I Got WAY TOO Invested in X-Men: The Last Stand Кино
who was here before the thumbnail change? 😂😂
Funny enough I was JUST about to point it out lmaoooo
Smooth with it 😂
I WAS LIKE OH NO HE SPOILED HIMSELF LOL
Me lol I was wondering why you had Sophie Turner's version of Jean Grey there lol
I was 😂
Fun fact: Wanda/Scarlet Witch originated in the X-Men comics. At one point she was supposedly one of the children Magneto alongside Piedro/Quicksilver.
Also in the comics Wanda has always been known as a mutant and even worked alongside magneto in a team called the "brotherhood of evil mutants" yeah.. I can go on about this all day cuz there's alot that could be mentioned about the character. But anyways I hope this was informative for all that read my nerdy ramblings
The botherhood was Magneto's group in these movies, too.
@mojoriot2293 would have been crazy if Scarlet Witch was in these movies- but with the amount of power she has and the direction they took Jean I guess it would have conflicted things
@@thecraftygamer1674 Not nerdy ramblings, bub, just informative comments. Not a lot of folks read the X-Men comics, some just enjoy the films, that's all. I have many friends hate/won't read comics ( they think they're for kids )but, love super-hero movies. So,they ask me many questions about different characters.
@@thecraftygamer1674 Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, is a Romani sorceress and twin sister of the speedster Quicksilver. Once believed to have been mutant children of Magneto, the twins are in truth orphans enhanced by the High Evolutionary at Mount Wundagore in Transia.
She and Pietro may have been retconned since then, but this is one reason her throne was at Mt. Wundagore in Multiverse of Madness.
The MCU is much different than the comics for obvious reasons.
"Charles Xavier did more for Mutants than You will Ever know" - Magneto
Now that, is the part that gives me goosebumps.
Every single time
They are enemies who were formerly as close as brothers. They still respect each other a lot, even after everything that's happened between them personally.
To me. Rouge's choice made a lot of sense. She's NEVER been able to touch people without hurting them. Imagine that. Every single time you wanted to touch anyone, you couldn't. And if you accidentally did, you may kill them. =/ like that is horrible
Spoilers
Yes but it was temporary and in the future she is either kidnapped for experiments or beeing killed by Charles
Adam, have you ever seen the X men cartoon series from the 90's?
Rogue is older in that and has actually come to some level of acceptance of that fact. I agree that the X-men movie franchise rogue would have taken the cure however, even Iceman, who is a lvl 5 mutant couldn't stop her powers, and that would be scary as hell for a rogue at that age.
Her choice was very true to the character of the time.
I'd opt for a temporary suppressant if such a thing was possible. (Like she could pay Leech to hang out in the next room and play video games or something while she got down with Bobby...)
Yeah sure it does but it just goes against the whole theme of the X-Men
Not to mention her power isn't very useful compared to everyone else
Can we say that the most indestructible thing in this movie was actually Logan's pants because those pants were able to withstand Phoenix's ability to disintegrate everything. At the end of the movie, how were Logan's pants able to stay on when Phoenix was turning everything to ash?
Phoenix just wanted to see his abs.
The only thing stronger than plot armor is censors.
his pants is indestructible, just like Bruce Banner's pants.
Precisely. How is he not naked?
X-pants!

Charles and magneto were never “enemies” they always considered themselves friends with opposing viewpoints, magneto never really wants to harm mutants, but will use certain ones as pawns to cover his ass
frenemies
The parallel that has been drawn is Charles was Martin luthor king and magneto was Malcolm x. Both fighting for the same cause but from different methodology
They are more like a married couple.
Was just about to say the same things. They don't agree on certain things but they're like brothers
Yes, Magneto is all about war against humanity, Charles about using mutant on mutant violence to simp over humans, and other X-Men villains are just the worst
Its never fully explained in the movie, but theres a comic explanation for charles coming back as well. He was born with a twin, but because of his mutation, he absorbed his brother's conscience in the womb. His family is rich, so they kept the brother on life support. Then when charles died, he threw his conscience into that body. Its kinda messed up, but one of my favorite villains comes from that story in the comics.
"Its kinda messed up" This could honestly be the slogan for Marvel comics :D
Thank you for explaining that, I was always confused on that plot point.
Yeah, I believe you’re talking about Cassandra Nova. The parasitic astral being that had latched onto Xavier’s twin. Only to be blasted out by Charles en utero, unfortunately also causing his twin brother to be born without a consciousness. Yet still she clung to life as a mess of cells, down in a sewer, that slowly grew into a female version of Charles; thanks to retaining his early DNA. This also made her a very powerful telepath on top of her original astral abilities. And due to her early interactions with Charles in the womb, while she was trying to understand the physical world, her final mental picture became that of only herself and Charles being the only real thing - and the whole universe was a cosmic dream Charles had gone into after he’d blasted her. So nothing was off limits and everyone was expendable.
Xavier has done some messed up things in multiple universes.
It's possible Fox planned that for a hypothetical 4th movie that never came to be. But that would be giving Fox credit.
For a mutant like Rogue, their powers might well be something they want "cured". Not everybody enjoys being a mutant. Storm was literally worshiped as a goddess when she was younger. Rogue kills everything she touches. Then you have mutants like Penance or Skin. Not every mutant wins the genetic jackpot.
What do skin n pence do
Skin has about six feet of extra skin and looks like a melted candle. Penance had red skin hard as diamonds that was so dense, she had her own microgravity. She could destroy things simply by touching them. @@jaspershattered
@@danielallen3454 damn
Well, it's because of her relationship with Gambit that Rogue would eventually become confident enough to master her powers, enough so to the point that her physical intimacy issues would no longer be a hindrance for her and Remy.
