Tbh it's a harmful thing to post moments when idols are wearing revealing clothes or when their clothes are sliding upwards while dancing even if it's for sapphics. Even if those pages are completely protected and only contain followers who are there to see idols from the gender they're attracted to, it's creepy. Like a lesbian looking for nsfw content of female idols is no different than a straight male looking for nsfw content of female idols, they both are looking for sexualisation of the gender they're attracted to. And if an account is posting that stuff, they are sexualising females no matter which group is their target audience
Sapphic pages started as places where lesbians can interact since back then it was hard for us to find each other. But they lost their main goal and now they're far away from the beginning

Yes you're absolutely right tbh! When idols' outfits move around and put them in compromising positions and people take things like that as an opportunity to exploit them, it absolutely rubs me the wrong way! It's really sad that something which could have been a great way for a group of people to feel safe and comfortable can be turned into something so toxic :(

I really appreciate your commitment to addressing issues in the kpop community like this. Exploitation of minors is one of my biggest problems with kpop, and we need to be calling out fans for doing it as much as calling out companies for doing it.

What I don't understand is, kpop fans who stan female idols always bring up male idol fans having parasocial relationships & sexualising male idols while they do even worse with females in those sapphic accounts. I'm not defending sexualisation of any gender but it makes me annoyed seeing they bring bg stans every single time unprovoked, but they go and openly sexualise female idols then say it's not wrong. Also they always try to discriminate and look down on male idol stans, say stuff like liking females is higher than liking males, insult bg stans for liking men. But when someone calls them out for sexualising female idols or tell them their actions are wrong, they start saying people don't like sapphics because they are homophobic

I agree 100%. It’s unpopular opinion but I think it’s bizarre that people who directly or indirectly speculate about an idol’s sexuality, are shut down and harassed. Often the comments are harmless eg “his girlfriend will be so lucky”. Yeah it’s not great to assume, but the general intention is to be complimentary. I doubt the commenters deliberately use a gendered word because they don’t want to consider an alternative.
However those same fans that play the Nora police, can make endless comments, videos and fan stories that ship an idol with another band member. That is directly making assumptions about sexuality, amongst other things. Someone needs to explain hypocrisy to those people.

About your point on whether or not the accounts are run by saphics or straight men. To me that doesn't matter. At the end of the day they are posting content that sexualises underage girls and of idols in compromising positions. There's no innocence in that. Idols will always be sexualised as mainly the attractive debut, do sexy concepts etc. but damn, as fans we need to protect young idols from that. The only people that find these kids attractive are creeps, no matter their sexuality. I didn't mean to go on a whole rant but as I've gotten older and I see kids younger then me debut, I've realised how toxic of an environment it can be. I hope they all turn out alright but we all know that's not realistic. Thank you for making this video. You're very well spoke and it's great to hear the deeper topics of kpop being discussed.

I don't use Twitter, so this is the first time I'm hearing about this issue and I don't have any context beyond this video, but the speculation you shared about some of these accounts perhaps not being quite what they say they are seems quite believable to me. Maybe it's just my personal bias, since I personally as a lesbian fail to see any appeal of pictures/videos of women in compromising positions (these types of things are very uncomfortable and very much the opposite of sexy to me tbh), though obviously that is just my personal opinion and other wlw could very well feel differently.

Thanks for talking about this! From fanfics to online accounts, I was always uncomfortable when I saw people claiming a certain idol was LGBTQ which I feel is harmful. For one if they aren't part of the LGBTQ community they may feel uncomfortable. On the other hand if they are, and their company finds out this can be so harmful for their lives. Koreans aren't as open minded about LGBTQ and having them be outed would be the worst for them.

It's always a slippery slope when it comes to young or underage idols. I am fan of the new group, CSR, who I am aware are all 17 years old. I always to try to be vigilant about things I see that may be sketchy or suspect when it comes to fan videos or comments on them. It is great that you bring this up since it is an underlying issue especially with how many young idols debut these days. Thank you for always making entertaining but thoughtful videos. ❤ 😄🥰✌

thank you for this, it's been on my mind for weeks now since I saw some of them posting content of minors on my tl and it made me question them, too. alternatively, I do wonder if some of these admins are minors themselves, and so don't realize that this is still wrong even if they're minors and that the audience might not be what they expect. Still, regardless they need to understand the gravity of this and that twt is not enough of a safe space for them to be doing this.

At 24, I'm in this age group where I only really pay attention to new groups due their discography (NewJeans, Fifty Fifty, and Pixy make me feel like the kids are ok, lol). I'm not really simping for any new 4th gen idols due to how young a lot of them are and I'm just not the target audience for a lot of the new concepts even if they are an appropriate age (a lot of them are Teen Crush). Even in 2018, I felt "too old" for K-pop, which tells you about the weird obsession K-pop has with youth. This definitely extends to the sexualizing of these minor idols by anyone, sapphics, men attracted to women, as well as the companies these idols their from (looking at you JYP with early Twice).
But whoever fucking thinks sexualizing teenaged girls is empowering their sexuality as sapphics...y'know what isn't empowering? The pedophile stereotype about queer people.

thank you for making this video informing me about these kind of accounts. i actually follow one of them and i thought it was a positive safe place where ppl like me can hang out, but lately i’ve been noticing some fishy things like men commenting vile things in the comments of posts and the admin sexualising female idols. ofc i didn’t know that they post minors and i’ll go check if this account does this and if so i’ll obviously unfollow but over-sexualising any idol of any age is wrong imo. i only
followed the account to be part of a community but unfortunately it’s just become a place where you ppl can objectify idols for fun. it’s just sad bc, as u said in the video, the outside view of queer women is so messed up and this is just encouraging the view that lesbians are sexual and only like females for their bodies which isn’t the case. it’s sad

this is such an important issue to talk about! as for your theory as to who runs these accs...during one of my twt doom scrolls, i saw a (very clearly cishet man ran) kpop gg 'appreciation' acc get called out for sexualizing girl group idols but they had an almost suspiciously quick rebuttal by pulling up posts from kpop gg sapphic accs which posted similar content to them and essentially tried to argue abt some double standard in the reaction to said content. regardless of what the original intention of these accs are, the fact that they are attracting a certain audience is concerning enough. my favorite type of lgbt+ centered accs are the ones that edit cute lil flags onto idol's faces with words of reassurance :3

I hope no actually sapphics run those accounts because the predator stereotype with the community in general is really bad so literally why would they engage in literal predatory behavior and say it's okay because they are gay like🥲 that's literally the stereotype.
But this is another reason I'm glad I'm not on social media 🥳 KPOP is great but terrible when it comes to exposing minors to the public, especially because a lot of KPOP is aesthetics and making the idols aesthetic to the public which can attract people who will use the fact that idols are technically aesthetically pleasing to justify their sexualization of them. Like you shouldn't objectify anyone, even if they are a public figure who is aesthetically pleasing to you, and especially not when you know they are a minor.
As a gay human, it's just upsetting and also there should be more protections for idols because those people should technically be in jail...but they aren't because it's happening online...and I think that's an issue. A lot of predatory behavior towards minors is happening online now but there aren't enough protections against that so predators feel like they can do whatever they want without being seen as bad because it's through fancams and tweets.
    Everything is gross🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
