I think Alley Viper V2 was the last OG GI Joe figure I bought and he's always had a special place in my collection.👍😎
Great review. That weapon on the backpack looks more a grappling hook launcher rather than a crossbow to me.
Would have been nice to make grappling hook gun seperate and attachable to the pack.
I remember tying some thread to the hook and using the backpack as ascension device. There's actually rope molded onto the backpack.
@@fosscruz2638 it is an ascension pack, that is a grapple gun, why do i feel like i am the only one who knew this since 87'?
Works so well with the version 1 review. Nice job.
One of the few bright Cobra vipers that looked cool.
Another absolute favourite of mine. Loved the colours largely because it made for a good Scorpion stand-in when I wanted to play with Mortal Kombat toys that did not yet exist.
In the version one, the faceplate is supposed to come down and leave a tiny slit at the top, for him to see through. I know that doesn't really reflect well in the figure, but if I recall the card art for the figure right, this was depicted.
I know I’m late to the party & all, enjoyed the history, but there are some critiques that may help you.
1. Please confer with veteran friends. Alley Viper is an Urban Assault Trooper/Soldier. The shield can be used for riots, but it is a ballistic shield that can be used when making entry in close quarters.
2. Antique is a wine terminology that has been hijacked by collectors. However, that being said, antique is used for items that are over 40 yrs old, not 31-27 yrs old.
I hope this helps you & your channel. 🤙🏼
Huh. Almost sounds like Hoodie likes a 90s figure...
This was one of my all time favourite figures
Hands down one of the best Cobras of all time ...The awesome Alley Viper II
I love the storm shadow tattoo.
I've the blue, white and gray from 2000s. My favorite Cobra Trooper of all times. Thanks for the review and keep them coming.
I think that one is from the 15th Anniversary line in 1997. I like him too. pretty badass imo.
@@williamthompson5504 that was thr one with the Rage tank I beleive. There were also two versions in the 2000s in a two-pack with Big Ben. One was blue with urban camo, the other was red with urban camo. They were sweet.
They manage to pull off the yellow very well. I still wish they had used that classic Cobra Blue instead, or red might have been cool, to tie them in with the Crimson Guard.
I'll say, this is a great review video of the Cobra Alley Viper Version 2/3 + Varient altogether. I never knew there was a version three with version 1 colors. This is awesome to know and Knowing is Half the Battle. Yo Joe.
I saw it over in 94. I was interested but had no cash. Memories.
I like the modern version of Alley Viper , they were crimson red with the riot shield. The vintage Alley Vipers , all versions are great army builders, if you dont mind the bright colors.
I believe that they also appeared in the GI Joe Arcade game. You had to knock their shields off!
10:25 If you took the bow off the end of the crossbow this backpack could probably double as some kinda GI Joe version of the Ghostbuster Proton packs.
I’ll be honest. I’ve always loved Alley Viper V2.
I remember, it has claws like wolverin. Included in the weapons pack
Man, you'll never know the feeling seeing this guy on the pegs for the first time. I loved it.
same. one of my faves as a kido
Great review, I love this figure, I have 2 of this v2 figure, they look great with the v6 black cobra commander, I hope we see more good 90s figures, but I know we have to review some of the bad ones from the 90s, bring out the whiskey it helps to get through the pain we must endure.
Was I the only kid who would insert the shrouded barrel of the Alley Viper's alternative SMG through the hole in the shield and combine them? Give it a try!
Love that figure, the v2 version is awesome, the facemask rules
If you get around to picking up the Alley Viper version 4, 5, 6, and 9 because they are more practical for urban combat and it uses the Version 2/3 mold
I think the gun molded to the backpack is a grapple gun not a crossbow I have the modern version and it's removable it's Pursuit of Cobra one the colors are different a dark burgundy black and gray camouflage and black
mandalorejangofett yes it is! There is a cable reel on the backpack near the handle of the grapple gun.
i had both versions when I was a kid. but I think the red one looked way cooler than the black and yellow one. I played that figure more than any other figure i owned.
One of the few figures I liked from the 90’s the yellow and black not the orange
El Guapo referrence was nice☺. Thanks for the review!
The back of The Battle Corps card says "new recruits" and every Joe pictured is an old character.
I loved the fang mask. Alley vipers have always held a special place in my cobra heart
I always assumed the "loud colors" of the Alley Viper were intended to "draw fire" in urban assault situations. i.e. to be an Alley Viper is a death sentence given to Cobra footsoldiers by Cobra Command....or something, lol
Will you be reviewing the
Hasbro 2020 6inch
Toy line?
Snake eyes looks amazing!
I’m not ashamed to say that I loved version 1. These later versions look like space aliens to me. Thanks for the review!