Charles and Eric want the same exact thing. They are equally as passionate about it. They disagree only about the method to achieve it. You'll understand it more if you keep going with the franchise. Both have immense respect for each other. It's an incredibly interesting dynamic that sometimes has them working together, sometimes against each other. But through all of it, they never stop being friends.
Mycroft eh? didn't you go into the falls and die, same as Sherlock?
Another interesting literary dynamic if I may say, and probably a touchstone of the relationship between Charles and Eric in the X-Men.
@@sutekh233 No, that was Moriarty. I'm Sherlock's older and smarter brother. But yes, I also see parallels between Sherlock & Moriarty and Charles & Eric. While Sherlock and Moriarty do not want the same thing, they both have utter and complete respect for each other. And where Charles and Eric want the same thing in different ways, they also have a complete and utter respect for each other. Where it differs is that Charles and Eric are almost brothers. In the end, to fight the Sentinels, the two of them cast aside any differences of opinion and work together. The stakes are just too high. I don't see that ever happening for Sherlock and Moriarty.
@@mycroft16 Ahh, forgive my literary faux par. I think there is still an element in Moriarty that would just as much love to work with Sherlock as he would love to work with him. Now I am thinking more, I think Mycroft would have wanted that as well, but now it's a Data/ Lore situation.
Moriarty
I think they could given a high enough threat, but the threat would have to be to both of them, say "we are going to blow up England"
Both would want to stop that outcome, so it's at least feasible.
juggernaut, they simply will not, or cannot understand eachother.
Both are equally gifted, but they will never see eye to eye.
MLK vs Malcolm X
Funny thing I think Bobby is a level 5 mutant too. His potential is limitless. He could literally freeze the entire planet
He is a level 5. Or as they say in the comics at times an Omega level mutant. Omega level means that mutant could in theory end life on a planet wide level. I believe Jean, Bobby, and Storm were all level 5. Although Storm was as far as I know never confirmed but a sentinel did once identify her as a possible Omega level.
@@raziel6896 Storm too!? I can see that
@@phoebet3999 as far as I know it was never confirmed fully. I haven't read all the X-Men comics however. I do remember reading one where she was fighting a Sentinel and it said possible Omega level mutant found. She was fighting it with her husband I believe who happened to be Black Panther. In theory if she could control the weather on a planet wide level she could easily be Omega level tho.
Edit: Sentinels were programed to be able to identify how strong a mutant was and counter their power. Just for more context.
I don't know why I'm asking this, because I'm just going to Google it as soon as I finish asking, but Iceman and Storm being written as Omega level mutants is a fairly recent (meaning some time in the last 20 years) thing right? Like I think they kind of powered up/evolved the two characters, writing them to learn their maximum potential eventually. I stopped reading comics around the early to mid 90s and I'm pretty sure they were normal level mutants back then and I remember later hearing about Bobby learning how to transmute all the water inside lots of people's bodies to ice at once, thus making him much more powerful.
@@Parallaxus Yeah pretty much I think Ice man froze hell a long time ago in the comics but in the most recent ones he froze space and time but also Quicksilver is also a omega level
The Xavier of Multiverse of Madness is an alternative version from a world where he was one of the world's protectors against Thanos (multi-verse = infinite number of versions of people)
The version we see in MoM was actually inspired by Charles Xavier from the 90's X-men cartoon, just played by the same actor as the X-men movies
None of this is related to the MCU timeline except in a multiversal sense. Not only because the MCU isn't related in any way but also (spoilers)
because of the events of a later X-Men movie.
Technically this path still exists as time travel only creates a branch. So this still happened
When you hear that little lick from the 90s animated theme I get goosebumps every time
@@Turnabout Or, the post-credis scene
I also love how Beast refers to Logan as boy not knowing that the dude is easily over 100 years old.
Well sometimes Logan does act a little immature.
I hope Alex watches the Wolverine Origins movies (I haven't checked yet, maybe he has?)
He's gonna love when Wolverine meets young Beast in Days of Future Past, poking and egging him on to show the blue furrball.
Wolverine: "🤨You're pretty strong for a scrawny kid. 😏C'mon, you sure there's not a little Beast in ya?"
Logan doesn't have his old memories so for all intents and purposes he's only like 30-40 cuz he doesn't retain his older wisdom
I think you misunderstood Callisto when she told Magneto that none of the mutants gathered were above level 3. She was not including Magneto in that.
She was asking why he came to their gathering, where none of them were above 3.
This grade 1-5 scale is different from the comics, but Magneto, Xavier, and Iceman would all be grade 4 mutants on this scale.
THATS HER NAME? I've been trying to find it for ages
pretty sure Iceman is an omega mevel mutant like Jean and Storm in the comics so he would be level 5. movie iceman would be far lower than his comic counterpart tho, level 3 would be appropriate imo
To correct this more, all omega level mutants in the comics that appear in some xman timeline movie are as listed, Magneto, Iceman, Storm, Jean, and Hope summers (Cables daughter in deadpool 2). i could have missed one or two the timelines are very confusing
@@gamingcactus4634in comics only Jean is level 5 😂😂😂😂
Hope wasn’t in any movies nor was ever mentioned by anyone 😂😂😂
Alex, the reason she “died” in the first place was as X explained. She had put in place mental blocks to keep the Phoenix locked up and therefore did not have access to her full powers. When she died the Phoenix was released. It protected her body and took over
*it was X-plained. Missed opportunity 😅
Jean's mental blocks didn't break in her death, but against Magneto in X1. After being hit by that machine's electromagnetic pulse, Jean's powers became unstable.
