The taking and abuse of "comfort women" is one of the most horrific events in modern Korean history. To violate those statues is to mock victims of slavery, SA, torture, and other war crimes.

    • @zaynes5094
      @zaynes5094 16 дней назад +4

@mckinleyostvig7135 I mean, I hate to say it but it's not really as bad as what happened to those who were under the Unit 731 regime in China. They got it the worst. To Japan, the reason they wouldn't apologize for what happened, is because it was their way of getting back at Chinese and Koreans for what they had done to Japan for the past 400 years.
Japan and Korea are very different even nowadays and especially in their law.
Japan sometimes won't give you any good lawyers and will grill you until you fold.
The Japanese care about their environment, their people, and solving pollution problems. Korea doesn't really care to fix any of that stuff but in some ways South Korea is just as bad as North Korea.

@@zaynes5094 Koreans and their close genetic cousins, Manchus, were also victimized by Unit 731. The unit was based in Manchuria which is why they were also known as Manchu Detachment 731. The Manchurian region has historic ties to Korea and ethnic Koreans live there today (China as well, of course).
Regardless... I don't see the purpose in the downplaying of the comfort women issue, intentional or not.

Honestly you can’t compare what he did to the comfort women statues to anything else because what he did would always be so much worse. The statues depict the women who were r*p*d and sexually abused repeatedly and horrifically during the war, many of whom were younger than 18, aka CHILDREN. What he did was basically feel up on the statues of those children, dance all over them, do extremely vulgar gestures and just continuously sexually harrass them. I’m not even Korean but I consider what he did unspeakable and horrifying. I’m not surprised that people are looking for him, and tbh I doubt he’ll leave Korea in one piece.

Johnny is single handedly destroying the reputation of foreigners in places like South Korea and Japan. The perception of foreigners in these countries is already fragile as is, I hate that these streamers are ruining everything for locals and respectful visitors alike. They literally banned all foreigners from the geisha district because people kept putting cigarettes out on the geishas and SA’ing them. I wanted to be able to visit these places eventually because there are so many amazing things to see and learn, but I am so embarrassed by the behavior of talking hemorrhoids like Johnny that I’ve pretty much given up on the idea of it ever happening. It is such a privilege to be able to travel to someone else’s country, but all it takes is one spoiled delinquent to ruin it for everyone. I don’t think my word matters much in this case as the damage has already been done, but I sincerely apologize to locals in SK, Japan, and any other country that was unfortunate enough to have been visited by Johnny, for the utter disregard and disrespect that was shown to you. I can’t express enough how disgusted I am by this sad excuse for a man.

1)All Korean men have to serve in the military for 18-21months (very few exemptions)
2)If you ever traveled to Korea, you would know this, they take your picture and fingerprints at the airport upon arrival.

There's one particular streamer of this nature who got arrested in Trinidad for his nonsense, and a lot of black influencers came to his defence, condenming the country, and even sent him money for lawyers, despite the disparaging things he says in his videos towards people of African descent and Africa. I know that many people here might be thinking, the past is the past, who cares about a statue, is it really that bad.
Yes, it is. It's about our grandmothers, our great aunts, maybe our great grandmothers and the trauma that passed down from it. Some comfort women are still alive. The pain is exacerbated by the Japanese government's unwillingness to acknowledge their war crimes. Hearing about the extent of the brutality, it was horrific what these women had to go through.
So congrats to Johnny Somali for giving a public face for all of South Korea to vent their frustration and anger out on. Hope the Korean mafia find him and his friends. Hope Hank Yoo has gotten the shit kicked out of him.

The past is never just the past, it's what led up to today. We have to learn from it to avoid it, or it gets repeated.
A statue is never just a statue, even if it means nothing. I can still hold meaning to other people, and should never be disrespected.
Those statues were there to remember atrocities that occured during WW2, not for some crackhead to f**k with.
I can only hope, if he ever gets out of prison, and still somehow finds himself unable to leave, that those same statues will hold meaning with him, even if it's only the *pleasant* memory of his stint in the Joint.
I apologise. Your country shouldn't had to have dealt with this. At least something is being done to rectify this.

I keep hearing, even in this video, that the Japanese government is CONSTANTLY groveling and apologizing for it. And even made monetary amends.
The Japanese of ww2 were assholes. You lying about the Japanese not taking responsibility and making amends where they have makes you the asshole now. Knock it off. Because it sounds like you're trying to convince japan to go back to their old ways, seeing as turning over a new leaf is just getting them more hate. Keep it up and you can expect a repeat in the next war.

I believe that the pain of awful situations like those ones should be remembered. I'm sure many Japanese especially younger ones would even agree. They don't have to feel guilty after all they may not have even been born at the time. But all around the world we have to remember our worst moments in our past so we know what can't ever be allowed again. Johnny is a damn idiot and a disrespectful asshat. He deserves any punishment he gets for his actions.

im a korean living overseas.... i'm a huge proponent of freedom of speech and what not. however distastefully and intentionally mocking my country not just through words but through public action IN Korea makes me actually chuckle from disbelief and FULLY knowing what will happen to him. I doubt it but hope he learns his lesson not to indulge in his disillusions and seek actual professional help with his mental state. if not we all know how this will pan out eventually.

This has been going on for a long time, and he has done this in a few countries now. I don't think he's the type of person to learn, and he probably doesn't want to learn either.

I don't believe there is anything wrong with him. He's doing this for greed and because of being raised improperly. No respect, no morals, he says so himself.
It would be one thing to be unaware. He is aware, and doing it purposely.