Really like the yellow and black alley viper, had that figure back in the day. Had no idea they made the orange 94 version.... Yikes
I am from Indonesia, but I had no freakin' idea that some GIJoe figures were made in Indonesia.
I'm actually doing a super simple custom of the yellow one out of a marvel legends aim shock trooper for the classified line.
As a kid I did a repaint, I replaced the yellow with “Crimson Guard red” made them my Cobra Commander bodyguards . The shield and helmet just look awesome with that repaint.
Version 3 reminds me of the Secret Wars Hobgoblin figure.
Great figure...be cool if they reissued these figures with new color scheme like with the Snow Serpent operation flamming moth edition...
Version 1 is still my Favorite
I don't think that thing on his backpack is a crossbow, I think it's a grapnel gun.
This is some of the best stuff on RUclips! Keep up the good work man! 👍🏾
I always loved the v2 design but I rit dyed a v1 and it looked awesome.
Banana yellow, mango orange and baby blue are not colors good for urban combat but makes the enemy Vipers easier to target!
I agree that the sculpt of this version is great, I can go with the Yellow and black one, but I'd rather he was in Cobra blue with orange or yellow camo patterns. That third version, no. Loved the intro, great stuff, you and Byron!!
What’s up my new friend at tri city flea market in Bristol tenn. hope you have fun with your snow cat and your trailer to go behind it
The absolute best joe of the 82-94 years.
Does anybody know if they are ever gonna bring gijoe back,I seen the 6inch but I'm just not sold on that
I never thought I would be able to say this, I like this figure.
The mention of New York might reference the film Casablanca. Rick Blaine warns the nazis not to invade certain parts of NY.
Cool review. We found both versions of Alley Viper, v1 and v2. My son called them his street ninjas.
Thanks for a great review after a dull and harsh workday and this is now on my list to get!
Would it be possible to do the vintage Nunchuk? I'd love to see you do a review.
Loved the V.1 figure, but the V.2 is better.
V.3? We don't talk about that here.
I love this deco for ally viper. Looks savage. I also like the Sears release in gray with blue armor. It was vicious. Also seen a red and blue one of. I love all the versions of this figure
There are times you sound like you like the figs. I think this is your most object review ever.
Ah Three Amigos reference lol
Great video as always HCC keep them coming please
Sneek peeks death was reconnected in the IDW relaunch but he died officially there later.
That intro skit was certainly something.
Hey! I love those Transformers issues!
Keep up the good work.
I know they aren't Cobra colors, but I liked this version quite a bit as a kid (but didn't get one until I re-started collecting).
Byron? How about Shelly or Poe? 😀
Version 3 of alley viper reminds me so much of version 1.
Yikes, what a set of lungs!! 😁🤣😂😅😆😜
That dr. Mindbender was my favorite version until some of the newer stuff came out.
Hillarious intro! The V3 of the figure is almost as eye-pain inducing as V1.... On a side note, are you planning on getting any of the announced from Toyfare 6 inch GI Joes? Nice video, keep them going!
Are these versions smaller from Alleys ver 1?
the shield is amazing
Cobra
The mini-comics aren't cannon to the marvel series the jungle fury one kinda confirms that as in that comics Major bludd is working for cobra but in the comics Major Bludd isn't working for cobra anymore.
My friends and I always discussed and agreed year to year that sound effects and firing weapon gimmicks were really gimping and bastardizing the imagination play of children. IMO 2 had the better paint but 1 had the far better design. What I always questioned going into the 90's most was what the mental issues the person in charge of the color palettes was, if they even had attended any basic art classes. It felt like they had zero clue how to aesthetically paint models, it was just brighter is better or garish muted pastels are the best and that this is what kids want which really lowered the bar like A LOT! It would be as if Hasbro had contests for painting figures, yet nothing degree level artists turned in would be chosen, just elementary school level ADHD dreck.
I don't get it. Why did they think that these weird colours would be more believable and even sellable than a more realistic urban camouflage, like grey with black digital?
Some folks have argued that they were trying to make the figures more easily seen in grass , and there might be something to that. Also, there have been weird color figures which did well even as early as 1983 (if you count Gung Ho, which...yeah, I know you can squint and call it a marine color, but...eh). They went harder into it in 1986, though, and those figures still did alright, paving the way for stuff like the Techno-Viper.
UA? They must be Cobra's drug task force, charged with collecting Urine Analysis drug screens.
@@far-out_man Lol.
the Cobra Antifa
a two-fer love it!
LOL "Full of hate. They must be Star Wars fans" :D
That was good one.
V2 does really look better than V1 but V3 not so much.
Do you have Rampart? The long range recon patrol
There could have been better helmets on Version 2 and 3 !!!
Articulation is always my favorite part
Angry Cobra hornets. 😉
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
