    ARMOURED WEEK PLANNED
The first Armoured Week to be held in Newcastle will be conducted by “A” Squadron, 15th Northern Rivers Lancers, from November 14 to 20.
During the week, the Battle of Cambrai, in which tanks were used for the first time in World War I., will be commemorated with a parade and remembrance ceremony.
In the parade, on November 19, the turrets of armoured vehicles will be traversed to the right and guns dipped in salute as they pass the Soldiers’ Monument in Hunter-street.
The week’s programme, in which members of Newcastle sub-branch of the Armoured Corps Association will play a leading part, has been designed to stimulate recruiting.
Amphibious tanks will be displayed in Perkin-street and in a vacant lot west of Civic Station. Canadian scout cars, Staghound armoured cars and amphibious “ducks” will move about the city, and there will be shop window displays.
The Cambrai parade, headed by armoured vehicles and Newcastle City Pipe Band, will start from Fort Scratchley at about 10.50 a.m. Unit personnel and association members will march. After a brief service at the monument, at 11 o’clock, the parade will continue along Hunter-street to Perkin-street.

In the afternoon, the amphibious tanks and ducks will “invade” Nobbys beach. The next afternoon, they will give a similar demonstration at Newcastle beach.
Other functions include the squadron’s Cambrai Day dance in the King-street West Drill Hall, on November 18, a Cambrai Day dinner arranged by Maitland sub-branch of the association in conjunction with Maitland’s 12/16th armoured squadron, on November 18, and the annual reunion of the Newcastle sub-branch on November 19.