@@nathansalim that’s not what happened. if that were the case the phoenix, which is specifically stated to be an alter ego of jean, would have been released and taken control and would never have sacrificed itself to save the crew. jean’s powers aren’t unstable. that would imply that it’s her powers she can’t control. it’s the phoenix itself that’s unstable. its her alter ego she can’t control.
@@realblackterry Yes, that's what happens. However, the 'Phoenix' only starts to manifest itself with more intensity as Jean uses her powers more massively. In X2 we have several moments of this. Btw Jean even mentions in X2 that everything was different after the Battle at the Statue of Liberty;
ps: In X1, there's even a close-up on Jean, with her "noticing" something different.
@@nathansalim the phoenix had control of jean from the very beginning of X3 and she died at the end of X2. there is no manifestation period my guy. it happened after she “died”
This movie has one of the most infuriating scenes.
Rogue, the girl who kills anyone she touches, comes in, "They found a cure?!"
Storm, th eGoddess of Weather, ""NNo. There's nothing wrong with us."
Just...
Rogue's power created resentment since every other mutant can still touch others. I get Storm's point, but she wasn't seeing Rogue's point.
Why is that Infuriating? Which part, Rogue's shout of there being a cure, or Storm's "There is nothing wrong with us"? Cause Storm is correct. It's one of the MANY Fatal Flaws they made in this movie. There is no "Cure" To Mutants. They are literally Human's that have been born more Evolved with the "X" Gene. Heck, the "Cure" in this movie, doesn't actually "CURE" You, it just turns off the X Gene "Permanently". So it doesn't even cure you. It would be no different than dyeing your blond hair black, and saying you are now "Cured" of being a Blond. It's like, No, you are still a Blond, you just dyed your hair. They are, genetically, STILL "Mutants" and NOT "Human"
I barley hit play before making a similar comment 😂 the poor girl'll murder anyone she hugs wrong, Storm, not everyone got epic weather goddess powers maybe consider that she doesn't actually like owning 37 pairs of elbow length gloves
@@bloodyneptune ..... You're an idiot.
I guess under your eye, someone missing a limb is just someone not normal and needs to be cured? What about someone with a mental disease, like ADHD? Are they not normal, and require a 'Cure' to be normal?
Storm isn't talking about powers, previlage, defects, or anything like that. She is saying being a MUTANT is not something to be 'Cured'. What if, one day, everyone collectively decided Gingers ACTUALLY do not have Souls, and started killing them in Mass. And a Red Head Ginger came up to you, when Hair Dyes were invented, and called the Hair Dye a 'Cure' to them being a Ginger.
It is LITERALLY the same concept. There is NOTHING Wrong with Rogue. 'She can't touch people', and some people are literally made out of fire, big blue beasts, or have an indestructable metal coating their bones as they age so very slowly that they have and will again out live everyone they know and love.
Does that make Rogue any LESS of a Mutant? To have the mindset that she is born different, a freak, with a 'Disease' that needs to be 'Cured'?
All this does, is show what Rogue really is in these movies. A stupid, self hating, emo child who I am surprised they don't show cutting her arms and trying to kill herself if she REALLY believes she is 'Cursed' and not 'Normal'.
You all make me sick, cause in ANY other context, Rogue is basically looking for an ESCAPE to her problems and not believing herself to be human and normal. And when Storm tries to help her, to tell her she IS normal, and that she shouldn't be self harming, or thinking of herself as subhuman. You find it wrong? Really? Really?!
Yeah, what Storm said right there was very insensitive, all Rogue wants is to not hurt the ones she loves, Storm could never understand the amount of sadness and loneliness Rogue is experiencing.
Iceman was a pretty heavy hitter as long as there was moisture in the air. Otherwise he'd have the same issue that Frozon did in the Incredibles where he "ran out of ice". During battles, Storm was his ammo dealer. : ) She'd make it rain, he'd bring the pain. Also, he later was classified as an Omega-level mutant (what seems to be the equivalent of a class 5 in this movie or maybe one step higher). Limitless potential. Bobby is immortal in his ice form. Storm is also an Omega Level mutant.
He never had to go looking for his super suit...
Is storm immortal
In both movies and comics only Jean is omega level 5😂😂😂😂😂
@Superfoczka1 maybe don't comment on stuff you don't know anything about cause Jean is not the only omega level mutant also a level 5 mutant and an omega level mutant means the same thing
I like that you picked up on the fact that the “cure” storyline and the Phoenix Saga are two completely unrelated storylines; that’s why it seems like they’re doing a lot in this one movie. Very astute.
In my opinion, despite the downgrade of the phoenix story, the writers have done a decent job of integrating the Phoenix into the story about the cure. That is, Phoenix is really the core of the theme of illness (Jean actually suffers from a personality disorder due to her powers), cure and control. That is, the storyline where Xavier decided to deprive her of a potentially dangerous force without fully understanding rhymes with the violent role of the state in the "treatment" of mutants. Especially this parallel reaches its climax in the scene in her parents' house where Eric talks about freedom and Charles about control. For me, this is one of the most cathartic scenes in the history of superhero movies. It's a pity that after this amazing scene they stopped developing Jean.
That is, technically it is not a perfect script, but to be honest, from the point of view of clever writing, in my opinion, this film copes better than all the Marvel films of recent years, which have turned into a mess of hard-to-distinguish references and prerequisites associated with the overloaded expanded mythology of comics, but without a real story (With the exception of Guardians of the Galaxy).
They’re separate in the comics but in Logan it’s shown that the X-Men came first and the comics came after.
The Jean Grey/Phoenix/Dark Phoenix storyline took years and dozens of issues to develop in the comics. Way too hard for a movie, but too cool to pass up.
