- Greg Zielinski, general manager of the Amazon Fulfillment Center in DuPont, Wash., gives GeekWire a first-hand look at how Amazon fulfills orders during its busiest shopping day of the year. The enormous 1 million-square-foot facility uses a combination of advanced robotics and humans to bring packages to your doorstep.
I worked at a fulfillment center in Illinois for 7 months at night. The most depressing experience I ever had working. Write ups were a joke. I got write ups for 6 errors out of 3000 counts. I was a counter. Once I got off of one write up, I was put on another. I tried to stay off of write ups so that I could change my job or get promoted to something else. It was impossible. When I started I saw my regular people at the breaks in the break rooms...after a few months I noticed those who stayed, started wearing braces and arm wraps etc... People were walking around injured from repetitive stress issues. I saw one poor person walk around and work in one of those "skiboots" foot casts. Amazon does not let anyone take enough time off to physically recuperate.
After repeatedly not getting promoted for anything else, and getting constant write ups....I was happy I found another job. Horrible work environment.
I wonder if it's still the same
I worked at the one in west Jefferson Ohio and it was a joke Amazon is a joke
Have worked at Amazon for 8 months as an order picker. I am 63 yrs old, mostly working for the insurance coverage that begins on your first day. Costs me $50 per wk for wife & I to get full medical & dental coverage and life insurance. Very tough job for some, non-stop walking for 12 hr shift. Lost 35 lbs in first 6 weeks. Very high turnover. Had 165 new hires start with 150 of them quitting within a few days. Sounds easy to just "walk" for 12 hrs until you have to do it for consecutive days keeping up a 100 pc per hr pick rate. Overall a good company, lots of rules but easy to follow for a mature person.
Frank Urbanski That’s what I’m looking for. Just applied at a center in Coppell Texas. I start October 16th.
I don’t know exactly how you guys pick or picked at Amazon but normally you’d be on an order/cherry picker with fatigue mats. However truth be told, picking is not a 60 yr old mans game, it’s intended for younger entry level workers who want to establish a foundation in supply chain.
Biggest challenge is getting your humans to pick 400 pieces an hour
Sorry I don't know what was being said between 2:04 and 2:16.
I had to rewind the video, before i saw your comment, just to rewatch/listen.
AVKI123 Its her ASS !
that ass
Yup. Noticed the same thing. And, also later in the video. Very nice!
I was going to say the same...
Soo many Haters. This is the work America Needs right now. I'm an Amazon employee and trust me I've been every where in my 14 years of "actual work experience". There is A very good reason Uncle Jeff is the richest man in the world.
5:06 - "Look! Thats that bastard who stole Larry's Job!"
The Interviewer is a Bobble Head. Keeps shaking his head as the GM talks.
5:45 “That we’re tol- looking to do” whoops 😂
Guy on right is 85% merged from robot to human
I understand that Amazon are setting up warehouses here in Australia next year, I wonder if they'll work in this way when customers order things, or will they work in a different way?
I would imagine the same way
Lachlant1984 They're all different. Based on needs, what they ship, where they ship, etc. But if they're building something new, it will be with the most modern tech.
I hope that it is the same as it works brilliantly. We have friends in Australia and are hoping to be able to order for delivery in Sydney in time for Christmas.
I wonder if they will build everything backwards
They definitely seem like their from Washington.
what do you need the wilderness for when you can have amazon cardboxes...
You could really see the chaos!
how many skus do you have? "Units" don't matter I could have 3 trillion units if they are all one sku it'd be easy.
I am also working in Amazon. The very greater company. I like very much this FC. I like here equality. I am working in BLR7
So there's a robot tugging function huh
Shift items in Tanzania there are many customers

Amazon guy sounded like he was reading a script. Had nothing interesting to say.

We live in a dystopia
3:59 a little chockle there buddy. You know thats b.s.
Amazon sucks !.. pay there Prime subscription or wait 2 - 3 weeks for your order
@Burr Anderson what are we 5
There's an amazon warehouse in my town and I bet the staff turnover is rediculous, this isn't even a proper job it's just some shit place you go if you are desperate steer clear
I would have thought that helping desperate people was worthwhile and something to aspire to!
"Fulfillment centre".... "units".... "associates"..... > Buckleys Chance < as we say Amazon.
The guy with the microphone is cute. 😍 😍
Terrible interview format! Way, way too much face time of these guys and not enough of the equipment and movement of items. They could continue to provide narration but overall this is an awfully weak video for something like the Amazon monster.
i wonder if Greg Zielinski gets adequate p breaks
cool
Uh
Minimum wage no thanks ...
Starting pay is around $12 and overtime
$15/hr isn’t minimum wage where I’m at. 👀🤷🏽♂️🤪
