  • The Boss Up is the bigger brother of the S Boss. This utility midlength is the most well-rounded and versatile shape in the Slater Designs range, crafted to cruise across weak wave faces and grind through cavernous overhead tubes. The Boss Up is the board you would travel with if you could only bring one board with you. Your one board quiver with maximum performance in a purely versatile package.

    Looks like the Chilli Midstrength that’s been around for ages. Goes well in all surf

      Performance midlengths are on the up! It's cool to see the different ways each brand are approaching it. Agree with you on how versatile they can be too.

    Comparison to el baron and m23 please. Thanks

      The El Baron, Boss Up, and M23 are all prime examples of modern high-performance midlengths! They’d work in similar conditions to each other, but each will offer a different feel. The big difference with the Boss Up is that it’s an EPS Epoxy blank, making it lighter and providing a more rapid flex pattern that the PU / PE construction of the M23 / El Baron. Both the El Baron and Boss up are 5fins, and go great as quads! The M23 is a dedicated thruster and perhaps carries slightly more foam in the rail than the others, so it’s a touch more forgiving in smaller weaker surf, but will still hold /control in bigger surf too. The El Baron has the most rocker and is really refined in the rail / pulled in in the tail - I would say that this will be the most high performance of the three, plus provide tonnes of hold / control in steeper, more powerful surf too. Each of these boards would be a great shout if you’re looking for a performance mid to surf in anything from 2ft - 8ft, it would just depend the preferences of the surfer - how you surf and what you like from a board.

    Did you prefer this or dhd interceptor? Thanks

    • @downthelinesurfshop
      @downthelinesurfshop  2 месяца назад +1

      Different boards for a different surfer I think! The Boss Up is an epoxy construction and will have that much-loved spring and flex, and offer performance levels similar to that of the El Baron. The Interceptor from DHD is a bit more user-friendly, and built in PU.

    Did you notice much difference between the 6 "10 and 7 "2 as far as performance. I'm 6 "5 and 87kg n thinking of going for a 6"8 as a shortboard and a 7 "0 for a midlength. Maybe just go 6"10 in between. Thanks

      A touch more snap in the 6'10, but we were really impressed with the 7'2. It was surprisingly nimble and could really be thrown around.

      We went for mediums! With the quad setup, this had plenty of drive and lift. If we were using it as thruster, then Justin would have used Large.

    Thanks for the review just wondering about the ibolic construction dent easy or a solid build thanks

    • @downthelinesurfshop
      @downthelinesurfshop  2 месяца назад +2

      Ibolic is solid! All performance boards will develop small compression marks from feet over time, but the Ibolic is one of the best ones out there for durability.
