the answer to the puzzle at the end is Qh5 for anyone wondering. The reason is that the king will be forced to move to d8 and when it does, you can play ba5 pinning the queen to the king and winning it, and the queen cannot capture because the queen on h5 will take black queen that just took the bishop. if black tries to play g6 to misplace the queen so that it wouldn't protect a5, you can simply play bxg6 forcing the king to move anyway, then play ba5 again and win the queen
Another great video thanks Vlad. There's also this variation (much more rarer) White to open: Nf3, d5, e4, dxe4, Ng5, Qd5, d3, exd3, Bxd3, Qxg2 (falling for the trap) Be4 (1-0)
Puzzle solution: Qh5+, If opponent plays Kd8 you play Ba5 (protected by the Queen) and you win opponents queen. If they block the check with the pawn, you take if with your light squared bishop, forcing Kd8 where you play Ba5 again and win opponents queen.
I’ve been watching so many chess video lately from other RUclipsrs to improve my game, and I’m very glad that I found yours. I don’t need to watch or search for anything else. There’s lot more to grasp from your lessons. Thanks for making these helpful videos.
In trap 1 I rarely see h6, most opponents seem to develop their knight, which usually prevents the attack. I love these strats but so rarely do they line up.
Hi.I am a fan of your videos and I am a 800 rated Blitz player. On the first trap, here I must say that most players do not fall for it as the play 5.Nc6 in all of the games I playedc (and played a lot of them). 1.Nf3 d5 2.e4 dxe4 3.Ng5 Nf6 4.d3 dxe3 5.Bxd3 Nc6!! protecting the Queen and developing a piece
0:25 White knight 2:30Black king 4:36 Black (white queen) 5:50 white queen 8:43 white king (black cicilian) 10:16 white knight (black queen) 11:46 black queen (white Queen) 13:37 black king (white queen) 15:51 black Knight (white queen)
That’s so slick I hope I get a chance to pull that move off I know I have to watch a couple of your videos several times to absorb all the tips you give got to get that Queen 🤩
Trap3 doesn't give you massive advantage with so many pieces being sacrificed. I mean getting the Queen itself gives you only +2. If they don't take the knight, you end up giving them +1. The way you present it, it's a winner. However, in my opinion, you shouldn't get too excited about it, even if it works
Clearly, 1. Qh5+ ... and 2. Ba5 (pinning Black's Q against the K/d8) wins. If Black tries 1 ... g6, then Bg6+! (but NOT Qg6? - losing control of a5) completes the trap.
Thanks Igor, this one is quite repeatable. The new word for crushing (for me) is disgusting, trap #1 is thoroughly disgusting and a keeper. I'm loving this channel, looking forward to taking your opening and middle game courses soon.
If you are still wondering, there's a line where after Bf5, Nc3, Nf6, Qe2, Qd4,Qb5+(also attacking the bishop and the pawn at b7), Bd7,Qxb7, here you are about to win a rook, if the opponent go Bc6, you can go Qc8#. Now if after Qb5+, the opponent blocks with Qd7, Qxb7 still threatens to win a rook but after Qc6, you can't mate on c8 anymore because it is covered by the bishop, instead you can go Bb5, pinning the queen and the king.
I did save this video to check it out again it’s worthwhile I love those bishops moves forcing king out to be able to get the Queen of course you make it seem easy but it’s fun watching if only I’m able to pull it off in a game
In trap #2, the Italian game. I’ve played the black opening moves(...Qg5) then it was Bf7+ and completely fouled up the rest of the game. Is there a queen trap continuation that I’m not finding if Bishop takes f7 over the knight?
11:25 and if he blocks your queen exit with bishop what do we do? we take bishop and get eaten by a knight? so we just traded queens (im not trying to be smart, i got into chess few days ago and im trying to learn)
Do a video with Chess Titans Level 4. I want to see what you do when it decides not to cooperate & all these fancy tactics begin to fall apart! How do you still win without playing hope chess, just hoping to win?
And what if 4... Bg4 ? 5. Qd2 Pxd3 then resume the main line 6. Bxd3 Pe6 7. Nf7 Kxf7 resume 8. Bg6+? Pxg6 9. QxQ Bb4+ threatening black queen unless sacrifice with 10. Qd2. And black has developed three minor pieces (both bishops, one kingside knight) to our queen only. What's the counter to 4....Bg4?
Qh5 check, if g6 then Bxg6 check, Kd8 is forced, Ba5 pinning the Queen to the trapped King taking the queen on the next move. if they play Kd8 immediately than you skip ahead to Ba5 pinning the queen. either way Bxb6 winning the Queen for a Bishop.
2:32 last game I did first few steps exactly as your opponnent here and guy who played against me seemed like he watched this video. Luckily for me I watched it too and evaded check mate by moving one pawn and creating space for king to move away from check. He blundered and lost queen and i won
On trap 7 at 13:15, when the pawn is promoted to a knight, wouldn't most players notice the attack on the king and queen with the bishop and simply return the king to its home square? It would then be hard to save the new knight.
Maybe, but the next move can win a rook cuz when you check with your queen the opponent should protect the king with the pawn (you get the rook), if the king move forward (you get the queen), if the king move to the front of the queen ( you can protect the knight or likely made more chance to winning the game)
promoting the pawn to a queen would make more sense. It's more brutish but leaves your opponent with no counterplay (2 queens vs 1 or no queen vs 1 queen)
I have a friend that I play who always wants to play black and usually opens with his pawn to e6 or d6 sometimes b6 then brings out the queen almost immediately and starts attacking me. Can you post a video on how to play agianst that.
In trap 7, around the 13:06 mark, why can’t I throw in a check with white bishop first and save my pawn for later? Wouldn’t I win the queen regardless? Or was this move to win one extra knight?
Flaw spotted 13:10 After moving the pawn out of whites way and promoting to a knight, the white king can now retreat back to its original square instead of taking it with rook, completely mooting the attack and freeing his queen. As opposed to promoting to queen where he cannot do this since he cant afford to leave the new queen uncaptured
5:34 I actually discovered this trap by accident one day when I was playing chess, I pre moved the knight and that actually happend, I sat there a minute then I found the bishop sacrifice and did this trap.
These traps work in small percentage of real world games, unless you know what the opponent's going to do next. Would love to have more diversified variations.
puzzle= move queen to h5 to give check then the king moves to d8 then move black square bishop to A5 then the queen is traped now the game is end then you can win by capturing the queen
thanks so much for this video, i tried it once on a 1100 to see how it would work, and i won the queen an entirely different way! he resigned after 13 moves

Y'know with the first trick there, the Tension gambit, believe it or not, of all the times I tried it, I've never had anyone defend the pawn with the knight f6. My opponents always first move the h pawn first (h6) or they simply don't accept the gambit at all. I think I'm going to quit doing the Tension gambit, since nobody I've been playing is moving there knight. I guess I will do the other 9 openings.

Certainly not everyone will fall for the trap. On that level, being a pawn down with some piece activity isn't too bad anyway.
Always love these gambit videos. Also watched a ton of your Scotch Gambit/Bishops opening videos!
The puzzle answer is Qh5+.After Kd8, you play Ba5 to pinning the queen to the king and we achieved our goal, winning a queen.
It can simply be avoided by pushing the pawn and attacking the queen

Some fun strategies here! Question about the Tennison Gambit: at 0:55 what if instead of 3 ...Nf6, black plays Bf5?

At 19:36 what’s wrong with castles for black?
