Austin Babcock That's the problem with the world these days. We are feeding these poor African children with inferior products. At least get them a real Swiss army knife to eat.

swiss army knife is a style of tool not a brand, a generic term used to cover all brands and versions of this knife, Ill make a video talking about generic knife terminology, like how people call all fixed blades buck knives, lol
cutlerylover I hate to disagree with you but a real swiss army knife only is made by victorynox or wenger, v=Td_K6rsn8y4, made in switserland, first ones made in 1884, 8 years ago victorinox took over wenger so all real swiss army knifes are now made by victorinox all others are cheap copies not even worth looking at
cutlerylover Will just reiterate other commenters since there wasn't a reply. Indeed, "Swiss Army" knife is an actual trademark shared by Victorinox and Wenger until being acquired by Victorinox a decade ago. Now, the only legitimate "Swiss Army"-branded knives are made by Victorinox. Admittedly, the brand is prominent enough that it is arguable whether it can be used as freely as "chapstick," "aspirin," or "escalator," is another worthwhile question. Indeed, "Swiss Army" is still trademarked which may or may not be true in certain areas for trademarks like those above that have at least become generic de facto. But, more importantly, in terms of its use in vernacular, "Swiss Army" still conjures up images for virtually everyone of a red pocket knife with the Swiss cross on it, whether specifically Victorinox's emblem or not. This may be a cycle where this association persists with trademark protection, but the fact of the matter is that "Swiss Army" is iconic. ChapStick or Kleenex did not, or perhaps can not, manage to maintain their icon, which is well enough because there are only so many ways you can distinctly manufacture and package lip balm or facial tissue before it becomes ridiculous. Enough competition exists that if "multitool" had been originally trademarked "MultiTool (TM)," it likely would have already been absorbed as everyday language as easily as "dry ice" is now. While this, as I mentioned, can be questioned, the argument surrounding it will ultimately be pedantic. A Swiss Army knife is, both de facto and de jure, a brand held by Victorinox and recognized most commonly by their pocket knives. It would resemble the argument that citizens of the United States not be referred to as "Americans," since America embodies North, Central, and South America. It is arguable but futile...everyone already understands what "American" means. You can probably refer to similar knives accurately as Swiss Army-styled knife, pocket knife, multi-tool, or (most effectively, in this context" any take on "Swiss Army knockoff" or "Swiss Army counterfeit." It is completely understandable and defensible that it people would be confused if you use "Swiss Army" or "swiss army" generically. It is not yet generic _enough_ in both language and law; by that, "Swiss Army knife" has been used to refer to the style of knife generically, but beyond no-name, small-time, or counterfeit products, it always leads back to Victorinox or Wenger's Swiss Army trademark. At the end of the day, it comes down to *competition*. And given the Swiss Army knife design is not especially innovative or appealing enough today for other companies to encroach on and compete with, since customers look emphatically to Victorinox for their reputation and consistently quality products, it probably will continue well into the future if little changes in Victorinox's registration of the Swiss Army trademark and the world of making, selling, and buying pocket knives and multitools. Thanks for the video though! It was hilarious how terrible that knockoff was.
ThatSpeakerofTruth The problem with most American people is that they think everything thats not American made is junk, over here in Europe we made high quality stuff even before Amercia was founded (or even was found by Columbus or even the vikings before that). Americans forget their roots, and that is Europe. So comparing some chinese junk with high quality stuff made in Europe is just plain stupid, even comparing a lot of American made junk to our quality made stuff in Europe is just stupid, a lot of American people still have a lot to learn.
happymark1805 Actually, I think he's poking fun at the fact that a de facto "american designed and packaged" product was obviously made in china with extremely horrid quality control out of materials no one in their right mind would actually make into a tool you would depend on with your life on the line. There should be a ban enforced on crappy Chinese products (or crappy products in general). They are unusable and lead to tonnes of unnecessary waste and pollution. Enforce quality; if you want a decent product you pay for it, and with it you get a guarantee/warranty. Protect your neighbors workplaces and wages, and make shitty products illegal.
fuck that! Buyer's responsibility! If you pay 10$ for a knife and expect to get a good product you deserve the shit piece you get. This company won't last long and the knife will be soon out of production because of how shitty it is. You don't need to ban it to make it go away. Teo Sanchez "Buyer's responsibility!" So you're against product safety codes? I guess you won't mind if you're electrocuted by a shitty toaster - but don't worry, the company who made it won't last.
dictare You are correct ! In my opinion while I own many Chinese affordable products, it should be illegal to make knock offs, posing as an original product from another company that actually has quality. And also importing cheap Chinese stuff and rebranding and selling in another country. Because that is deceit and immoral China makes great products and also horrible and fake products, one needs to know what they’re getting into, but it’s inevitable that many people will be deceived and robbed of their hard earned money ......