Yeah and the movies always skip the phoenix park and go straight to dark phoenix. Like I don't understand why do they keep skipping that part
@@CowsRdumbBecause there's only so much time in a movie, and they can't dedicate the whole thing to Jean, the other characters need development too.
@@ag9953 well if they are dedicating it to the dark phoenix they have to do the phoenix it doesn't have to be a lot of time just establish
I like to think in an alternate universe there was a series of about 20ish X-Men movies that set up the various teams. Nathan Summers would be born, The Starjammers introduced, the New Mutants rescue Magik from Limbo, etc. They would all culminate in 2018's "Dark Phoenix: Inferno" That is the level of importance the Phoenix saga deserves.
And yet they tried it again in another movie and that was arguably even worse.
Erik and Charles are like brothers. They both love and wanted to protect their mutant brothers and sisters. They just had different ways to go about it
Like Malcolm X and MLK
Or just like Captain America & Iron Man.
They are more like a married couple. If you want an accurate description of their relationship.
I love how he keeps saying “Jean is like Wanda” yet Jean is literally the blueprint for the very powerful marvel women like Wanda, Captain Marvel, the Binary entity, etc. 😂😂😂😂
When talking about Power-scaling Mutants, it's complicated. Tier 5 may be referring to the Omega level in the comics. In that case there are quite a few Mutants that hit Omega level. Iceman, Magento and Storm all hit that level eventually.
Same with Quicksilver also
@@thomaszimmer371 No, Quicksilver ain't even a mutant let alone an omega lol
@@lucaskhall6794 Well in all fairness there is MANY quicksilvers that are mutants and some that are not and yes there is a alot of them classed as omega level in there comics..

""Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. No one is angrier than a woman who has been rejected in love" This proverb is adapted from a line in the play The Mourning Bride, by William Congreve, an English author of the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries"
I understand Rogue’s choice. She has a power comparable to that of Midas in Greek mythology: very useful in one aspect of life but so troublesome in another aspect. She weighed the benefits and disadvantages of her power and judged that the negative prevailed. But, personally, I would have kept it. Latex exists. 😁
“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” is a pretty suitable remark to describe Mystique’s decision to give up Magneto’s location.
They don't make movies like this anymore... The scene where charles got disintegrated is extremely well filmed and edited. Super emotional aswell.
Yeah
I can't stop watching your videos since I discovered your channel. It's crazy how you can fit a 2 hours movie in a 30-45 minutes video while making it look like there's no part missing to it. And also your reactions are always great.
I can't wait to see you watch Deadpool
he got soo invested, he used the recast of Jean Gray from the First Class series 😂 my man is 3 levels ahead
Magneto and X were best friends. They disagreed on how to move forward with the human/mutant relations, but they didn't stop being friends. The end scene where Magneto is playing chess by himself shows this quite well. He missed being checkmated by Charles.
The notion of offense being the best defense is actually pre-historic. You win by taking the fight to the enemy, hunkering down just delays defeat. Occupy the enemy and you reduce their ability to counter-attack.
Always enjoyed watching the versatility of Magneto and Professor X's friendship: their ability to be allies and friends when they need to be and their respect for each other when they're pursuing their philosophies about how humans and Mutants should be. And the way that that's perfectly translated from Sirs McKellan and Stewart to Fassbender and McAvoy respectfully💯
And honestly, even though genetic mutations like in the X-Men universe are NOT a disease, not everyone had a cool or useful mutation like Logan or Cyclops or Storm. Some mutants genuinely had only physical mutations or the same situation as Rogue, they just wanted to be able to live normal lives without being judged or limited.
It's always surprising how big Hugh got after the first xmen
Yeah makes your wonder if he was taking something or if it was natural.
He didn't get a lot of time to train before the first movie. He wasn't even the first person cast to play Wolverine. Dougray Scott was originally cast, but he had to drop out of the role after he got injured while filming Mission: Impossible 2. So Hugh Jackman replaced him on short notice.

It's really cool to see you experiencing these movies from a blind perspective. As a huge fan of the X-Men comics, I always got caught up in how these movies failed to accurately adapt storylines from the books. You picked up on it here. The Mutant cure and The Phoenix are two very separate arcs from the comics, and presented very differently than they are here.
That being said, I'm very impressed with how many of the *ideas* from the comics were able to be properly translated for viewers who pay attention. To see you become a fan of these characters and this world without any prior knowledge of the source material has given me a new appreciation for these films, especially this one. Good stuff as always Alex.
Warren the Third’s codename is Angel. Honestly, his story arc is my favorite part about this film.
Kitty’s codename is Shadowcat. I know because I grew up watching X-Men: Evolution. She was one of the main characters of that cartoon.
xmen evolution, every sunday morning with justice league
Oh and in some comics Warren is the descendant of angels and Kurt (Nightcrawler ) is the descendent of demons.
This was my favorite from the trilogy as a kid. I can't wait to watch your reaction!
That giant head belonged to a Sentinel, a giant mutant-hunting robot. The simulation was held in The Danger Room. Yeah, and Logan was dismissive of it in the comics, too. He considered it a "flamin' game." I preferred the Dark Phoenix Saga from the comics. In the comics, Scott didn't die. Logan speaks from experience. He's called the Wolverine for a reason. He knows better than Xavier the risk involved in caging dangerous creatures. This is foreshadowing. Great reactions.
This version of Jean is probably my favourite. It could have been better explained but I like that the Phoenix force is manifested more as a dual personality than the flashy cosmic force from the comics.
