They should have never signed that record deal, all they needed was a distribution deal really. They could've recorded the album themselves in their own rehearsal space with a few room mics.
I was there too, the stone roses were Goths, I shit you not, nxt time I seen them on Granada reports a few months later, they had ditched the black leather and make up and were the for denim shirts, suede boots, jeans, in fact they looked just like the La's . Another gang of mancs copying scousers. Good musicians tho.. Just thought I'd share that snippet of trivia wid yiz....
If I could go back in time to any year it would be 1987, just to see The La's when Lee still had joy in his performances.
Best performance of Liberty Ship I’ve ever heard.
Underrated band ! They’re so good
What a great addition! This is like having a time machine to go back and experience what we never had the chance to the first time around.

The transformation from the DeFreitas demos 4 months earlier is amazing.
Best la's gig on the net in my opinion
feelin is superb
my greatest find on youtube...cheers bru
Good recording - miles better than the one from the Picket which was released as "Lost La's". Those Larks were great afternoons.
Great post. Good sound.
I've seen a lot of amazing bands in my time but i will never be happy till i've seen The La's live!!
Absolutely on Blob this one !
How the fuck did i miss this, i live a mile away. So gutted i wasn't aware they were playing.
Perfection.
Tremendous.
They're really on it here.
This was the time for the album to happen.
It came out 3 years too late.

@@thegoodsgone1965 For real. Their sound wasn't meant to be studio over-produced/overdubed anyways.
"There She Goes" and "Timeless Melody" would've been on their second album.

Great upload by the way. Just listening to this, eating my soup and relaxing after a hard day on the post. Where'd ya get this recording??
This lead guitar player sounds fine
with the stone roses on the same bill would have been boss to be there!
I only need the La's.
I was there too, does anyone have any pictures or footage ?
Looking Glass is as good as any song recorded or written. Oasis or Coldplay would have loved to write something as sophisticated and unique.
