Maam i could not understand how the top reinforcement came out to be more than the bottom. As we know the singly reinforced beam needs only tension reinforcement at the bottom.
Can you plz explain a bit more?

The beam IS singly reinforced.
Top reinforcement is calculated at Supports and Bottom reinforcement is calculated at Midspan.
Support - Tension face at Top
Midspan - Tension face at bottom