She didn’t even abb the Phoenix until the last movie, everything she did in this movie is because of her raw power 😂😂😂😂😂
I’M SO EXCITED FOR THIS SERIES . also Logan is my favorite because I grew up watching him and his dad vibes are just so comforting to me 🥰
Heck yeah, it’s also how I got people to remember my name when I was younger
The thumbnail has Sophie Turner in it 😂😂
The ironic thing is that the humans want to suppress all the mutants because they are exponentially more powerful than a base human and the Charles Xavier does the exact same thing to Jean/Phoenix because she’s so much more powerful than the rest of them. Right or wrong there is a startling parallel there.
Not quite. A lot of people get this bit wrong. Charles was never concerned about her strength, the level of her powers and abilities, or what she could do. He was concerned because, unlike most mutants, her powers are mostly seated in the _subconscious_ part of her mind, with only a tiny part spilling over into her conscious self. She _literally_ couldn't control her powers, the phoenix is a manifestation of the subconscious, all emotion and instinct, with no higher function.
It wasn't her powers which concerned him, it was the lack of control over them. He _rightly_ took precautions against an individual who could literally crack the planet apart like an egg if she had, say, a heartbreak. She wouldn't even have to make a conscious choice. The slightest hint of "I want to end it all" flickers through her unconscious mind, and the planet boils, or every human gets atomised. An unrestrained Jean getting upset or angry isn't a concern, it's an extinction event. It's not a danger one can allow to exist.
Yes chess parks exist. ;)
"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" is a famous quote (slight misquote) from a 1697 play called The Mourning Bride.
People may talk shit, but this was my favorite out of the three. There’s so much nostalgia watching this one!
Same... I don't get the hate for this one... best xmen movie besides Logan
fr i agree
i love this one too
Banging soundtrack too. The music that’s playing when Logan is walking up to phoenix Jean at the end always sends chills down my spine.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and allowed to like whatever they want. X3 is my least favorite out of all of them, including the prequels. The main reasons are mostly the handling of Phoenix and Juggernaut.
This is one of my fav X-Men movies. Also love Jean Grey and Wanda both a lot.
If you haven't seen "Kick Ass" and "Kick Ass 2" ... put them on your list. They're superhero movies.
Phoenix in the comics is a cosmic entity that’s like a symbiotic. Jean became its favorite host in essence and she’s had a love hate thing with it but ultimately right now she’s done with it. Echo who was in Hawkeye is the current comics host if I recall correctly
I wanna see the final Harry Potter reaction already!!!
You'll understand Charles and Eric's relationship more when u watch X-men first class
You will learn a lot more about Charles and Magneto in later movies. Charles in multiverse of madness is a different timeline.
there is aa later movie called "dark phoenix" that explains Jeans powers while this movie is more about the "cure" and how it devides mutants, I think they added the part of "the phoenix" to add some more action and both romantic and scary tension to the movie.
0:16 Definitely Wolverine! He's my 2nd Favourite Marvel Comics' Hero after Thor since he's Badass, he's a Great Mentor that's why alot of young X-men members have been his sidekicks in the comics, His backstory makes you emotionally invested in his character & His one-liners are always Cool 😭
I see the Charles/Magneto relationship as one built on respect at ita core, Charles respects Eric for what he endured in his past and while it may not always be the best solution its how he copes, and for Magneto he respects Charles for always being accepting of mutants and helping them understand and control their powers
In the comics, Jean was a class 5 mutant BEFORE she was possessed by a cosmic level entity called the Phoenix Force. It was a very complex story that took place over years, and while this was a good movie, it just didn't do that epic storyline justice, which is what disappointed a lot of the fans. The X-Men animated series did a pretty good adaptation of it, but it would have taken at least three movies to do it right. All in all, I'm glad you enjoyed it. the X-Men were always my favorite comics growing up, and Logan is still my favorite character to this day. Such a complex, tragic story, and a complete badass. Keep up the good work
Technically, the Phoenix is a cosmic Nexus entity that chooses who it inhabits. Drawing the parallel to Wanda is easy because the Scarlett Witch is much the same. Phoenix,Scarlett Witch,Adam Warlock, the Beonder,
Dormamu, Madem Web, the Omni presence. Are all upper echelon Omega tier power level characters. Along with several others but so many variants, so little time. Oddly enough, Venom makes that list, too. After he kills the God of symbiotes, Knull. He Sole bonds to Eddie, gains the omni presence's power, and eats an entire reality.
I am confused as all hell with Alex in this movie, he is all about be yourself, but when Rogue choose a path for herself that she clearly stated was what she wanted..he mocks her..uh what.
The Charles Xavier in "Multiverse of Madness" was from a different dimension where he didn't get disintegrated and shared the dimension with the Inhumans and Fantastic Four..
One difference with the comic books is that Juggernaut isn't a mutant in most realities in the comics. His power is of mystical origin, so he probably wouldn't have been affected by the power·neutralising boy's presence.
Ice Man has always been my favorite X-men since the comics.
I’m glad they got this character right in this series.
Ice Man needs to be utilized more.
Love your reactions! Love the X-Men movies! Can't wait for you to get to Deadpool and Logan!
I'm anxiously awaiting his reaction to Logan but it won't hit home until he makes through the rest
I was waiting for you to drop this. My favorite X-Men movie, since seeing it for the first time on Antenna TV.
If you’re intrigued by Erik and Charles friendship, you’re going to love First Class.
McAvoy and Fassbender do an amazing job.
Not sure if others picked up on the symbolism Bryan Singer was going for, but when considering that a Phoenix is a bird wreathed in flames, it explains why it destroys things by reducing them to ash.
