    Absolutely loved watching the flight, and the joy that the owner did not dump all that expensive gear into the ground first time out. Excellent!

      Daniel Tyler you can get airborne for 50 bucks my man, I`m poor as all hell AND I live in norway.. This has still been my hobby for 20? years, so I suggest you educate yourself before speaking about something you now NOTHING about.. No offence, but ANYONE can get into RC these days, just not jets.. :)

    • @TheBoone57
      @TheBoone57 10 лет назад

      +jan christian Frodahi I stand corrected,perhaps hate is a factor in the 611 now 612 thumbs down. I started with Firebirds one and two then went on to Mini Max and Crazy Max and then heavier planes that required club fees and insurance. If you are so poor maybe it is YOU that needs the education.

      Daniel Tyler You're doing a bad job at trolling and an even worse job if you're trying to be serious...
      Sure "611 people can't and never will afford to fly RC planes."....But there's also MILLIONS that can't even feed themselves or their families. "If you are so poor maybe it is YOU that needs the education."...Huh? Trolling? Serious? So are you saying you own a $10,000 RC plane? Where is it? Oh, you don't own one? Then "you are so poor maybe it is YOU that needs the education." herp derp

      I always think that when I see these perfectly made RC planes. When they're in the air you really can't tell the difference at all from the real thing. I'd have to think that's appealing to filmmakers, especially since good CGI is so expensive.

      Hardtop Harry He would have to implement retractable landing gear for it to be more realistic + some lights. Also, only a third of the pylons are visible, but other than that it looks pretty good.

    I've never flown one of these... How do people fly them so accurately when they're far away? Is there a camera mounted somewhere?

    • @reconx86
      @reconx86 10 лет назад +8

      Not sure if there are civilian models with cameras, but most if not all of these hobbyists fly without camera.
      I'm a bit more puzzled by how it manages to stay up in the air, the F-16 was developed to be aerodynamically unstable. I heard it requires constant input from a on-board computer to correct the instability, especially the F-117.
      Perhaps they change the wing-surface to make it more stable for RC flight, but however they do it. it's still puzzling.

    • @TSWookie77

      Boulder AMR On the radio control is there an orientation bar so pilots know when they're upside down or not when outside eye shot? I've seen some vids on youtube where the guys are taking their planes so far out they look like tiny dots. Lol, the RC world is so foreign to me.

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto 10 лет назад +3

      LifeRocket7
      Nope it is all line of sight. They look like dots, but you get used to knowing how the dot moves, so you can tell if you are right side up or what orientation yup are in.
      If it isn't line of sight, it is "FPV" with goggles or a screen of some type, with a camera on aircraft transmitting back a picture to pilot.

    • @dobrodave123
      @dobrodave123 10 лет назад +5

      First time landing, I'm sure there's a pretty steep learning curve on how much ground effect the unit will produce.

    • @77Avadon77
      @77Avadon77 10 лет назад +6

      What? XD It's an F-16 not a Pilatus. It's going to land like a missle, not float. He basically drove the thing right into the ground. If you're new to landing a jet aircraft you should land long or make some go arounds. Better to balloon then smack the deck with any aircraft. At least if you balloon you can power up and go around and there is that kind of power in RC. Once you nail the deck hard it's over.

    • @Randallpw
      @Randallpw 9 лет назад

      77Avadon77 The problem in these though is the turbine lag. It would have taken the turbines a good 2 seconds to spool back up. I get what your saying, but I get the feeling that wasn't his first attempt at landing this. It's a beautiful craft, but it seemed unwieldy.

      Pretty sure there are restrictions on the size/weight that RC planes can be before you would need a pilots license to fly them.

    batteries for your controller $8. a new camera to film the video with $400. a 1/4 scale model of a f16. about 1/4 the cost of a full sized one.

    • @DamnlagTV
      @DamnlagTV 10 лет назад +1

      Ya, I think the FAA has it to where drones need to get permission before flying now. I'd assume this would only be the same with the FAA.

    • @conorbryan4718
      @conorbryan4718 10 лет назад +1

      DamnlagTV they have only regulated airspace for drones within a 5 mile radius of airfields and 10 from military bases

    • @flyboy3d
      @flyboy3d 10 лет назад +3

      DamnlagTV The FAA wanted to impose laws on RC planes/helicoptes but the NTSB came back and said the laws were unenforceable. Drone is the technical term for an unmanned "surveillance" and/or combat vehicle. Only when a camera is mounted to a RC plane does it technically become a "drone" and even then the term used to describe that is FPV

      When people say helicopters are more expensive to crash I bet that pilot who flew this must be saying in his head please please don't go haywire on me I would be scared to fly a 100k jet turbines helicopters take skill planes take even more money to get into the air

    • @freeamericausa1
      @freeamericausa1 10 лет назад

      Why would they be illegal in the USA. You should talk to the thousands of RC model builders who FLY every weekend across the USA. Convince them YOU THINK they are illegal. :)

      On a MAIDEN FLIGHT, as the description says it is, you may not elect to check out the LG, or other non flight essential items. You really only want to make sure the plane flies and you can control it. Most of the time on a maiden flight is trimming it for perfect control. He needed more work on landings. That landing was way too fast rate of descent on the approach. By now he probably has it down pat.

    I imagine your nerves got the better of you. It's a beautiful jet and I'm sure lots of time and money invested. Good work on the engineering and paint job. I'm sure by now you realized you needed a lower rate of descent probably meaning more speed on the approach. By now you probably have it down solid.

    • @dealspeed6756
      @dealspeed6756 8 лет назад +10

      Yea it was, but I can say that whenever you do a maiden flight on a bird you put a lot of time and money in to, your nerves are on edge the whole time, come landing time your nervousness hits a peak.
      I've only crashed one bird on the maiden flight landing, and that was only because the factory CG point was way off and it flew horrible.

      Randomnick123 Oh please. if you can land a plane, you can land a plane. It was a crap landing, whether it was his first flight on the plane or not. He should have come in with more speed and a slower rate of descent with such a big runway & the ability to use brakes.
