Featuring Al's Mom (unofficial of course). Just a cute animation of Al's memory of her in one of his past shows. It's been half a year since I uploaded the preview video, ended up putting this project on the back burner for months. I didn't want the work I did to go to waste, So I dusted it off today, put together what I had and here it is. Sorry for the wait! Thank you for watching.
I don't get why some people complain about Alastor being a mamma's boy. Like, I think it's sweet. It's surprising he even still has a place in his heart for anyone, you know, after being a serial killer and all. I even envy Alastor for being able to love his mother at all, and that she loves him back (probably not after the whole killing thing, but who knows). If I had a good mother, one that cared for me, I'd love her like Alastor loves his. Sometimes yes, being a mamma's boy isn't good, but in this case, it is.
My cousin when she was little once asked her mother “Do you always love me.” My aunt responded that of course she did, then my cousin asked “but what if, maybe killed somebody, would you still love me?” Then my aunt said “I would still love you but I wouldn’t love what you did” (Yes I know I make it sound like my cousin killed someone 😂) I was either not born or a baby when she asked this but I know enough to make a pretty safe assumption that this was just a little kid wondering how conditionless her mother’s conditionless love really is.
I mean it actually would further explain why he has a soft side for the ladies as that prequel comic showed when he defended a female sinner from being killed by a butcher. Possibly he loved his mother, and his father killed her and he in turn killed HIM. Before starting his own life.
Also pretty impressive Al is singing this song in the past as it didn't come out until after his death. Supernatural foresight? Ah don't mind me, I loved it anyway.
I actually love how Alastor is a mamas boy It gives some humanity to him other then he’s pretty much a serial killer gentleman (he respects women and does not prey on the weak) He clearly does not have a heart for anyone else (other then maybe his friend Rosie but we have not seen the two interact yet other then a claimed singing duet) This is a really sweet idea of him remembering/reminding himself of when he was alive and happy with his mother The animation is so smooth and the transition are amazing The end is honestly bittersweet with his mother kissing him on the cheek and him carrying her in the air to her turning into a table cloth and even though he’s still smiling we can see he’s sad/upset and clearly misses his mother This is so well made and really wholesome I love how you draw Alastor too!
I love the idea him phasing between himself when he was alive and him in the present. Like he's reliving memories ^^ Also when he's swinging his mom around and she ends up turning into a blanket. ;w;
wait what if the reason Alastor was so interested in redemption is because his mom is in heaven and a small hopeful part of him still believes that if he can make the hotel work he can see his mom again?
OMG WHY DOESNT THIS HAVE MORE ATTENTION!?!?! It's so damn good!!!!!! And the song fits Alastor so well~! I always loved hearing the song whenever I played Fallout, lol. But I hope Vivziepop hears about this! She would love it!
Criminally underrated and doesn't get the attention it needs! your portrayal of Al's Mother and put into an animation like this is compelling, plus the movements, the expressions, it pairs up just as beautifully well with the music. Kudos!!
I honestly think people forget that even if they are sinners they were still humans, Alastor might be the one more messed up in the bunch but it doesn't mean he's unable to love or care for people (even if that person is just his mother or if he does grow to care for the people in the hotel as well as his mother), he's more morally questionable and dangerous but it's unknown what he feels or think (unless they mentioned this in the show, I still didn't watch it as I don't have Amazon Prime) but either way it reminds you he's not a hellborn but a human, as in, he had a life, he had feelings and thoughts other than the passion for killing.
Alastor: I don't want to set the world on fire, I just want to start a flame in your heart.🌹 Man really is a sadist. Wants us to suffer from heartburn?!!!
I just started singing along immediately. Alastor's voice is enchanting, and I can't help but relax... Plus, this was so wholesome and bittersweet, what- My heart was NOT ready for that-

Beautiful and heartbreaking. Very well done, evokes a lot of emotions. You can clearly feel his sadness that he and his mother could not be reunited, even in death. Whether that makes him regret his actions that got him damned to hell, who knows?

I didn't read the full description at first, and was wondering who Alastor could possibly be feeling something for. Knowing that was his mom in this animation makes perfect sense. Alastor is many things, and one of them is sweet on his mother.
I can see this happening.....The juxtaposition of past and present, even if it was just a wishful dream in life, its beautiful. A quite moment for Alastor to reminisce, far from the eyes of his co-workers, but perhaps not beyond their hearing. Sound travels in hotel vents after all. I can see candid shots of the other characters hearing, and taking a moment to pause and listen, even as some may wonder where the song is coming from.

From his own perspective, i could see him being a mamas boy. Theyve stepped back from the voodoo lore for him, but his mother was a practitioner of actual voodoo, and he learned it from her and warped it to suit his own evil purposes. I feel like even though theyve stepped back from the voodoo elements and made him more of a dark mage vibe, itd make sense to keep that relationship with his mother, where he twisted even her to suit his own ideas and intentions.

Having an actual soft spot despite his powers and killer tendencies is what makes him more of a perfectly relatable character.
