I'm German and my English hasn't been good for the most of time because there weren't much opportunities to practice. Than I've been ill for a very, very long time and I've been unable to do anything but watching and listening RUclips etc. My English improved and now I'm able to listen and understand(!) Stephen Fry talking and right now I'm very happy about that!😎
Stephen Fry must be one of the most gifted storytellers I’ve ever listened to. He makes an incredibly mundane moment or subject seem so significant. Very interesting character.
I remember when he and I were much younger and when he wasn’t this pleasant, this accomodating, wise and polite but pushy-er and a bit more arrogant… He aged nicely, I love how he is now
I think it could be due to him decided he would be true to himself firstly and in general go through life &be honest, there is some really good books about him on Audible, like a biography I suppose of course he has then narrated them ,there well worth a look.
15:43 "Social media is just a lavatory wall" - As always, Stephen Fry summarizes a complex topic perfectly and succinctly. Dark Lord please grant this man immortality ❤️
Too true, but then he defends this thing that policy, advertising, and free flow of information is and has directly been impacted by this radical vocal minority. Which I find very odd, given that he *is and has been outspoken against political correctness, which is precisely what the social media mobs enforce and congregate in.
And I used to really love graffiti on bathroom walls back when it was witty, wise and not hateful and cruel. Like, “Imagine climbing the ladder of success and finding it w as leaning against the wrong wall.”
I've watched a few of these and I've just realised why I enjoy these shows so much: it's actually the chat show format which used to be on tv 50 odd years ago ( eg Parkinson in the UK and Cavett in the USA) where the host allows interesting people to speak without feeling the need to perform themself ( eg Kimmel/ Norton). It also helps that the guests come from a variety of professional backgrounds and are genuinely interesting and not mostly actors who are barely coherent without a script.
Being an effective chat show host requires a very special skill and absence of narcissism that enables them to encourage and allow the interesting guests to talk and take the conversation on unanticipated paths. I've not seen this fella before, but he seems to have that skill. Mind you, once Stephen starts talking it can be difficult to stop him. Not that I'm complaining. I could listen to him all day. Hosts like Graham Norton, who I find entertaining, for the most part don't have intelligent guests. They have 'celebrities' whose sole purpose is to promote their latest 'whatever'. There's no point encouraging, allowing or expecting any unanticipated intelligent or even informative discussion from them.
Very much on the nose with this. The best hosts are those that make themselves a blank canvas for the guest to paint on, rather than the now increasingly common US style host who's constantly trying to grab the brush.
@@SkavlanTV As a Canadian who has recently discovered you, I agree. You have the confidence and the security to let your guests feel free to be themselves and thus share the most interesting stories. Thank you.
Stephen Fry is without a doubt one of the most remarkable people I've read and heard of so far. Thanks to the internet that has made the world a connected village in which we all can choose whom to listen to or ignore.
That is so true. He has such astonishing range and seems impelled by an unquenchable thirst to know about everything in the universe. Definately one of my favourite Brits.
Indeed. Was telling my wife only this morning that he would be my perfect Christmas guest. Who better to cook with and sit down to eat with than he? Stephen, if you read this and fancy Xmas in France, hi. We have a spare room. Fanciful and unlikely I know, but worth a try.
I've never seen such a respectful interview on TV, even the guests were listening politely instead of trying to get their bit of attention. The host is exceptional
Yes, CharlieMason is correct, but it goes further than that. The production seem to have deliberately chosen an inarticulate, self-effacing person, whose name will, perhaps, appear later on. Incidentally, isn't it strange how S.F. seems to be the one person on earth to whom it's a pleasure to listen.
Stephen Fry has long been one of my favourite people but I want to make two other observations. First, it is great to see an interviewer who asks quick but interesting questions and then keeps quiet to let people answer. Secondly, as an Englishman it is both amazing and shaming to me to see a foreign TV show where people speak such excellent English. You would search for a long time to find anyone in England with such a grasp of other languages.
