So, plagues and epidemics have ravaged humanity throughout its existence, often changing the course of history. Scientists and medical researchers have for years have differed over the exact definition of a pandemic (is it a pandemic, or an epidemic), but one thing everyone agrees on is that the word describes the widespread occurrence of disease, in excess of what might normally be expected in a geographical region.
Cholera, bubonic plague, smallpox, and influenza are some of the most brutal killers in human history. And outbreaks of these diseases across international borders, are properly defined as a pandemic, especially smallpox, which throughout history, has killed between 300-500 million people in its 12,000-year existence. Throughout the course of history, disease outbreaks have ravaged humanity, sometimes changing the course of history and, at times, signaling the end of entire civilizations. Here is a timeline of the 20 deadliest epidemics and pandemics, dating from prehistoric to modern times.

The funny thing about history is when society study it and teach it but does not learn from it.
In fact, not only did they not learn but regressed and got way dumber! Now they believe we don't need vaccines! I wouldn't care if it just killed them off, but unfortunately the microorganisms spread and kill others.
@@johnruiz6743 Side effect of the plagues :)
Polio was forgotten completely as was tuberculosis, both had extremely high death rates. I'm not sure all of these recent outbreaks qualify as "pandemic", which is not the same thing as an epidemic.

Nice historical overview.
The chart quantity title, "Casualties in Millions", however, is misleading; just "Casualties".
Legend says "Casualty in Millions" but the figures are individuals.
There's also noises in the background and poorly looped music. Rather shody video.
I think it means rounded to millions
God when Italy survives Black Death but begins collapsing with the Coronavirus: That’s a twist
What are you talking about? Italy is no where near collapsing, they just closed their boarders.

@@thetf8142 here's what i can tell you. The plague and Covid is the same. Covid is not lethal but the infection is way way higher than the black death. The more people gets it the more people will die. Just like black death, lots of people get it bc they didn't knew that there is an outbreak of the black death. And btw that 1 billion to 5 billion people infected might be us, who knows. Lucky on this day we have n high tech devices to track covid. Bc if this coronavirus happen in 1800 back then idk what will happen to them and to earth. Since this virus has human to human transmit and airborne transmit.
@@thetf8142 at Lethal rate, rabies, Ebola, and black death is on the top. But for infection rate Coronavirus is rank 1. At 45 days? 1 to 5 billion people will get it and 100 to 200m plus plus plus will die if no lockdowns ever happen.

Yikes, it's only three days after this video was made and the deaths has more than doubled since then (it's at about 27,000)

Yep, that's the way a 3 day doubling period works. In the next three days as many people will die as have died to date as of right now.
?
Meanwhile other pandemics killed millions
Hopefully this ends tomorrow but we all know it won’t, this could become 1 million +
people killer, if we don’t get control of it. Too soon to see what this one turns out to be, I hope I’m wrong and that there’s no more deaths but I highly doubt that.

The 'Casuality in Millions' label at the bottom of the chart should not be there, otherwise, 1,000,000 would be represented by 1, 100,000 by 0.1. Since the actual numbers are shown, 'in Millions' should be removed or the numbers should all be divided by 1,000,000.

This feels less like 20 Deadliest pandemics, and more like the last 20 pandemics in order. Maybe next time order them by case numbers or deaths?
I agree
Better yet, order them by percent of population killed at the time. That truly shows how deadly the pandemics were, relatively speaking.
Well the title does say "(Timeline of Worst Epidemics & Pandemics Till Date)"
Maybe you all should make your own damn videos instead of telling this person how it should be done 🤷♀️
That's why it's called a timeline
Hi super good more people need to see this, this will help out more people in the world.

Sars: sadly yes
Sars cov-2: but i lived
There are some issues in your numbers. Also, Covid 19 is actually called, SARS Cov-2. The original SARS is now called SARS Cov-1. MERS is also a coronavirus!
Good Explanation
This was an (commercial) interesting video regarding some (commercial) current subject matter that is of (commercial) broad appeal right (commercial) now.
As of 10 Jan 22, COVID-19 has a 5.5 million world-wide death count. Although considering that here in the US, where there have been 836 thousand deaths, public health leaders are now calling for hospitals to distinguish between dying of COVID and dying while having COVID, it is quite possible that those numbers are inflated. Curious to know how other countries have counted their deaths.
Also in Germany. How much died WITH or ON COVID. All unknown an only mess up.
These numbers (since then ADMITTEDLY by certainly the UK ‘government’) were grossly artificially inflated. They included the millions of seasonal ‘flu deaths each year, people who died with anything even vaguely resembling a respiratory condition, people who died of ANYTHING if within 4 weeks of a +ve C19 test, people who died WITH C19 and not OF C19. Now they’re admitting it’s not been as dangerous as they thought!
The UK ‘government’ sent an instruction around to all hospitals and doctors’ surgeries that if anyone dies of anything even vaguely resembling a respiratory problem it should be recorded as a C19 death. For each person who died ‘of’ C19, each hospital was awarded £17,000 by the UK ‘government’. Figure it out!
Oh boy… the history books will have a field day with all this hyperbole nonsense!
It does not inflate much. It's negligible.
as of today we are at 1 million in the US and the doesnt count bas testing, and excess deaths. A BBC article from the WHO is now saying the world death toll is nearly 15 million when accounting for all of the factors.
Who’s here in 2020? hopefully we can all check in next year! Please stay safe fam, wash your hands 🙌🏼.

Just about any strain of influenza is worse than the Coronavirus
"Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS) is a severe, sometimes fatal, respiratory disease in humans caused by infection with hantaviruses.
Anyone who comes into contact with rodents that carry hantaviruses is at risk of HPS. Rodent infestation in and around the home remains the primary risk for hantavirus exposure. Even healthy individuals are at risk for HPS infection if exposed to the virus.
To date, no cases of HPS have been reported in the United States in which the virus was transmitted from one person to another"

If you think running news stories 24/7, causing panic and selling stories is not cashing in on the situation and over dramatizing then it is not me that's ignorant. Do some research on how plagues in recent history/currently ongoing compare to this one in terms of fatalities before you run your mouth. 541-750 AD, how was the plague able to last so long?
Scary
Can you do this in deadliest per capita? Is this possible? I know they didn't have a census or anything back for most of them, but there should be pretty accurate estimates.. . Also how many people were infected with each virus in relation to the deaths. I mean something killing 1000000 ppl when the population is only 5000000 is deadlier than one that kills one million people when the population is one billion people.. and if 1of 5 ppl die that become infected is not as deadly as a virus that kills 1 of 2 people.