Yes they were standard issue when I was in Boy Scouts a long time ago a spoon fork and rather large can opener (not attached though) but I usually just used the knife blade
lol I can't get over ''An american company, package and product designed in the U.S.A.'' ''made in china''. it doesn't make any sense and it's even worse because of how pathetic the knife is. It's more embarrassing than funny.
It depends on the company. Like Stark Clark said some Spyderco knives are made in China like the Byrd series. Many high end mass production knife makers like Kershaw (parent company of Zero Tolerance), Boker, SOG, Ka-Bar, begrudgingly Cold Steel, CRKT, Buck, and Spyderco all make some models in China. Granted they use cheaper steels, cost less, and are generally not as good as the product from the company's home country but they're no joke. Some of the best knives I own like the Kershaw Cryo II and the Kershaw Leek are made in China and are rock solid and high quality. Both of the knives cost around $30- $40 but you honestly cannot go wrong with them and they're fantastic EDC knives.
Some Spyderco branded knives made in china use premium steel also (not talking about the byrd series here). If Chinese quality is so bad, then why does the majority of manufacturing happen there? It would be fun to see you empty your house of Chinese made products, I'm fairly sure it be near enough empty.
Chinese High End products cost just like European or American High End products :P it's their low cost products that are really dangerous (like this knife)
Stark Clark Because, it's cheaper to manufacture (see: outsourcing) in China, than here in the US. As for other things like electronics, these types of products are made under strict guidelines, and are usually made with slightly better quality materials. Not "great", but "just good enough".
"It's like aluminum foil..." Proceeds to bend the corkscrew. Literally just burst out laughing. Great video Jeff! Can't say the same for the Swiss army potato...
What a terrible Swiss Army Knife imitation! I have the real deal Swiss Army Knife and the thing is as strong as an iron tank. Interesting video to watch.
Isabella A Rossellini The genuine Swiss Army knives are great. I still have one I got from my dad in the 1970s. I was laughing at this video how chintzy that thing is. I bet it was made from recycled aluminum cans.
If you have a Dollar Tree in your area, take a look in there and see if they have a "swiss army knife" in there. I bought one once. It's really not good.
You should have titled it "WORLDS WORST KNIFE fake Swiss Army Knife / Multitool". As real Victorinox SAKs and multitools are the opposite of worst. People unfamiliar with real thing might read the title and just assume you mean the real thing as well. Because well people are lazy, lol. But yeah you are right these knockoff are truly horrendous!
Well technically it's not a Swiss Army knife unless its made in Switzerland, specifically by Victorinox, or Wenger (when it still existed). Will youtube allow you to rename the video without having to re-upload?
iamtorcman I got my first SAK two months ago. Classic SD. Wonderful little thing, and I've used it at work so much. Cutting fruit and using the tweezers to remove everything.
+cutleerylover my current edc is a Swiss super tinker and i was wanting to upgrade and i was wondering what multi-tool do you think would be good to edc for me i am a mechanic btw
This video made me cringe, I seriously think those tools, where almost all made of aluminum. Haha. I had to take my Victorinox Officer's knife out of my pocket and appreciate its quality. :p
The tweezers were simply on the wrong side, the would have fit in on the other side just fine^^ And the "fingernail cleaning tool"/nail file is on the smallest Victorinox knives. Like, the ones that are about 2 cm long with just a tiny blade, scissors and a nail file
All small folding multitools regardless of brand (leatherman , victorinox , wenger .. etc ) can be broken with side to side play . This tool has the advantage of being cheap ( about 1 dollar ) . I have 1 too . After it is sharpen I use it to cut envelopes and boxes . That is 1 dollar well spent in my opinion ( instead of breaking the tool ).
I used my victorinox knife for a long time (6-7 years) I carry every time i go backpacking and have never once had a malfunction. I get your point though.