At the mutant meeting, she mentions that no one in that place is ABOVE a level three, except Magneto and Pyro, suggesting that they are actually level 4 mutants. Also, I love your reactions. 🙂
Haha. Wanda's design actually reminded me of this iteration of Jean. Lol almost felt like an homage in some small way.
Honestly my favorite. So beautiful and terrifying. I loved the Sophie Turner version for the funsies and the comic accuracy, but this one is just scarier.
Mcu wanda is a copy of jean Grey especially (famke Janssen) version, meanwhile wanda vision is a copy of xmen apocalypse, dark Phoenix (Sophie Turner) version
I always chuckle when hank calls Logan boy. When you watch wolverine origin you’ll understand Alex
Yup our poor boy is in for one hell of a mind fuck.🤣
some of the deleted scenes from this movie are actually amazing. While in the final cut Jean levitates and rips apart the gun threatening Magneto with the cure needles, in the original scenes she rips a part a metal cup and reassemble it as a pulsing "star" that emitts radiations, actually harming all the mutants in the wood. In my opinion this would have been a better way to showcase her new powers as moving things with her mind is just simple telekinesis, which is something she already had before becoming Phoenix.
As someone who’s become more of an X-Men fan over the years (watching more of the animated stuff, reading about them, etc) - I really wish we coulda got a Storm and Cyclops who behaved a little closer to their source material. They’re both wicked powerful and contenders to take Charles’ place as “leader”, yet they’re hella incompetent in these movies (especially Scott).
That being said; these movies will always hold such a special place in my heart, being the first superhero’s and all. I remember no one liked this movie in particular (Last Stand) when it came out, but a ton of people are reacting to it rn! Famke (Jean) goes off in this one; you can’t keep your eyes off her whenever she’s on screen and that in and of itself makes this one fun for me.
For me it’s something like
1.) X2
2.) Days of Future Past
3.) First Class
4.) X-Men (2000)
5.) Apocalypse
6.) The Last Stand
7.) Dark Phoenix
(Those are the ones I consider “mainline” X-Men movies)
Thumbnail is wrong right? Isn’t that Jean from the newer movies? Lol
Yup… that’s definitely her
It has to be Dazzler, she is AWESOME!!! Her backstory and powers are pretty AMAZING, and her feats are equally so!!!
Important Note: Charles Xavier in Multiverse of Madness is a VARIANT of this Xavier in a different world, he’s just played by the same actor because we know him
In the comics Jean wasn't born with the powers of the Phoenix. She was born a mutant with powers but the Phoenix was a cosmic entity that possessed her as an adult. Also this movie is the first time you see the 5 original X-men on screen; Cyclops, Jean( Marvel Girl), Iceman(Bobby), Beast(Hank McCoy) and Angel(Warren Worthington AKA bird boy). And lastly the following X-Men movies are kind of soft reboots.
It's been so fun "rewatching" the original X-Men trilogy with you, Alex! I love these movies and it was a great way to reconnect with the characters and storylines. I can't wait to see your reactions to the prequel films, which I honestly think are phenomenal in their own right. The casting for this entire saga is fantastic though. Happy Marvel Monday!
Seeing Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut was really good i wish they did more with his character, Great reaction as always 😁
4:20 The Danger Room is so cool lol. I hope we get to see more of their training sessions in the MCU.
In case no one mentioned it, there is an alternate scene with Rogue at the end, where she is still wearing gloves when she take Bobby’s hand. Obviously there she did not take the cure.
Thank you for continuing the X-Men's franchise reaction Man! Your reaction of this movie made my day! When I saw this movie for the first time, I was blown away! I didn't really pay much attention to the plot, the most important thing was the action scenes haha.
The director of this movie is Brett Ragner, He replaced Bryan Singer, The director of the previous X-Men movies, cause Bryan Singer Directed Superman Returns at that period (2006), Bryan Singer was also brought James Marsden (who plays Cyclops) along with him in Superman Returns movie. That's why, Cyclops role in this movie is just so tiny.
I can't wait for you to continue reacting to another X-men movies Man! And be ready, that after this movie, there will be some error continuity that you will find haha!
The Dad didn't want his son to cut his wings off. He was, however, so anti-mutant that the son was so afraid of what his Dad would say if he found out he was a mutant that he tried to hide it by cutting his wings off
39:45 Aww, you cut out my favorite scene: 🎵"It's raining men, hallelujah!" 🎶
40:35 The cure fully removes powers, it's just not permanent. It fades with time.
41:00 So, I don't think they explain this in the movies, but that's Charles' brain-dead twin. In the womb, Charles' powers basically absorbed his twin's mind, so he's been on life-support since birth. So just before Charles died, he projected his consciousness into the twin.
Moira mactarget was in that scene, and bolivar Trask was a black dude
23:03 To his credit, Magneto did not want Professor X dead, he was his friend. He tried to stop Jean.
Over time, the nostalgia of these films and what they help jumpstart gets better and better 😅
Honestly cant wait for the X-Men: Apocalypse reaction! but overall amazing reactions as always man!
In the comics, Juggernaut is Charles step-brother and isn't a mutant. He gets his powers from a gem.
The Phoenix force isnt actually Jean or an alternate personality. Its a cosmic entity that uses different people as hosts. It favors Jean and her family but has taken over many others. When the Phoenix Force overpowers its host, you get the Dark Phoenix.
The movies also changed the classification of the mutants. Magneto is an Omega level mutant... very very strong. He can change the Earths magnetism. Iceman and Storm (along with Jean Grey) are also omega level.
Angel seems like a really cool character. I'm kinda surprised that he always seems to be pushed into a supporting role tbh (i.e. in this film, X-Men: Apocalypse, X-Men: Evolution, Wolverine & the X-Men, etc), despite being one of the first 5 X-Men in the comics - I hope we get to see more of his character in the MCU.