I live in Australia (originally from UK) and reasonably well travelled. Not as much as some but just enough to hear those who's first language is something other than English actually speak English far better than a lot of English people. It's a national embarrassment where not only are the various dialects not in keeping with English at an international standard, but the degree of 'lazy' speech that arbitrarily removes letters and fuses two or three word to make one!
well, if the woke lefties hadn't deliberately dumbed down our education system & standards, then you'd have nothing to be ashamed about !! Plus, English is one of the easiest languages to learn so.... Stop crawling, it's so embarrassing.
In the UK, this is the type of chat show that we used to have; interesting guests who were encouraged to speak and tell stories. Now it is just 5 mins of promotion of a latest film/book/tv series. Well done Fredrik and keep this up! You have a very easy, natural way about you. Btw I could listen to Stephen Fry speak all day and I know that I'm not alone in this :-)
I have literally listened to Stephen Fry talk for hours and hours but it's nice to see him Not with a script. He is such a smart man and a very good sport.
Skavlan you have made a rare talk show where your guests engage in a refreshingly free mix of fun and serious conversation. Thank you. You will be missed.
Masterclass in how to do an interview! Three fantastic guests, all of which bring laughter and joy with their anecdotes. Stephen Fry is a huge favorite of mine, but now I have three more... The terrific host, Skalvan (I really wish I had known about this show years ago! The internet is a huge place, so I feel lucky to have found my way to these clips) Herman Flesvig (I will be looking for clips of his live standup shows) and while I'm not really a fan of opera, I absolutely enjoyed Marianne Mörck's candor and humor. And above all, who wouldn't want to have Stephen teach them how to tie a .. tie? I still can't bloody do it!
“Social media is a lavatory wall” …..I’m stealing that phrase right there…i never miss a fry interview…and this is why…man is both a philosopher and a poet….his way with words is what I aspire to….
When i was younger i was so shallow and thought it was all about looks to be attractive to people but how wrong I was as it's all about the ability to relate to people by talking. Stephen Fry is an exceptional conversationalist for sure.
I loved the debate between Christopher Hitchens, Stephen Fry and Anne Widdecombe and some African cardinal guy. When Hitchens said he would trust Stephen Fry to look after his own children and tell his children they are lucky to know him... then he said he would never leave his children with priests or the church lol
I'm a straight conservative man. A few years back, I had the absolute pleasure of working with Mr. Fry for a whole summer. He was so intelligent, thoughtful, funny and most of all kind and generous. I'll never forget that experience.
You really were a wonderful host who brought the best out of your guests. Can only thank you for this pleasure because I watch Anything Stephen Fry is on and can tell you he hasn't been any chatshow in uk for many years where he's so relaxed in such good company able to be his wonderful self 👏👏👏👏👏👏What a pleasure 🙏
I love how Stephen owned (this section of) the interview. He not only has a great way to tell great stories, and many of us want to hear more from him, but he proves to the world that your sexuality is an incredibly important part of who you are, but there are many more things that define you.
In these crazy times I've almost forgotten what a joy it is to listen to Stephen Fry speak. If I met him I could listen to him all day and walk away a smarter guy
I find it utterly hilarious that Stephen Fry says he can't sing. He is so eloquent and so well spoken that simply listening to him talk is a form of music. Everyone on this program was captivated by him, as if he was performing a magic trick.
It's incredible how he can pull words and stories from his mind instantly on any subject he gets asked. The brain is just like any other part of the body, the more you exercise it the more it improves and Fry has helped this along by reading so many books in his life. Sadly i spent this time playing PlayStation games haha.
I actually stopped the video to write that sentence into my notebook. It’s always inspiring to listen to Stephen Fry, he’s a master of intelligent speech
Only Stephen Fry could talk about something as boring as a tie for 10 minutes and still captivate you. The guy is just class. So highly intelligent but never talks down to anyone. Could listen to him talk all day.
