You would think these are the highlights but honestly the whole show is packed with these jokes and the context makes them even better.

I’m dead. That line killed my sides.
Context: A few scenes earlier, Amanojaku said “Whoever did this is either a bitch or a ghost.” That’s why the word “and” is stressed so much.
I love how the dub team basically transformed this generic ass anime into *South Park: THE ANIME*
You know the funny part is I refused to watch South Park, but I watch ghost stories. What kind of fucked up logic is that?

The comedy of this dub is only audio, that makes it better.

This reaction was phenomenal. If you react to the whole dubbed anime (it's only 20 episodes) then you would truly be a god. I love the way this came about, they poured a whole bunch of money into this in Japan, thinking it would be a huge success, but then it didn't do so well. So eventually when it was brought over to America and dubbed they were just told "do whatever you can to make it sell well" and the only rules were that they had to keep the character names, ghost names, and the basic story intact. Other than that they were given free reign to do whatever they wanted, and a legend was born.

This is the hardest I've seen Gor laugh. Turned purple in the face when Satsuki trash talked the bus driver. He looked like he was gonna pass out lol.
Ghost Stories is unironically one of my favorite animes. A relic from the good old days when you could make an offensive joke without having your life ruined. This dub is hilarious.
This feels like it was dubbed by Team FourStar
I think even Four Stars wouldn't make as many dark jokes.

They gave them the show and they made an ABRIDGED SERIES from it.

The original dub that's faithful flopped in the US so this was for the most part ablibed by the voice actors who ever got in to record basically got to set the tone for that episode. Also, this was made in good fun basically tried to pull off what South Park does and offend everyone with the humor.
The show failed so hard in Japan the English dub has full control of the dub show as long as the keep the plot the same
As well as the names of the main cast and the ghosts.
The original English dub failed. The series actually did really well in Japan
