Seiko Group Corporation has launched its “Time and Japanese Culture Project” to promote Japanese culture and allow more people to experience it.
As the first step in this project, Seiko presented a special exhibition entitled, Four Seasons, Nature, and Life - The Passage of Time and the Beauty of Nature, a collection of costumes belonging to the highly esteemed onnagata (female role) kabuki actor Tamasaburo Bando V. This special exhibition was held at the Seiko House Ginza Hall in central Ginza from June 8-18, 2023.
In this exhibition, we displayed 10 stunning costumes, each specially selected by Tamasaburo from among his personal collection, and showed a video in which he explained the costumes one by one.
In response to numerous requests from visitors to the exhibition, we have curated this video into five shorter editions - one for each of the 4 seasons and another one called Flowers. We hope you will enjoy them all.