Stephen Fry is a national treasure. I got nothing but respect on him. His work on comedy, equality, documentaries, etc. and his wonderful personality, always kind and polite, even to those who are against him. I wonder why they haven't yet knighted him?
The most thing I love about Skalvan is the pause he gives the guests after they reply, and he is very careful not to make any of them feel uncomfortable .. he really listens with no judgment
That's a great interviewing trick. People do not like silence when being interviewed and will continue talking to fill the air, waiting for a cue that they are finished . If the person has interesting things to say, often times you get a gem or an overshare or something deeper than rote conversation.
I could listen to Stephen Fry for hours without getting bored. He spent many years being suicidal. Thank God he has conquered it (I assume?) because it would have been a huge loss. I have never seen Skavlan before but it is refreshing to see a talk show host who doesn't spend all his time interrupting his guests but lets them talk.
Stephen Fry has a condition called Bipolar.... He has a constant fight against symptoms such as depression and is helped a lot with the medications that he is taking. He is a very rare creature indeed.....a very fine example of a good person.
I was you thinking the same.Such a funny and interesting man whose opinions I regard to be far more worthy of my time than 99% of people yet he himself has questioned his worthiness to the brink of suicide.Glad he's still with us.
What I wonder on this subject is if MR. Fry would have such a profound insight on the human nature without experiencing the darkest side of life. I guess he would have, having lived so many lifes through reading, but still. But the thing I admire the most is his dominion of the word, to the extent that he can express what he feels in a way that we can understand him and incorporate those experiences to our life. FYI: English is not my native language so I apologize if there are grammar/semantic mistakes. Greetings from Argentina.
I think he's a little off on that description, or at least a little one-dimensional. I take his point that social media is predominantly pointless ramblings with little function, so in that sense he's certainly correct, but it misses the point that most people get their news and political opinions directly through social media channels, which makes it an extremely influential arena with wide ranging impacts in the real world. If a scientist is banned from social media for disagreeing with establishment ideas (which is an act that is the specific purview of a scientist), if a lie is perpetuated by spread on Facebook, or an ugly political truth hidden by censorship on Twitter, those are hugely impactful acts which can radically shape a society by controlling the flow of information.
Awww Stephen ♥ I worked briefly with him in New Zealand on the script for Dam Busters, he is arguably the most beautiful person I have ever met. Apart from my Mum. He was so caring but also so humble. I cannot stress how much that his battles with depression has helped my own. He deserves to be able to sing. Ironically I am the same in that way. We share many identical issues with social anxiety and he personally helped me see purpose when he was low. A truly beautiful human.
So wise Stephen Fry as per usual, I could listen to this man all day and night. "social media is a lavatory wall" spot on, Social media does not represent society as a whole, One of the major problems with social media is those who use it seem to think it is representational of everything they think do and say. I left social media and it improved my life so much
He's right in the sense of it as being largely uninformed or partisan nonsense, but it misses the huge impact on society of everyone getting their news through social media channels, which control the flow of the information people are permitted to see, hear, and share.
Thank you so much for uploading this. A few days ago I was walking back home through the dark streets of Reykjavik and I saw someone watching on his TV Skavlan with Stephen Fry. I don't have a TV for 20 years now and it was the one time I thought maybe I should buy one. But since this is now on RUclips I don't need to :)
You simply cannot go wrong when you have Stephen Fry as a guest. He is one of a dying breed of raconteurs and the world will be so much duller when he, (and they) are gone. This was a great show and 35 minutes of seemingly effortless entertainment. Subscribed!
There have never been too many raconteurs in my experience. Fry, David Niven, Peter Ustinov, Kenneth Williams at a push, but other than them there isn't that many that I am aware of. They spring up occasionally and there will be more in future. Whether the format is there as a platform for them or not is another issue.
