Hey! I’m Icoso, a solo indie game developer with a passion for creating games people like to play! For my projects, I program all of the code, create all of the ‘art’, and compose all of the music and sound effects! I have lots of fun putting together my games and I also enjoy connecting with the indie game development community! This video especially was for the 48th Ludum Dare Game Jam - for this part of the event, I participated in the Compo, which gave me 48 hours to make this game. I wasn't allowed to work with any other developers, also, but I still had tons of fun writing the code, drawing up the pixel art, and composing all of the music! I'll definitely be participating in future game jams but this was a really big one, haha, but I'm so glad I got to be a part of it! :D

Hey dont worry the dad test is flawed. My dad once walked in when I had a photo of a horse on screen and said "did you draw that dog?". Great entry, wish I could have participated :)

The music kinda reminds me of Minecraft songs. I think it's probably the timbres you chose that gives me that vibe, especially the arpeggioed bass

RUclips only showed me this video now, but it is seriously impressive how you're able to do all of this in 48 hours. If you spent a little more time on this you could make it incredible and its probably very mobile friendly as well. Great work. Did you make your tiles using Asperite as well? They look good / less pixelated that that other art.
Haha 😅 Thank you very much for the nice comment! Making this into a mobile game would be pretty fun, but I don't quite have the resources for that at the moment, haha. And yep, the tiles were made in Aseprite, too! :)

Ah, ideas are really different for everyone! I suggest making lots of small projects in preparation for a game jam or a main game mechanic you'd like to focus on before the jam starts

I use the Unity3D game engine to put the game together! Aseprite for graphics and FL Studio for music, too! :)

I would like to know why you created all those assets with different colours, I looked closely they all are exact copies of one another just have a different color. I have been handling these scenarios with a black and white gradient color for the actual asset and changing the spirit color in the unity itself as the colors are multiplied, please let me know if creating sprites your way has any advantages I have missed.
You make a great point! If I were doing it super quickly, I'd do the way you're suggesting, but drawing each of them individually just gave me a bit more control over the intensity of the colours, especially the highlights and darker parts of the sprite! I hope that answers your question! :D
