I never realized you made Glow. I remember playing that years ago. Very cool to see the progress you've made in your gamedev journey! It's always super inspiring to see how far people have come over time
Yeah I've had people say that to me often haha, I think people just watched the video some time ago when I didn't have much of a video catalog to be recognisable
Love these kinds of posts, as a guy in my thirties with a full-time job; never touched coding / unity or blendr before, constantly feeling overwhelmed / feeling ecstatic at the slightest bit of progress, it's nice to see that consistency and effort pays off. Like anything in life I guess :D
Yooo I really like the style of this video. Very slick editing. Also, I recognized Protect the Dungeon out of nowhere haha. Didn't know you made that game, but I remember it (probably from a 'Best of Game Jam' video) haha
It's fascinating to see your timeline as an indie game developer! I personally think seeing all the unfinished projects you've made really shows the challenging parts of game development. And the video perfectly demonstrates that, keeping me engaged the whole way through with your storytelling and editing. You've earned yourself a new subscriber! Congrats dude! PS: By any chance, can we get in touch? I would really love to learn something from you, and I can give you some feedback on any of your future projects!
I notice a few times that MashUp switched a project from pixelart to hand-drawn art. I wonder why that is. It seems like his pixel-art-based projects have a much higher completion rate.
Not necessarily, there are a few games I finished that were hand-drawn, it's just that for my big projects I wanted to make them hand-drawn because I want more hand-drawn games in the world aha
Love the video, editing and and progress! I also graduated from Uni in 2020 (although of course graduating in 2020 means I still haven't had my actual graduation ceremony yet lol)
As someone who has been using unity for 9 months I also fail 90% percent of my projects because I am stupid and let my ideas grow and grow and grow while I'm doing the art before I even started programming.
That doesn't sound like anything to be guilty about, everyone has to start somewhere I just made my start by working on one game for a whole month with prior programming knowledge
Hearing your teardown of each game is really useful to hear. I'm glad to hear that you're still keen on building some of them. I love Cardallion as a concept, it's superb. Would love to see more of it. It is tough working and doing game dev at the same time. I'm going to get on with Clomper now... as your final words hit hard. 😂
If I had unlimited time I would probably make all my previous projects into more fleshed-out games, but alas I should stick with just the one long project for now
Wouldn’t it be more fulfilling to complete a project rather then having many little starts that went no where? I understand you don’t have a lot of time to spend, I just don’t understand the concept of spending so much time on a well received game like Cardallion and then sidelining it for the next idea. Such a shame you’ve gave up on Cardallion I was looking forward to being able to play that. It looked like it had some really good potential and I was all ready to pay for my copy.
@@סתיוקומרניצקי I’m a coder I realise burnout happens in all projects. If working for a game dev company they wouldn’t accept burnout as a reason for a game not being complete. Sometimes you just have to muscle through it till the passion comes back or the project is completed.
I haven't given up on Cardallion. It's still being worked on. I have very little time each week to do my own projects and Cardallion is a big undertaking, so I tend to do smaller projects on the side to make videos about. But I haven't given up on Cardallion.
@@MashUpGames why not spend a small amount of time progressing it. Instead of devoting that time on a new smaller project. Surely a small amount of progress is better then no progress.
@@pyrot3chn1c it's a mix of personal things, though the main one is a change of circumstance since the game started development. My hobby isn't just game development but also making youtube content and I don't want to look back on 2021 as "the year I just made Cardallion videos", but instead see a year of fun interesting videos alongside Cardallion. Yes recently it has been leaning away a little from Cardallion but it won't always be like that and even if it does that's okay, things change.
8:00 my least favorite theme I've gotten is it does not exist. How are you supposed to make a game around something literally not existing thats so stupid.
"Because I was really getting into anime at this point" "Where the player gets sucked into an RPG and is completely aware of it" Coincidence? I. Think. Not.
I found a problem online I just wish people would accect me for using unreal engine cause people have been criticizing me for not using unity the only time I will use unity is for mobile games
You sure can be proud of unfinished work! I don't regret any of my projects as with each of them I've learnt something new, and I have no deadline for making my main game so there's no rush with it
Here's to another 36 more games letsgooo
Nice to see Dani here lol
I'll speedrun it this time
The man is verified Nani and this is his first hearted comment lol
@Dani what's up
Omg Dani!!! :0

Headjacker 2: Escape to Africa

Can't wait until cardallions come out. i have been following the series for a while and can't wait to play it!
There’s been no updates for over 6 months and this video shows he’s moved onto other things so not likely to get to play it… shame!
It's still being worked on don't worry aha, I'm going to try and prioritise releasing a prototype sometime soon
Awesome to see how where you started and how far you've come! I can't wait to see more from you in the future.

I doubt you would have seen it in a "Best Of" video, it was a pretty bad entry haha
This just put into perspective how long I’ve been watching your content.
Thanks for sticking round so long!

Wow the progress you've made over the years is incredible! Great video! Looking forward to the upcoming videos😁
Practice doesn't always make perfect but it at least makes an improvement haha
The path to success is paved with failure and learning from those failures. Awesome progress!
Your editing is great! And yeah, I know that work life taking up all time...
Yooo the shop decorations were right! Christmas did come early!
Dude "guild master" had a great idea behind it, you should totally continue
Congratulations! :D I've been doing game dev for the same amount of time! :O
Nice insight into your journey as a gamedev.
What a ride! Here’s to many more. 👌

My "ceremony" was pushed to 2022 but tbh I would go only to see my friends again I already got my certificate
@@MashUpGames Yeah, they've promised us a ceremony but it's in a soon tm sorta situation
Same here with having the certificate
This is so motivational! Thanks for making this

Thanks for making me guilty that my first game is literally cubes moving and floating, and I published it on itch.

Glow remembers meof a game called "Cats are liquid" , but with less story and controls . Needles to say , it`s alright .
Quality Video

I'm a Marketing Programmer for a mobile games company
Quite an inspiring video
What's the Time.deltatime issue?
Good job

I'm not a gamedev, but I personally think burnout is a big problem. I assume working on the same game for weeks can be kind of boring

69 games next