You can go wrong taking him seriously. "The humanist view of the meaning of life is different. I could (and have) listen to Mr. Fry for hours. Brilliant raconteur like Ustinov. Just discovered this channel and subscribed as he seems like a decent chat show host - like Parky who allows their guests to talk - rare these days. Keep up the good work sir
No matter how big the star, any talkshow Stephen is on, they're usually silent, listening with mouths slightly opened, at his intelligence and wit. A fantastic human

A first time watcher if this fine show. Can never get enough of Stephen Fry and I'm a conservative American. Here in the US we had the very best Dick Cavett and plus British David Frost and others as versatile, intelligent and witty interviewers. Jack Parr the original Tonight Show host was brilliant (as a young child snuck into the den to watch late at night) Mike Douglas's 21 year run plus Merv Griffin 8 years or so all were excellent shows/ intelligent and compelling interviewers. Then came the true dumbing down of America salacious interview shows none of which were and are intelligent and stimulating enough for me to watch.
Listening to Stephen Frye go on about ties and still being completely fascinated proves what I always say about him. I can listen to him talk about anything and never get tired of it.
It's lovely to see a chatshow where people get more than three seconds speaking time. Really lovely. I wish there would be more of this. Very civilised. That said, Fry is a lovely guest under any circumstance, he's erudite and well-spoken.
Same here, I could listen to him all day. He is a fascinating curious person, so interested in the world around him. What I love about this show is none of the guests are plugging their latest movie / album / book/ etc.. etc..; the usual marketing rubbish. Just a good interesting conversation.. 10/10.. xx
You do, they're just not in prime time, you have to hunt them out on out of the way channels at weird times of day, you just think of the late night ones because they're the only ones you hear of.
This show never disappoints. The host is always an A1 class act and the guests are always relatable and interesting. I’ve commented before but I just needed to say it again ! Thank you for such a quality, adult show.

Different imaginary friends for different people in different ages. Roman gods, Greek gods, Norse gods etc. Spoilt for choice really. They are all equally ridiculous.
Wow this is absolutely fantastic, no one was rushing anyone to finish speaking, and everyone got a say. They even took the time to practice tying ties :) What a great show. Love how slow spaced it was!! What an awesome host!
Stephen Fry is a must for your fantasy Dinner Party Guest List. Regardless whoever else is on the list, Stephen Fry will delight everyone and make them so glad they came. An amazing brilliant man, the UK must be so proud they decided to produce him.
One can never get tired of listening to Stephen Fry! He's the quintessential fountainhead of rationality and his stature has only grown in this age of manufactured outrage. More power to you, Stephen!
"Social media is just a lavatory wall" I love that little illuminated shaft of perception. Stephen is such a great speaker...so erudite and he always seems to speak with immense clarity. The sort of person that perhaps may monopolise the conversation, purely because everyone else is listening so attentively....I think he would be my ideal dinner date. An immensely balanced mind...always open to the view point of others. I like this host Skavlan too very much...his interviews are always full of freedom and the pleasure of hearing people talk.
Never heard of Sir Stephen Fry before and I must say that I'm impressed. He knows what he speaks of and, therefore, is very confident and talks in a very assertive manner. I'm going to download the Harry Potter Audiobooks now, narrated solely by him...!!!
Thank you for this! Something so simple as a tie can truly bring happiness. I had an amazing Uncle, and he loved fun ties, and while listening to the great Stephen Fry talk about ties, he came to mind and brought a huge smile to my face and heart!
