Taking me down memory lane!!! 🥰 What happened to R&B?? It was my favorite genre during the 80’s/90’s. Current R&B seems more bass heavy and the “soulful” sound is missing. Don’t get me wrong, I’m into H.E.R., Sabrina Claudio, Khelani, etc, but it sounds more slow Hip Hop or something. I can’t quite put my finger on it. But for sure the connection between music and the lyrics is not the same as Queen Anita emotes. Ahhhhh....the good ol days....
Love this lady, and have quite a bit of her music. I am more drawn to the more vintage R&B rather then todays. How about some Marvin Gaye? I have several of his vinyl's (yeah, I'm an oldie). One of my all time favorites that I don't think got enough air play back in the day is "When Did You Stop Loving Me". Would love for you to react to that. Also, not sure if you ever heard of Phillip Bailey from Earth Wind and Fire. He did a song that, again, never got enough air play or recognition - "Walking On a Chinese Wall. I'm reaching way back, and think you may like them.
She's such a fantastic singer. Heck Michael even the really old stuff is awesome. Beethoven and Mozart wrote amazing music so yes all genres of music should be heard and appreciated
