Later, he changed some of the lyrics to make the song about his wife. He then sent it to another guy, who added instrumentation and changed some of the lyrics. Then Anita Baker wanted to record it and she changed some of the lyrics because she was engaged at the time. She also asked that the tempo be sped up. The story behind it just adds depth to the song for me because two of the three writers wrote it about someone in particular, which I think totally comes through in how Anita sang it ❤