I was (like so many ppl) picked on at school, too. I remember being so tired of being called "stupid" that I came home and began reading all the encyclopædiæ one day. Then I met people who spoke different languages, so got paranoid and began learning languages too. 34 years later, I'm an English teacher, writer, polyglot, and a source of ridiculous info, such as biology of Tasmanian devils, Medieval medical practices and how to make taffy😖 I think this is why Stephen Fry is my hero. Another person dedicated to language and knowledge❤
Amen, and amen. I was picked upon but after ignoring threats I punched the lights out of my aggressor, and no trouble after that. Learning is amazing, and when I left school I had read all the library books in the school, and the village library, and still eclectic in reading, which is the greatest piece of exercise anyone can do, but few actually do, and in Stephen Fry I notice a fellow student in the way he speaks, whilst being down to earth, the practical, and not like some of the fine speakers that are dished up to us in parliament
Aside from the being made fun of at school (he never said this way or that), you sound a lot like my father, who claims he can't learn languages and then reads news in Latvian to me and expects me to understand. :D He can also give out info on all sorts of subjects. You'd think, from the surface, that he's all about natural sciences; and then he goes and tells you all about a 19th century architect you'd never heard of before, and you find out he's seen a number of his creations in out-of-way places already. That sort of thing. I'd be interested in the Tasmanian devils. ;-)
@@beth12svist wow I've been to Latvia but used Russian while there. It's such a cool language😍 but there's just not enough time. Does your dad plan trips around seeing these creations? I found a site for locating artists which helps me stalk them on travels. @@amysanchez3699 He speaks Russian in Latvia as well - his Latvian is more passive than active. Still, he just soaks up languages like a sponge and then reads things in them! I'm honestly not sure how he does any of it - but a lot of it is Wikipedia these days. The Prague Zoo has new Tasmanian devils, they "unveiled" them during the lockdowns and I've been watching their videos of them. :-) I don't know much about them but I got curious!
@@beth12svist I used to live in Prague and that zoo is phenomenal. Whenever life returns to normal, I'll definitely go back. Thank you for the good news!
FOR SURE..ONE OF THE MOST INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL MEN IN THE WORLD..Stephen Fry..his mind and heart and soul..everytime I see/hear him..its like a lil gift to me from the universe💚💚💚
Stephen Fry is such a wonderful raconteur. I just wonder whether, as someone who suffers from Bipolar Disorder, he was a little manic here, barely pausing for breath. He’s always full of great stories and is so entertaining. He’s also been so candid about his mental illness. He’s skipping so quickly from idea to idea, he’s describing exactly the hyper state that he dreaded because he knew it would be followed by a depressive low. I admire his honesty and courage in opening up about this ‘vulnerability’ even more than his god-given wit.
The thing that really took me aback was after 10 minutes of talking about ties with fluidity, wit and eloquence, he was asked why he wasn't wearing a more interesting tie and responded with "I didn't know we'd be talking about ties!" It would've taken me hours of preparation to talk on any specific topic with a hundredth of the skill that he can just pull out conversationally without a second thought.
Wonderful host, you get the best out of people while they remain themselves, now that's a talent! Your guests are happy to share with you their life experiences, wit and wisdom because you make them comfortable and make watching Skavlan a real experience, so thank you!
There was a post on Facebook that asked if you could have a famous person recite your eulogy who would it be, I said Stephen Fry, such a great voice he's a real class act!
Stephen Fry reminds so much of my father, who passed away a few years ago. Even his speech and mannerisms are very similar. They even look much the same. I could listen to Stephen talk about anything all day long.
Holy Crap! Steven Fry just uttered the most brilliant words when he said "Social media is just a lavatory wall." Talk about hitting the nail on the head.
Stephen Fry is a world treasure. I'm pleased to watch such a well organized show with a host that asks the right questions to further such a discussion.
Seriously!? I just sat through another engaging and thought provoking show, only to learn at the end that this is finishing? (I hope I misunderstood what Stephen said.) It's so rare to find a show of this calibre: where guests are shown genuine respect and given the space and time to explore and share. So rare for a host to guide their guests to the starting blocks and then sit back - without their own ego demanding attention - and enjoy the journey and revelations, along with the viewers/audience. Thank you!
Mr Fry is an absolute legend. A clear thinking, intelligent, gentile man who still represents the very best bits of being British and being a good person. This show was a great platform and I liked the host and the other guests too - good stuff!