It would also be cool to see a close bond between him & Storm, like in Wolverine & the X-Men - I feel like it could create a lot of fun scenes since they can both fly lol.
How many fucking comments are you gonna type out?
Iirc, the director changed at some point, and the new guy (Brett Ratner) just smushed together two separate plots, which were exactly what you suggested: one was the cure story, the other was the Phoenix Saga. The Phoenix Saga, btw, is an iconic story from way back in the comics, and this was a poorly done adaptation.
They’ve all been crappy adaptions so far, hopefully the MCU will get it right.
Brett Ratner was hired when Brian Singer dropped out to do Superman Returns.
An alternate scene with Jean and Magneto is even cooler. He hands her a coffee cup...Bitch starts to SPLIT THE ATOMS INSIDE OF IT and is about to release a fucking NUKE from a coffee cup hahahahaha
despite the issues with this story. I really enjoy this version of Jean. The way Famke switch between Jean and Pheonix is full of emotions, angry, hate, sadness, lost, with fear. The other version.... not so much.
Magneto and Charles may have different views of the same thing, yet, they respect each other. Magneto can understand that Charles did contribute for Mutant cause. And he doesnt allow anyone to disrespect him. So in the end, they do considered themselves as friends.
I could not be happier that you're getting so interested in the X-Men! I think you're really going to enjoy them more and more as you continue to watch the film versions.
Magneto is an Omega Level Mutant (Class 5). He theoretically has absolutely no limits, so much of the universe works through magnetism, he could shred apart the universe if he devoted his life to it. Jean could do the same, just in a different way. I'm very sad that we will never see a true cross-over between X-Men and Avengers since the rights were split. Rogue ends up being a gigachad, she permanently absorbs Captain Marvel's power, so she has her power plus her own, making her one of the (potentially) strongest beings in the universe since she can steal the powers of anyone else, on top of Captain Marvel's entire power list.
Both in movies and comics only Jean is omega level 5 and Even without the Phoenix she has around 40 powers and abilities and , she is the only mutant level 5 in Marvel in existence with limitless potential, she still easily got into the head of the primordial God of darkness without him even knowing that she was in his head and Symbiots who was also a Elder God and found out how to defeat him and in the same time she was breaking the connection between Symbiots hive mind and Venom son, she bypassed the telepathic shielding of juggernaut to teach him empathy and Magneto helmets,Magneto helmet are made from special material that blocks telepathy even the Professor X who was almost one of the most powerful telepaths that in Marvel Universe couldn’t get into the head of Magneto with his helmet , she beat Nightmare who was a psychotic demon in his realm the same guy who trapped the Eternity,, she knocked out Gladiator and Galactus, Jean easily lifted mountains that weight millions of pounds, she lifted a structure that was as tall as the world trade centre, she broke out of the Volcano, she survived explosion of the Phoenix and she absorbed it, the Phoenix is capable of destroying any creating universes and destroys and kills everything it. comes to contact with, she survived a blast that could destroy multiverse, she as the Phoenix has the power to create and destroy life, ,stars, Suns, planets, galaxies, universes, realities, black holes, she can eat stars, Suns planets for breakfast all the time killing billions of people, thePhoenix destroyed a planet and had 5 billions people living there, she can fly around the universes in seconds, she doesn’t need teleportation or telekinesis from move to one place to another like Wanda, has self resurrection, she has a psychic syphoning that drains psychic energy that drains the psychic energy that drained the energy from Galactus, her illusions are so powerful that it took 3 days to find a flaw in her mind escape , she send her and Wolverine subconscious through time, she absorbed an optic blasts from Cyclops who that could destroy universes, she went toe to toe with the Celestial, she is a doctor and master tactical, she beat many many of ninjas, she can activate and deactivate mutants power, she can absorb black holes, she can create cosmic weather including black holes, , the Phoenix fire can burn souls, she can turn invisible, she is psychic of the highest order, she has inter dimensional telepathy something that Professor X said that wasn’t possible ,her force fields are powerful enough that they protected her from the flames of the Phoenix, held back the core of the Celestial and the Binary form of CM, she has tactile weapons that improved a lot since her training with Psylocke who was a master of tactical weapons, she sent her telekinetic abilities through time streams, she can surrender herself with telekinetic aura that protects her from danger, she survived a high speed collision with Gladiator which in normally resulted in her death, she has a psychic being psychologically, she has a cosmic level telekinetic blasts powerful enough to affect cosmic beings like Galactus, she can create a firebirds by unison of her telekinesis and telepathy , she broke through the telepathic barriers on her own mind that Professor X had put on when she was a little girl, she knocked out hulk before, she got into the head of the celestial, she ripped the God like mutant Apocalypse and his armour and then she absorbed him, she telepathically tortured Emma Frost who had a diamond from that protected her from telepathic attacks and Emma was one-off the most powerful telepaths too,, she can manifest a telepathic Phoenix raptor that was powerful enough that it could hurt Silver Surfer and Galactus, she had put the Emma diamond from back together, she took the Binary the Binary powers grew uncontrollably and she began to destabilise white hole so Jean not to use her telekinesis to fly through space across dangerous cosmic enemies but also to create a shield that separated Binary from the stars she was draining the energy of the stars and meanwhile she was keeping the Binary synapsis intact in the process, she was using her telekinesis to make an army puke and shit themselves, she revote the Universe in the future, she overpowered a psychic who was erasing her memory, she shielded the New York City billions of citizens from a psychic attack that would kill then all, she was able to lunch stations so hard and fast that they flew into the orbit, she shielded herself and Xman, Avengers, Eternals from the psychic pressure of Celestial that would kill them all and she