  • ✨Music Producer: I am a new/indie producer. I’ve been approached by a music publisher to sign a deal. The deal includes ownership of my back catalog. Is this standard?
✨Yes, when publishers are approaching new songwriters/producers, they will typically ask for ownership in their back catalog.
✨A song(s) in your catalog is what most likely got them interested in you. Ownership in that work is what attracted them, and ownership in potentially new amazing future works of yours is what has them sending you a contract.
✨Keep in mind everything is negotiable, but this is standard. Use the link in my bio for a free 10-minute consultation to discuss your deal!