stephen fry would be one of the guests i would invite to my ultimate dinner party if i had to choose a past or present famous person, he is so interesting and a national treasure..
I feel the genius of Stephen Fry is that he truly knows soooooo much but he never makes anyone around him look or feel inferior. He's just having a chat. Most people would want you to be aware of how much more they know that you.
His description of learning to use one's wits to avoid being beaten up really resonates with me. I grew up a fat, nerdy, non-Mormon in Salt Lake City, Utah. In other words, I was Bully Bait. Eventually, through a love of reading, film and...most of all...music, I developed developed a relationship with language that enabled a Cyrano-like defense. Bullies are far less likely to target you, if you can make them laugh...even at your own expense. I also loved his observation about how it's only right that young people should want to change the world to suit _their_ wishes since _they_ are the people who will have to _live_ in it after we're gone. When he puts it like that, I think of somebody who is to inherit a house. Why shouldn't they at least start _talking about_ what they intend to do with, making plans for the future. It has been said that, "Tradition is peer pressure from dead people." Once we _move out,_ it's _their_ house to do with as _they_ see fit. P.S. In junior high school, my dad taught me to tie a Double Windsor (AKA: Full Windsor), and it has been my "go to" ever since.
Stephen Fry is a gifted human being: he's educated, smart, funny, respectful of others' point of view, empathetic, sensitive, humble. We're lucky he exists and can listen to him.
What a wonderful person Stephen Fry. I could listen to him for hours and days and months and he'd never bore me. What a well spoken, wise and literate man.
How isn’t Stephen Fry just the best kind of human being …to the point , he gives me hope for some of mankind 💝he’s so real …so refreshing…..thank you , watching this made my day x…and we get to see an amazing opera singer fall in love on air ….too cute ..hey I would too x
Oh Stephen Fry is absolutely the top 3 humans I've ever encountered..without having a personal encounter. I'VE never met him, seen him personally even, but every moment I've listened to his words..I'm left in no doubt..if the world was made up even ONLY HALF WAY of people like Stephen Fry,what an absolutely wonderful world we would inhabit..
He's so cool. And like him I like to travel and buy neckties (or pocket squares more so now in the world of business casual). He's a very cool guy and a GREAT narrator, who cares if he can't sing
I met my boyfriend, (now husband) in 1983. We knew that it was the real thing and just carried on with life. Almost every man I had dated before that time is dead. It is quite sobering. By getting together we saved each other.
I certainly hope that Stephen Fry is wrong and that you keep going with these shows. You are definitely the best talk show host I’ve seen since Dick Calvett and Michael Parkinson. Thank you Frederic for being the consummate professional yet personal host you are.
Stephen Fry, when interviewed, reminds me of the late Orson Welles. Mesmerizing conversation and so very entertaining. As with Welles, I always learn something.
Lovely stuff Stephen. It's rare to see a public figure who just speeks common sense. I'm tired of people who just want to hate on everyone else and anything that means change. We should all strive to be better not fight against it.
Thank you so much for such an insightful interview with Stephen Fry. I have long admired and adored him on so many levels. I was quite taken with what he said about forgiveness. He manages to forgive others, but still struggles to forgive himself. I see this so often in the world, and used to struggle with self-forgiveness myself, but not any more. I also enjoyed thoroughly what he had to say about religious language. Forgiveness releases you temporarily. You can breathe easy now. You have just eliminated one enemy from your life. That produces a great relief. So, forgiveness always produces a relief, and with relief you are able to see the situation differently. It is not threatening to you now. If it is ridiculous, it does not matter. Life here is ridiculous! That is why you have come." From a free online book called Wisdom from the Greater Community I also would love to hear what Mr. Fry would have to say about the religious language from The New Message from God. I have never come across anything like it in my life. His view would be absolutely fascinating.
Oh that's a great question to ask from him. Thanks for bringing The New Message here. I agree with you 100 %, it's unique, a pure gift of love. Thanks ALW.