separated the core of that Celestial and then she got into his mind, the core of Celestial was as hot as sun, she overpowered Nightmare then she send him through portals and she was able to awake the souls his victims of the entity Nightmare using them against him while being in astral plane, she stomped on Nightmare, she created a hive mind that allowed her others teammates confers with each other, she beat Galactus, she beat phoenix, she can manipulate reality by through materialisation of her dreams into real world, she freed wolverine from Professor X when she was dead, she cased Knull pain while she was communicating with Venom son without him even knowing that she was in his mind, while she was in limbo she beat her clone who had the same powers including magic and she beat her when she was in limbo where she was the most powerful, she telepathically broke the mind spell of amnesia placed on Wong, she helped Nate to telekinetically repair a rift in reality, she merged her telepathy with Polaris magnetism to create MRI machine that allows into the read memories of dead minds, she subconsciously created a phenomenon all over the globe to talk to Xman teams while being kept captive by Phoenix, she overpowered Nightmare sending him through portals and she awoke the souls of the entity Nightmare victims and used his own victims when she was in psychic plane, she created a hive mind that allowed her teammates communicate between themselves all around Earth, she created a city, she telepathically downloaded the information from a being that had cosmic awareness that spans across of universes and who knows where everything is in order to pinpoint the external gate to Mars without rapturing Earth, she installed features of swords in someone’s mind that allowed them using reality wrapping, she propelled a spaceship into orbit for Magneto to catch it, she can marge minds that amplifies her abilities, her psychic abilities could go through on open rift between time and space and connect with the other side most likely reality, while she was acting as Wolverine mental anchor she relished a psychic blast a mile wide that erases the memories of people who were aware of what wolverine actions in timelines that he left, her telekinesis is potent enough to travel through hyperspace and she survived the energy of white hole that was tearing a rift through a fabric of space, even her psychic totally could blow up the enchanted version of the Celestial, she can match Namor speed underwater, she can shield herself from withstand an island sized explosion, she shielded her teammates from a space craft crash, she blocked attacks from Magneto, the young Jean reached out and change the space molecules to create atmosphere and air pressure for her teammates, she has a form that allows her to combine her telekinesis and telepathy allowing her to absorb psychic energy from everything allowing her unknown levels straight and durability helping her to beat characters whose sheer power allows them to crack Moon and rip apart black holes, she stomped Galactus and 4 different Silver Surfers at once , she can resurrect herself without any help from Phoenix, she knocked out Hulk, she was trained by the wolverine and Mystique, she beat the army of ninjas, she is a doctor and master of tactics 😂😂😂😂
@@Superfoczka1 Let me put this in my notes to read later bc period
The way I STILL get chills when Magneto slightly moves the chess piece at the end.
First time I saw this film, I could understand why Rogue would want the "Cure". I mean, imagine going your entire life knowing you could never touch anyone skin-to-skin. Hell, even intimacy would require a full-body covering then.
Just to throw this out there. By "above class 3" mutants. In the comics Jean, Xavier and Magneto are all classified as "Omega" level mutants. I don't fully remember the rating system, but I believe Omega mutants are capable of ending the world by themselves should they choose too. In the comics Magneto can potentially reverse the magnetism of the poles and fuck with earths rotation.
Love this movie soo much. Thank you for reacting to this saga
I LOVE the extended/alternative version of this scene 21:23 with the mental battle
In the comics Juggernaut is sometimes Charles' halfbrother through their mother and his helmet gives him sheilding from charles powers like magnetos. He has some magic artifact that gives him his crazy strength and near invulnerability.
Rouge is my favorite xmen! The ability to steal someone else’s ability for a short time is just so dope! Ifs. A shame what they did to her in the movies, shes so much better in the comics and in the animated series!
Can't she steal powers permanently by killing with her power?
@@daddynotafool That is precisely what she did to Captain Marvel.
@@lordmortarius538 She didn't kill Captain Marvel, she only put her in a coma.
Your videos always brighten my day.
From rogues perspective, she feels she does, because she can never go through life being able to physically touch anyone else without causing them great harm or death. So, for her, and anyone who has a similar ability that they are unable to control, they would feel they need that.
Ha! Glad you changed Dark Phoenix on your thumbnail…..first thing I noticed. So glad you’re enjoying these MCU light movies! It’s all we had at the time 😏
Much like spider man, X-Men was always a marvel property. Other studios had the rights to the characters . Disney is now rounding them up so they can use them. The Multiverse is allowing these previous films to become part of the Disney MCU. This is also happening with some other series like Cloak and Dagger.
yep
Alex commenting on cheesy one liners in the movie: "That was a stupid thing to say"
Also Alex: *Literally every single comment that comes out of his mouth during every movie ever*
LMAO as a comic collector in the 80's and 90's its hilarious listening to his comments...(knowing the comic story line)
Love the reactions! 🎯💯
I only just realised that Magneto stared straight at the camera when he was cured
It’s so refreshing to watch someone’s positive reaction to a movie hated by so many people. I personally think it’s just a mid movie but I think it doesn’t deserve all the negativity it got when it was first released.
I find that any reactor not familiar with X-Men comics tends to like this movie. It was usually actual X-Men fans that found issues with this. Killing off the characters, the botched rush job of the Dark Phoenix story. They tried to cram so much into this as, at the time, an X-Men 4 wasn't promised. Then Origins Wolverine bombs (which was supposed to start its own line of spin-off films), so they go the soft reboot route with First Class. We tend to forget that this movie was a rough time for Fox and the X-Men franchise during this period.
