I don't understand how anybody can give this a thumbs down. This guy is enjoying his hobby and doing it well! I wish I can do something like this, looks like 611 people are just haters
Daniel Tyler you can get airborne for 50 bucks my man, I`m poor as all hell AND I live in norway.. This has still been my hobby for 20? years, so I suggest you educate yourself before speaking about something you now NOTHING about.. No offence, but ANYONE can get into RC these days, just not jets.. :)
+jan christian Frodahi I stand corrected, perhaps hate is a factor in the 611 now 612 thumbs down. I started with Firebirds one and two then went on to Mini Max and Crazy Max and then heavier planes that required club fees and insurance. If you are so poor maybe it is YOU that needs the education.
Daniel Tyler You're doing a bad job at trolling and an even worse job if you're trying to be serious... Sure "611 people can't and never will afford to fly RC planes."....But there's also MILLIONS that can't even feed themselves or their families. "If you are so poor maybe it is YOU that needs the education."...Huh? Trolling? Serious? So are you saying you own a $10,000 RC plane? Where is it? Oh, you don't own one? Then "you are so poor maybe it is YOU that needs the education." herp derp

Hey, you could probably rent this plane to film makers, movie producers etc. might be a way to recoup some of the mega bucks that must have gone into this machine.
I always think that when I see these perfectly made RC planes. When they're in the air you really can't tell the difference at all from the real thing. I'd have to think that's appealing to filmmakers, especially since good CGI is so expensive.
Hardtop Harry He would have to implement retractable landing gear for it to be more realistic + some lights. Also, only a third of the pylons are visible, but other than that it looks pretty good.
Not sure if there are civilian models with cameras, but most if not all of these hobbyists fly without camera. I'm a bit more puzzled by how it manages to stay up in the air, the F-16 was developed to be aerodynamically unstable. I heard it requires constant input from a on-board computer to correct the instability, especially the F-117. Perhaps they change the wing-surface to make it more stable for RC flight, but however they do it. it's still puzzling.
Boulder AMR On the radio control is there an orientation bar so pilots know when they're upside down or not when outside eye shot? I've seen some vids on youtube where the guys are taking their planes so far out they look like tiny dots. Lol, the RC world is so foreign to me.
LifeRocket7 Nope it is all line of sight. They look like dots, but you get used to knowing how the dot moves, so you can tell if you are right side up or what orientation yup are in. If it isn't line of sight, it is "FPV" with goggles or a screen of some type, with a camera on aircraft transmitting back a picture to pilot.
I am curious as to the engine used in this. How many lbs of thrust can it produce, and what would it's rate of fuel consumption be? Overall, I am highly impressed. The skill at making something such as this, and have it fly so flawlessly, is astonishing.
Its actually 4 engines ganged together. Each engine produces about 35lbs of thrust, and each will consume about 3 liters of Kerosene in about 8min at full throttle.
Yeah. What the hell was that about? Like right at the moment of liftoff? Totally suspicious. Like hiding or protecting something. Also it looked like it was about to go off the runway just then. I thought they were gonna have a do-over or something.
You would think they would just get another video of it taking off. It means the plane crashed or something shortly after and they didn't want you to see it. a new video will come out once they build another one ;)

Would that plane have the power to carry a small payload? Something like a, oh I don't know, maybe a cat strapped to the top?
i've seen Rc planes pull up a sail plane.

a few hand grenades to have your own bomber drone is way better than carrying a cat, that's just animal cruelty :(

Why did the pilot fly with the landing gear down? Must have been a bit leary of flying all out.
Does the landing gear actually retract on these RC planes? Non the less these things are awesome.
Maybe because it was test flight, don't know.
Landing gear is usually left down on maiden flights

Someone needs to teach the pilot about the whole leveling off, bleeding airspeed, and flaring the aircraft, part of landing.
First time landing, I'm sure there's a pretty steep learning curve on how much ground effect the unit will produce.
What? XD It's an F-16 not a Pilatus. It's going to land like a missle, not float. He basically drove the thing right into the ground. Pretty sure there are restrictions on the size/weight that RC planes can be before you would need a pilots license to fly them.

Ya, I think the FAA has it to where drones need to get permission before flying now. I'd assume this would only be the same with the FAA.
DamnlagTV they have only regulated airspace for drones within a 5 mile radius of airfields and 10 from military bases
DamnlagTV The FAA wanted to impose laws on RC planes/helicoptes but the NTSB came back and said the laws were unenforceable.