I remember when he and I were much younger and when he wasn’t this pleasant, this accomodating, wise and polite but pushy-er and a bit more arrogant…

@@plica06 Cause this is an interview of Stephen Fry, lol.
I wanted to hear more from the other guests too
I've watched a few of these and I've just realised why I enjoy these shows so much: it's actually the chat show format which used to be on tv 50 odd years ago ( eg Parkinson in the UK and Cavett in the USA) where the host allows interesting people to speak without feeling the need to perform themself ( eg Kimmel/ Norton). It also helps that the guests come from a variety of professional backgrounds and are genuinely interesting and not mostly actors who are barely coherent without a script.
I love Parky & Cavett, only discovered Cavett recently and watch his shows on YT.
What a lovely comment, thank you!

I've never seen such a respectful interview on TV, even the guests were listening politely instead of trying to get their bit of attention. The host is exceptional
That's because he's not American.
@@ripdbtpoo1441 what?
I love Stephen Fry, even more after this interview. Nice job on this one, Mr. Skavlan.

I guess he would have, having lived so many lifes through reading, but still. But the thing I admire the most is his dominion of the word, to the extent that he can express what he feels in a way that we can understand him and incorporate those experiences to our life. "Social media is just a lavatory wall." So true!! Such wisdom from the great Stephen Fry.

He hasn't been knighted (yet).
It gets said a lot, but I truly mean it when I say Stephen Fry is a magical man. One of a kind. Definitely worth seeing more of!
Thank you for this! Something so simple as a tie can truly bring happiness. I had an amazing Uncle, and he loved fun ties, and while listening to the great Stephen Fry talk about ties, he came to mind and brought a huge smile to my face and heart!
Hello, how are you
I was (like so many ppl) picked on at school, too.
I need someone like that in my life because (un)surprisingly, not many people want to discuss these things but at least I found a Tasmanian Devil fan!
FOR SURE..ONE OF THE MOST INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL MEN IN THE WORLD..Stephen Fry..his mind and heart and soul..everytime I see/hear him..its like a lil gift to me from the universe💚💚💚
...and so incredible ... as a Lover . . . .Amen !!!! . ... .Hallelujah .. ..
Such a great show that we don't have in UK. I can listen to these well conducted & intelligently facilitated conversations for hours.
Stephen Fry is such a brilliant man. So eloquent and wise. It is always such a pleasure to his words and how he verbalizes „ life“.🙏😌✨❤️
The thing that really took me aback was after 10 minutes of talking about ties with fluidity, wit and eloquence, he was asked why he wasn't wearing a more interesting tie and responded with "I didn't know we'd be talking about ties!" It would've taken me hours of preparation to talk on any specific topic with a hundredth of the skill that he can just pull out conversationally without a second thought.
Wonderful host, you get the best out of people while they remain themselves, now that's a talent! Your guests are happy to share with you their life experiences, wit and wisdom because you make them comfortable and make watching Skavlan a real experience, so thank you!
I just caught that last thing Stephen said 'Almost your last show'. Nooooo! You're the best talk show host in the world! Please do a few more years!
Again, what a fantastic show. Skavlan you always have the most interesting guests. Look forward to any episode uploaded on YT here in the UK. Thanks!
I love this show too, I live in the USA since 1994, used to live in Belgium.
"I am sorryy to keep talking.." - I am not. Can listen to Fry all day.
This was so good with such wonderful people. Huge thanks from the UK.
Seriously!? I just sat through another engaging and thought provoking show, only to learn at the end that this is finishing? (I hope I misunderstood what Stephen said.)
It's so rare to find a show of this calibre: where guests are shown genuine respect and given the space and time to explore and share.
No, he's rather a dolt.
