It's 2022 and I'm here. I must've watched this video a 100 times straight just now. It's absolutely mind blowing. Jesus fucking Christ, I wanna live in this video. Thank you BLOF (which I've never heard before but I already love) and obviously Adam who is a god sent from music heaven to save Earth from all sorts of shit. Thank you.
Briljante samenkomst.
I often return to this cover. The final refrain with Adam singing "there is a light" quite beautifully, against the crowd singing the full refrain, with the lighthouse circling in the background - damn near religious enlightenment level of music.
I'm American and don't speak Dutch, but I like this band. Great musicians and I like the singers voice. And Adam Duritz, does a fine job. Would love to see Counting Crows cover this song on vinyl.
13 years since I left nederlands... But hey this music keeps my smile... I wish Id never left... And counting crows... WOW.. Why arent they the best band ever in life ? Every song touches your life at some point... Lyrical genius... ♥
That is totally ok. the Dutch parts are pretty much a direct translation of the English parts. I know it has been 4 years since you posted this. But since nobody replied I thought I'd tell you anyway. I'm glad you like it :)
Great performance of Adam Duritz in particular! Sure, you cannot copy the original, but you can recreate the picture and that is what he did together with the other great musicians. Hat off folks!
It is such a different experience to listen to the singing voice of Paskal Jakobsen, a Dutch singer, compared to the many actors speaking in the Dutch films that I love. I love this gentleman's voice. It also works so well with Adam Duritz's beautiful voice. The musical artists accompanying these singers are equally as wonderful. 🌸🎶
Mooi samenspel.
I’ve loved this song ever since I played it incessantly while studying for the Bar exam back in 1987 and I love this version. I love the German parts even though my 9th grade German is not quite up to the task.
Well, in summer half of the province of Zeeland is German, so I understand this confusion. But as said, this song is in Dutch. So it's got nothing to do with your 9th grade German. 🤣
Well arranged, and magnificently sung by both vocalists. Adam's chorus in particular (1:08-1:40) rivals the Smiths' studio original in my estimation. Until I found this, I hated every cover version of this song I ever heard - and every live version (Morrisey or otherwise). Thanks BLØF & Counting Crows.
I still think this one isn’t too great, I don’t like the fact that it’s partially in Dutch, it’s weird to hear it in my own language.. I’ll always prefer the smiths performing it themselves
True, but some of them may not be especially familiar with the song, and those who do know and love it are experiencing the novelty of different artists singing it - and partly in Dutch. So, incredible as it may seem, I think what we're witnessing here is people actually paying attention to a (very competent) live musical performance. Amazing, I know. And they do respond reasonably enough when the BLØF guy invites them to sing the line towards the end. I find it quite reassuring that you can still find concerts to go to where you don't have to leap about moshing dementedly to prove you're enjoying yourself!
@Moira Bokstijn I appreciate that but just think English is the universal language ,,we should just stick with that ...very confusing all these other languages...just my view.
@Moira Bokstijn English is without a doubt the actual universal language. It is the world's second largest native language, the official language in 70 countries, and English-speaking countries are responsible for about 40% of world's total .English can be at least understood almost everywhere among scholars and educated people, as it is the world media language, and the language of cinema, TV, pop music and the computer world. All over the planet people know many English words, their pronunciation and meaning.

Have you yet heard them sing Holiday in Spain together? It is hypnotizing! I think the same concert..................
I’m the same. I always come back to this video. What an amazing collaboration.