I have several victorinox models .. and i challenge you to try and break off any of the tools like that. You buy something like that doesn't speak well of yourself
I HAVE THIS EXACT MULTITOOL IN MY POCKET RIGHT NOW. Except FAR better-made and SO much more useable. (Also the handle is pink.) Seriously, every tool is in the exact same place (except I don't have the toothpick and tweezers, I lost those, but I think they lined up with the body the same derpy way), and looks almost exact same (except the corkscrew, which is more round, the fish scaler, which just looks a tad different teethwise, and the saw, which has offset teeth and actually looks like it can go through wood... although I haven't tried), but it's much sturdier- I don't see any tool on it bending (Heck, I've even tried, and I don't think I'm a weakling, but none of it even bent, even the corkscrew), and it's far more useable. The only problem I have with it is that the retaining mechanism is actually a bit stronger than I'd like for most tools, except- funnily enough- the almost-useless-for-my-purposes fish scaler, which is a tad loose. But oh well, it works pretty well regardless. And yes, it says STAINLESS STEEL CHINA right on the blade.
I'd never rely on something like this, but back when I was a kid I got a knock off of the Swiss Champ for $9!!! And holy crap was it SUPER shitty and fell apart, but what fun to pretend to have a Swiss Champ. Fun video, I love how crappy stuff is some times! As long as you're not counting on it.
I have a cheap swiss army sort of tool, it's a advertising for outdoor magazine, and it's yellow, and made in China, I'm not sticking up for Chinese made products, but I really don't use it that much, just around my desk to open a envelope or use the scissor, s, and sometimes I use the toothpick, but this one isn't too bad, from the outer appearance it look's like it was made good, like I said I don't use it rough, but so far the edge seem's to be holding up good, would I pay for it more than what I paid for it ($0.00) nope, I believe you get what you pay for, but for a el cheapo seriously it's not bad and worth the price I paid for it.
Breaks my heart that sweatshops in China are driving people to the brink of death just to mass produce crappy knockoffs like this. Have a good day, Jeff!

lol I can't get over ''An american company, package and product designed in the U.S.A.'' ''made in china''. it doesn't make any sense and it's even worse because of how pathetic the knife is. It's more embarrassing than funny.
Funnily enough, there's a place in China called, "Usa".
Ben Stevens Actually, Usa is in Japan.
100legodude Sorry, my mistake. Cheers for the correction.
I love how there's a dog snoring in the background, I know a boxer and bullmastif that both sound like that
Next time I hear someone defending chinese prices/products I gonna shove this video down his throat.
Spyderco Byrd.
Do you know where you can get made in America Swiss army knifes?
n1cowboybebopfan1985 That’s an oxymoron
If its made in America it isn’t Swiss. It’s just a multitool that is a copy of Swiss Army knives
jeff: "BAD TOOL NO GOOD"
Gous: ghhhrrrr
that blade would be perfect for filleting your fish after you remove the scales with the saw
I think this is the exact knife he grabbed in 127 hours
That company ought to be ashamed of themselves peddling such garbage. Id hate to be the poor fella stranded in the woods with that piece of trash.
"It's like aluminum foil..." Proceeds to bend the corkscrew. Literally just burst out laughing. Great video Jeff! Can't say the same for the Swiss army potato...
Now that you "disassembled" it for cleaning, let's see you put it back together. LOL Cheers
How much was that knife, and where did you get it?
Is it me or can you hear gus snoring in the background?
whats the model of the victorinox that this is copied out of? tnx in advance i need answers
I think it'd be cool to see Christina review something, assuming she was okay with doing so.
Thank you, I laughed so much seeing that thing being put in pieces just by bare hands, really funny video! 🤣👍
***** I do.
LOL
+Bongle Pappu I don't mind knowing lol
duckyduck915able Bongle must have been having a lousy day.
ldchappell1 Yep...
It's funny how you say "Let's put the scissors away." When there is nothing left.
If you have a Dollar Tree in your area, take a look in there and see if they have a "swiss army knife" in there. I bought one once. It's really not good.
where can i get one of these great knives please tell me please please
You should have titled it "WORLDS WORST KNIFE fake Swiss Army Knife / Multitool". As real Victorinox SAKs and multitools are the opposite of worst. People unfamiliar with real thing might read the title and just assume you mean the real thing as well. Because well people are lazy, lol. But yeah you are right these knockoff are truly horrendous!
agreed, Im catchign shit because people are making assumptions, its too bad since Im using the term correctly and peopel feel as if Im wrong?
Well technically it's not a Swiss Army knife unless its made in Switzerland, specifically by Victorinox, or Wenger (when it still existed). Will youtube allow you to rename the video without having to re-upload?
iamtorcman I got my first SAK two months ago. Classic SD. Wonderful little thing, and I've used it at work so much. Cutting fruit and using the tweezers to remove everything.