"The humanist view of the meaning of life is different. Humanists do not see that there is any obvious purpose to the universe, but that it is a natural phenomenon with no design behind it. Meaning is not something out there, waiting to be discovered, but something we create in our own lives." Stephen Fry
Real science says nothing does nothing. Real science says if there was something there already it must fit with the evidence of what we know. We know the 1LT says there's a conservation of energy. It can change forms and neither can be created or destroyed. Creation cannot happen by natural means. The 2LT has various aspects, one being the universe is winding down, entropy. Usable energy is becoming less usable, so at one point usable energy was at its max. This all points to a supernatural creation, by a supernatural creator at a certain point in which matter, space, and time were created. When I read how it can happen otherwise, ALL the fools resort to science-fiction. Once a supernatural creation is accepted, then the next step is finding proof of what supernatural power did it.
We can't even get science without God. The laws of nature only can come from a Lawgiver, God.
Life only comes from life. Law of biogenesis.
God is the reason for us and all we have.

@@kiwitrainguy as I showed, he was a stooo-pid man.
stephen fry would be one of the guests i would invite to my ultimate dinner party if i had to choose a past or present famous person, he is so interesting and a national treasure..
I like Stephen Fry so much, i can listen to him for hours and i am very pleased to know that his family has ties to my hometown.
And i´m watching this again and i agree so much with him about sex and love. Finding a person i want to be with is a great goal in life.
I don't know what it is about Stephen, every time he speaks, everyone listens in silence. He truly is a captivating character. 😁
"This guy was talking to me for ages about ties."
"Oh god how boring!'
"No it's ok, it was Stephen Fry".
Stephen Fry is a gifted human being: he's educated, smart, funny, respectful of others' point of view, empathetic, sensitive, humble. We're lucky he exists and can listen to him.
"The water is coming, you know, and I have my bottles." -- Marianne Mörck, comedy genius, 2021
He looks great. Finally congruent as the wise old philosopher
@@iociccio936 are you okay there ?

I met my boyfriend, (now husband) in 1983. We knew that it was the real thing and just carried on with life. Almost every man I had dated before that time is dead. It is quite sobering. By getting together we saved each other.

Wonderful to hear ❤️
Siamese if you please, siamese if you dont please x
the host is an excellent interviewer. He doesn't let himself get in the way of a guest's speaking and giving their views
I certainly hope that Stephen Fry is wrong and that you keep going with these shows. You are definitely the best talk show host I’ve seen since Dick Calvett and Michael Parkinson. Thank you Frederic for being the consummate professional yet personal host you are.
I love the Opera singer. She’s so cute when confessing her secrets.
Stephen Fry has the ability to make anyone in his company feel wonderful about themselves
"take the heat out of all this" wise, true, understated, and desperately important. this man is my idol
Stephen Fry, when interviewed, reminds me of the late Orson Welles. Mesmerizing conversation and so very entertaining. As with Welles, I always learn something.
I love Stephen, simply off the scale intelligence and knowledge, without any ego.
Lovely stuff Stephen. It's rare to see a public figure who just speeks common sense. I'm tired of people who just want to hate on everyone else and anything that means change. We should all strive to be better not fight against it.
I consider Stephen Fry to be the most influential person in my life just because I've learned so much from him. This was a great interview. Thank you.
That is why you have come."
From a free online book called Wisdom from the Greater Community
I also would love to hear what Mr. Fry would have to say about the religious language from The New Message from God. I have never come across anything like it in my life. His view would be absolutely fascinating.
Thanks for sharing!
What new massage?
Oh that's a great question to ask from him. Thanks for bringing The New Message here. I agree with you 100 %, it's unique, a pure gift of love. Thanks ALW.
Thanks for quoting Marshall Vian Summers.
@@rehabwales this one has a happy ending
I so enjoyed that clip - thanks a million for sharing. Stephen Fry is such a lovely, warm, funny, and super intelligent person. I never tire of listening to him speak. He seems to have little lessons for everyone and zero judgement of anyone. A class act!
Fabulous insight and calm, open minded attitude from Stephen Fry as always. Cheered me up.
