Wow looks so delicious 😋I made this once. It was not bad...next time I make it I will follow your recipe..the roti is nice soft and yellow. It is alot of work but it is worth it.
🖐Hi Feefee Delights here 🍽 I got my plate ready! I just love your recipes. Did you say that herb was cilantro? You guys food takes alot of prep and I can just taste it. 😋
@RacquelsCaribbeanCuisine oh, I sure want to try this recipe, but I don't know where to purchase the items. I know I want to at least try the chicken. I dont think I would do well with the bread. 😁
“Sawtooth herb” (Eryngium foetidum) is often the label in Central California where I live. We are blessed with many different peoples and cultures. Cilantro bolts quickly and seeds germinate only in cool soil (unless there are varieties I don’t know about), but Culantro likes hot climates and is sturdier. It sends up a prickly flower stalk but keeps making leaves if you cut it off quickly. Culantro is supposed to hold its flavour well in cooking, too.
I was always curious if you would make a roti one of these days, and you have just answered my curiosity. Now I can really boik my flight ✈️ to your kitchen. That's an amazing dal puri and chicken curry recipe. Those rotis are looking sooo soft.. the curry is looking as gorgeous as you are. ❤❤❤🙏👍🏽💪🇬🇾🇬🇾💯💯💯💯💯🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾
Make sure you save the broth from the dhal to use as a base for you next stew, or even cooking your rice. and I'm straining my brain trying to remember (and to find on RUclips) the old soca classic, I believe called "Rolling Back" which has the line "eating roti and fried chicken, while dey try to mash it down..." Not sure if it was Sparrow or Arrow, maybe Lord Kitchener? Anybody?
What plant are the “split peas” from? Or what kind of dhal. I’m confused. They don’t look quite like any dhal I see around here but that might be the camera angle. I love roti but would hate to use the wrong split pea and end up with a dough that won’t roll out!
Hi Molly Split peas are really the same as regular green peas, the difference comes in how they are processed. The green peas are shelled, dried then spilt in half. There is also green split peas, but the yellow has a creamer and sweeter flavor.
Jerk seasoning! Even the best Trinidadian curry powders don’t give that unique flavour. I have to make my own jerk spice- about the only kind of grocery we don’t have here is Caribbean and I’ve never seen mixed jerk seasoning in any of the others. Maybe some time you can show how _you_ would make a dry jerk seasoning if you couldn’t buy it?
Girl you got it going on lol 😂 food look so nice 😊

@ Oh, okay. Thanks for the clarification. Anyone should be able to get those yellow split peas in any market!
