Even I was nervous about this one! So, the question is... If you are handed the radio and asked to perform the setup and first flight... what would YOU do?!
Well Chuck Yeager said “If you can walk away from a landing, it’s a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it’s an outstanding landing.” In that case walking away you can’t do it but the second one it looks like you’ll definitely be able to use it again...for the nose gear well at least it was already down, better than having it stuck retracted ! 😉😂 Nice vid thx for sharing just music not as loud maybe for next time.😃

Martin Pickering Well, the combination of painted/unpainted look is just amazing. That was such a brilliant decision. Most go for the most clever paint scheme they can come up with and don’t consider leaving portions alone. But the combination here can NOT be topped in my opinion ! I loved the look of old Beech 18’s, DC-3’s and of course P-51’s and F-104’s with this look. But you don’t see fighters like this often. I wanted them to strip a Baron I flew years ago, but the owners didn’t share my enthusiasm, lol! Again, thank you for sharing this !
Probably because they want to keep within RC/drone regulations and not cross the line into homebuilt aircraft territory, since you need to get FAA certification of airworthiness.
@@superskullmaster standing on the ground watching something fly is not unique. We've been doing it since caveman times watching birds. Unique would be being virtually present inside the cockpit while flying the aircraft, something only a fraction of a percent of mankind has experienced.
I'm extremely impressed with that scale model F-16 and flight demonstration. Excellent flying. Just needs those "ventral tail fins" that a commenter pointed out, I suppose. Really cool! I didn't know that hobbyists made and flew such flying crafts.
Great jet. Cool video. Thanks for letting us participate at the extraordinary moment. It would be nice if some more data were mentioned about the model. _Best regards, Horst_ 😉👍
Hey Horst! Thanks! Unfortunately don't actually have much more info on the model... It was a one off, build about 15 years ago, since heavily updated to modern tech... See you at Weston!!
What a beautiful model. It looks and flies really well! The only things I may nitpick on (and I've worked on the real thing for 10 years) if you want to strive for ultimate realism: -The outer portion of the wing trailing edges are fixed in real life (i.e no ailerons - just flaperons). -The flaperons do not assist in pitch control. -The flaperon flaps mode is triggered by landing-gear down operation. -The leading edge flaps (LEF) are also triggered by LDG-down and Angle of Attack (i get that putting AoA sensors on an RC jet is crazy). Of course, I understand that being an RC jet, it is probably unlikely to build the thing unstable (in terms of center of lift vs center of gravity) like the real deal, which probably accounts for the "semi-realistic" flight controls. However, it is technically possible to achieve. The F-16 Flight Control System is from the late 60's, and what used to take quadruple redundancy computers and lots of space in terms of circuitry can probably fit and run on an arduino uno today. Yeah yeah "You try to do better", I get it :) It's not ment to bash the product, just shed light on possible improvements :) One of my all-time favorite RC models is the Rusjet yak-130. Check it out if you haven't already!
It was Martin Pickering ... one and only.It is not easy to operate with this jet, because at lower speeds there is instability, but there's is Martin who explained everything ... thank so much dear professor.
Great first flight !! I would be a little nervous myself but you looked like you had flown it a 100 times before ! Also love the green jet you have - that is a beautiful plane . Great job !
Absolutely great build job on this plane and great job flying it and better yet, LANDING it. Most builders of planes of this level of perfection spend all there time building and relatively very little time flying, and it shows up on the landings where a lot of pilot skill is required. This guy nails the landings, probably because he doesn't spend most of his time building.
Martin, Looks very good, yes, on some of the larger Jets they do lack inertia, however this one looks very scale. Very nice flying site, with weather to match.
Great video! I can imagine the sensitivity of the controls is extreme, and this guys skills are amazing. When I was a kid, I got a model airplane, a P 51 I believe it was, that was controlled by a hand held device with two strings connected to the plane for elevation and descent. It had a little gas engine, and on my first flight I didn't even make one complete circle before I nose dived it into the ground at full speed. That was the end of my model airplane carreer.
Ouch... You needed some people around you to help with that first flight, with a little guidance it is not too hard, just like driving. Maybe time to give it a second go?!

@@MartinPickering-PickeringRC, if I had to guess (and not being able to physically examine up close) I've seen similar phenomena on several full-sized aircraft I worked on as an FAA aircraft mechanic, the air pressure forcing the strut aft is too much to overcome the lock/unlock mechanism of your strut.