It' so Nice, to see Adam Duritz singing this Amazing Song... ❤
Take me out tonight, cause I wanna see people and I want to see light - and in a pandemic, Adam you remind me of the miracle of art.
I'm American and don't speak Dutch, but I like this band. Great musicians and I like the singers voice. And Adam Duritz, does a fine job. Would love to see Counting Crows cover this song on vinyl.
What is the vinyl you mention?
This is some of Adam's best live singing in the entire history of the band!
Hearing Adam sing this reminds me why i waa obsessed with Counting Crows in middle school
13 years since I left nederlands... But hey this music keeps my smile... I wish Id never left... And counting crows... WOW.. Why arent they the best band ever in life ? Every song touches your life at some point... Lyrical genius... ♥
This is not their song
I really really love this. Excuse my ignorance, I can't understand anything except for the English and yet I really enjoy the non-English parts.
That is totally ok. the Dutch parts are pretty much a direct translation of the English parts. I know it has been 4 years since you posted this. But since nobody replied I thought I'd tell you anyway. I'm glad you like it :)
@@tkitsz Thanks for the reply brother/sister.
Yes, there is something about it.
HOW DID I MISS THIS.
Adam Duritz singing the Smiths. That's about as good as it gets
Fuckin’ A.
Amen. My second favorite band covering my favorite band.
And the Bløf guy coming along and singing him into the ground. This is amazing.
How is one of my favourite bands (counting crows) covering one of my other favourite bands! I’m in love
Great performance of Adam Duritz in particular! Sure, you cannot copy the original, but you can recreate the picture and that is what he did together with the other great musicians. Hat off folks!
What incredible scenery for a concert!
My Favorite Song ever... thanks .. great 👍❤
It is more than wonderful how well this song translates after all these years

This is so good! My new favorite Dutch band! (:
One of my all time favourites in yet another cover version- and how very well done! Thanx✌🏼
Incredible..
Two amazing voices in perfect harmony. Has Adam ever sounded better? Love the brilliant drums driving this forward.
Great cover and great drummer!
Mooi samenspel.
Amazing tune...amazing cover...amazing place & view
this is so cool! i wish i'd been there
Fantastic performance 10/10
Spectacular, brilliant!!
blof blijft een geweldige band geniaal gedaan!
There is a light that never goes out
This is superb. Perhaps they'll release it on a live album or compilation someday. Here's hoping it's safe to travel by Concert at Sea '22.

Absolutely beautiful 🌹 well done everyone ♥️♥️
Great remake for the Smits .Brilliant ❤️🌸
thank you.... the smiths where the group of my youth.... this song and cover is superb.... god bless

Awesome
chills
Simons ik zie t elke keer 👍👌👍
Outstanding
Such a good cover! One of the only covers of this song on YT, which I think is good; so many other shit covers of this song. Nice one!
Great track!
Amazing. Pity this is not available on Apple Music.
im fiipino but ths version givs me goosebumps
Well done
Not bad at all. The drummer is the one who’s really driving the feel - good delivery from all. Nice

A Song for someone, that i didn't find...
I don't know what Butterbean is saying but it sounds wonderful
Not a massive fan of covers of The Smiths’ songs as I usually think they are rubbish, but this is great
I still think this one isn’t too great, I don’t like the fact that it’s partially in Dutch, it’s weird to hear it in my own language.. I’ll always prefer the smiths performing it themselves
madelief honnef yeah re-watching it, it isn’t great. It’s good but not great
Jason Corr i know !! I mean no one can play like marr and no one dances like morrissey,, so covers are always mehh
love, this almost makes me like Morrissey
So this may be a weird question for you people, but what language is he's singing? Would that be German?
Represent... Dub Nation!
Niet best vertaald maar wel goed vertolkt
Love Adams voice so much!! Just not when he does that "talk"singing like he tends to do live
Wilhelm Dietz triest!!😉
Du kenns alles zingen du bis ummer tse jik 👍🍻 ja jullie verstaan het wel
Vernederlandsen brrr
Goed gebracht zuiver
Anyone got a tab for this version?
raestad I have one, I can share it if you want
Rust zacht Andy Rourke😢mooie cover!!!!

The Smiths. But these guys did it better!
The crowd look so lost as to what they're listening to lmfao you've got like 1 guy bobbing his head a little that's it
True, but some of them may not be especially familiar with the song, and those who do know and love it are experiencing the novelty of different artists singing it - and partly in Dutch.

Pity they do not perform in total English as the majority of the audience is English literate ..but still very good no less.
@Moira Bokstijn I appreciate that but just think English is the universal language ,,we should just stick with that ...very confusing all these other languages...just my view.

sound better than the smiths
In everything. Can't match the Smiths version.
Wtf! TSBT
This cover is so cringy to hear in dutch... 🙄
german production is on point
*Dutch
doomer nation
