. Also obviously no primaries, or in engineers case no secondaries. If you were to only allow pyro, soldier, heavy, and engineer I think they can all bring someone good to the table.
    *Pyro* would be a decently weak team player due to his alright hp compared to other classes and weak shotguns, but has access to the sharpened volcano fragment to mark the cloaked enemy spies. Pyro also has the powerjack which is a great all rounder with its extra movement speed and health restore upon kill, the back scratcher to do high dmg, or the homewrecker to help a fellow engineer. No neon annihilator, you can understand why.
    *Soldier* is a bit of a lone wolf and has the same weak shotgun options as pyro, but has a bit more hp than pyro and melees that reward him only such as the half-zatoichi or escape plan. Probably no equalizer though, but I'm not entirely sure just yet. I think to give soldier some variety he could optionally use a banner instead of a shotgun to pair with his strong melees. The buff banner and conch could be great for a solo soldier to easily dominate over the enemies, but the battalion's backup could be used for a rare team player soldier to protect over enemy pushes.
    *Heavy* is a strong team player with the highest hp and with the very strong family business. The heavy has access to super strong melees such as the KGB, warrior's spirit, and the very underrated eviction notice, but also has the GRU to help against how slow he is and how he is the most vulnerable to enemy spies. Although the KGB and warrior's spirit is fun, I do think they're a little too strong so they should be removed. Can't forget the sandviches though, which would improve heavy's capabilities a good amount.
    Lastly, *Engineer* has the most variation in his class with the ability to be a huge team player or a deadly force even with his low hp. I think to prevent him being too strong though, he should only have the ability to build dispensers so he has to choose over protecting his team or being a glass cannon nuisance with his dispenser by blocking doors. The engineer has the strong widowmaker that needs no reload if he wants to play offensive, the pomson to be a bigger nuisance, or the rescue ranger to be a team player by protecting the strong healing source a level 3 dispenser is. The engineer can also use the southern hospitality to mark any cloaked enemy spies, the jag to quickly get his dispenser back up, or the gunslinger for extra max hp and the crit on the third hit against enemies. I think this balance is probably the most necessary, because even though it essentially makes the frontier justice and eureka effect useless it will prevent him from being in a must have in games.
    That's all I have for the security guards, and luckily the animatronics won't take as long.
    *Animatronics* should also be able to use any melee, invis watch, and I guess sapper of their choosing. The revolver can also be used, but should always be stock to be more fair. Whatever weapons used, the premise of the animatronics is pretty much the same, just depends on the situation and how they're used. If possible though, spy should definitely have more hp. If spy could just have 25 more max hp or at the very least 50 overheal after spawning it would make it a tad bit more fair.
    That's all I have for the animatronics now, and that's pretty much it. If you were to make this an actual map people could play (because that's the whole reason why i wrote this lol) I think 8 max players would be the best. 5 animatronics, 3 guards. If this becomes playable you could make a bigger map or something for more players. Anyways, I just think the whole thing is a cool idea. I enjoy the idea, and maybe with a little balancing it could be something a lot of people could enjoy and play.
    *TL;DR:* remove sniper, all security guards can be soldier, pyro, heavy, and engineer. obviously no primaries for guards (secondary for engi), but have access to all melees and shotgun variations. soldier can optionally use banners instead of a shotgun, engineer can only build dispensers. spies can use any weapons but revolver must be stock. more max players?

    I think it's a greatly designed map. I haven't played it yet obviously but I think forcing guards to spilit apart more or requaiering from them more multi-tasking and baning sniper's SMG would be great changes

    I think that more animatronic classes could spice things up. maybe a melee heavy for a slower, tougher threat. The holiday punch would work well since it rewards heavy for sneaking up on players. either way, great work.

    CONCEPTS FOR EACH ANIMATRONIC.
    Freddy: engineer, Eureka effect only. If i remember correctly freddy could teleport in fnaf 1 so a mechanic could be that the engineer stand-in could only build exit teles and use them to teleport to certain locations.
    Bonnie and Chica, spy. just the gameplay seen in the videos.
    Foxy: scout, melee only. Foxy runs fast, scout runs fast, pretty simple Imo. Maybe implement a mechanic that only lets him run every 60 seconds to copy the feeling he had in the first game? I'm not a mapmaker however and don't know if that would be possible.

      you can make class specific spawns (I think, I never made a tf2 map before but I saw a video of it) and make scouts spawn have some sort of timer or make his respawn timer 60 seconds (if you can, most likely can't tho)

    i feel like itd be an interesting change if you could break the spawn glass, and have to repair it on some other side of the map, the players could break the glass to shoot at the buttons but lose the safety that spawn has, forcing players to have to fight even when the spies rush into the room, but allowing the defenders to play aggressive with the doors
    i dont think its a very fnaf change though

    Hi there Blue, I have some ideas that may make the map a little better and more FNaF-like. One of the problems of the map in my opinion is how you don't really need to use cams, you could to get some intelligence, but you would be basically the same without them since you can just stand in the office with guns pointed at the doors with backs at the wall, so my idea is that, the cameras go 5FPS or less so that the movement of the spies are still visible, but with the possibility for the spies to use the low FPS to trick the RED team into thinking they are going in a direction when they want to go to another, even tho this is a nerf to cams, I want to make them more useful by making the map bigger, more rooms, more way to access areas and to block areas from cams, I would also make that the rooms are a bit darker but with cams are lit up a bit. I would add being able to close any door at any time but adding power, if power runs out, you can't close doors, use cams or anything like that, but you can reactivate it in one of the 4 generator room across the map, spies can still turn off power with another area, but I think it should be like a temporal shut down, 4/5 seconds and then it turns on but still, if you want it back immediately, the room next to the office has the "power go back on" button. The "I go in spawn" tactic of when the spies enter the office I go in spawn so that can use the corners should be removed. All of this to make so that the spies have to think a bit more their plan and strategy and not just rush the office, the security guards instead have to be smart and manage their resources in a way that they don't run out of power and if they do, both spies and REDs have to spit up, one trying to move trough the facility and reactivate power and the spies trying to killing him and at the same time take advantage of the power being off.

    Love the new minigame update, very gud, would suggest maybe pyro locked to shotgun and melee instead of solder so he could unsap with the homewreaker?
    Also, i can tell the server your on is being run on windows, all cause of the METAL PICKUP AMOUNT AT 34:59 , thanks Shronic for useless information like that lmao

    I have next to no experience whatsoever in programming or anything of the sort. But does the game let you add custom music? Because I’m pretty sure the rendition of “Toreador” by the Tiger Dixie Band would be the PERFECT song for this map.
    “Carousel of Curses” might work, too.

    idea:
    foxy as scout (melee only obviously)
    why? well i randomly though of how foxy runs directly to your office in fnaf 1
    maybe even make him spawn in a diferent area than the spies
    edit: also quite possibly turn random crits off
    edit 2: also should the animatronics really be able to operate the doors if they get near the office? i mean on one hand it makes it more risky for the non animatronics to go anywhere , but on the other even without that the animatronics are strong enough , this is just a buff to something that is already strong , and not really required and not really that big a deal
    Edit 3: if the scout is too powerful than restrict him to either sandman only or any melee but with baby face's blaster , and if he is too weak after that then you could make him use non damage secondaries like bonk for distractions , milk for some possible or crit a cola which I doubt will have much of a use but it exists
