My mother would have loved this movie. She played in the minor league Norwalk Connecticut Treadly Rosebuds ball team before she married my WW2 veteran father and female ball teams went out of business. and being somebody like Geena Davis in the film was the sort of life she always dreamed about. She died in 1972 at the age of 34. Seeing this film always makes me think of her. Madonna is absolutely my favorite female singer but as an actress her role here as All the Way May is the only film role that was really worthy of her.
This is one of her best songs from when she was still in her prime. I love the message of the song. Somewhere along the way she let the fame go to her head and got full of herself and I completely lost interest in her.