Wrong. Swiss. Check Wiki before posting. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wenger
Actually Wenger was in the French-speaking Jura region and Victorinox is in the German-speaking canton of Schwyz.
My eyes are watering up at the unbelievable quality of this tool.
The tip of the file in swiss army knifes is a nail cleaner
this was the first video i ever saw on this channel, started an addiction for sure.
Is there somebody sleeping and snorting in the background?
+cutleerylover my current edc is a Swiss super tinker and i was wanting to upgrade and i was wondering what multi-tool do you think would be good to edc for me i am a mechanic btw
This video made me cringe, I seriously think those tools, where almost all made of aluminum. Haha.
I had to take my Victorinox Officer's knife out of my pocket and appreciate its quality. :p
Probably not even aluminium, just cheap pot metal. The stuff that corrodes if you think about using it.
The tweezers were simply on the wrong side, the would have fit in on the other side just fine^^
And the "fingernail cleaning tool"/nail file is on the smallest Victorinox knives.
Mate, I've used my Leatherman Wingman for quite a while, and I've never been unsatisfied.
Victorinox for the win
I used my victorinox knife for a long time (6-7 years) I carry every time i go backpacking and have never once had a malfunction. I get your point though.
I have several victorinox models .. and i challenge you to try and break off any of the tools like that. You buy something like that doesn't speak well of yourself
i just love how he snaps off each tool as he goes instead of putting it away JUST TO PROVE how shit it is
I HAVE THIS EXACT MULTITOOL IN MY POCKET RIGHT NOW. Except FAR better-made and SO much more useable. (Also the handle is pink.)
Seriously, every tool is in the exact same place (except I don't have the toothpick and tweezers, I lost those, but I think they lined up with the body the same derpy way), and looks almost exact same (except the corkscrew, which is more round, the fish scaler, which just looks a tad different teethwise, and the saw, which has offset teeth and actually looks like it can go through wood... although I haven't tried), but it's much sturdier- I don't see any tool on it bending (Heck, I've even tried, and I don't think I'm a weakling, but none of it even bent, even the corkscrew), and it's far more useable.
You may have a proper knife
same here mine is bt draper pretty cheap (under five pounds) but its all stainless steel
I pressed read more expecting a small sentence or something but I get 2 paragraphs and a sentence
Doesn't the Non-SD version of the Victorinox classic have that tip too?
its for the acocalypse! you use it to get scrap metal!
It's "My first knife" from Toys-are-us? This must be the most entertaining knife test on RUclips! 😆😅🤣
Zero heat treat
i remember when this video first came out i think. love your old videos cutlerylover. still so funny to watch.
Now in compact size!
which would be the best one I can buy within a reasonable price?
Victorinox thinker for 15 bucks
They used that same metal on the iPhone 6 :P
What's purring in the background?
I came here for worst CS GO knife ever but i guess this'll do.
Dweeb
Calling it a fake Swiss Army knife in general is an understatement...
The company should be ashamed of themselves.
I want it. Where did you buy it?
4:24
what in the name of god did she just say?
Deer Low turn on subtitles🖕🤦♀️
this video is hysterical. i lost it when you showed the corkscrew, holy shit. This is so goddamn funny.
I had this knife when I was 6, don't remember it being this bad
2fake4him
keegan rehill no I definitely had this cheapo one, I just didn't use it that much so it didn't break
keegan rehill I was born in 2001
afrochickenboy im holding it, and mine looks identical but is far more rigid , i think that u had the same one that i have
afrochickenboy me aswell
Where’s the link to buy one?
did you use a Geiger counter before touching that thing?
I seriously died when you broke off that corkscrew. Ha ha ha! Hilarious.
2:25 made me laugh really hard.
That's both sad and funny at the same time, or I should say Hilarious! Thanks for sharing.
It made my day. (I know, that's sad too.)
Breaks my heart that sweatshops in China are driving people to the brink of death just to mass produce crappy knockoffs like this. Have a good day, Jeff!
Do you still have that knife ?
I have one that looks like t but it is steel and the tools look a little different and no "bot-metal"
ROFLMAO! Had to watch with sound muted , which made it even more hilarious. Thumbs up!
I don't think the tweezers are misaligned, I think they are in the wrong side slot.
I have a version of that (similar). but mine doesn't break, twist and has a sharp knife and isn't overall shite
I just noticed on the back of the package, it doesn't even include a toothpick or tweezers.
