Girl, Tchaikovsky himself thought he failed this ballet when in reality it still is one of the most beautiful pieces to exist. Trust me, you didn't fail, who cares you took the 17 fouttes out? The thing is, you didn't give up, you came up with something that was both beautiful and that worked for yourself. We are all proud of you!!!
This reminds me of when Misty Copeland said: "People come to see ballet for the escape. For the experience of being moved through our movement and artistry, not to score us on the technicality of what we do. This is why ballet is not a sport. A ballerina's career is not, nor should be defined by how many fouettés she executes." Sending love, Luna!
Oh I love this comment real bad. Ballet can move you to tears if the dancer is connected to the movement not counting her pirouettes. Luna you blow us all away!
i think it is so brave of you to make the decision to take the fouettes out after they've been such a stress for you, it's so so hard to admit when something isn't right for you when you've been working so hard for it! also the second costume looked completely gorgeous
The fact that you found a circular path and performed through those feelings and changed last minute. Is IS I say, the definition of a professional. My past teachers words to you. Everyone has to change something at some point. And the fact that you did that. Is what others want to know, and see, in someone that they respect. Those kids did get a lesson and inspiration that will help them at life and dance. You nailed that whole thing, way more than you realize.
I want you to be so very proud of yourself that you even wanted to challenge yourself in the first place. You are such an amazing dancer and I don't want you to feel that even though the rehearsal for Snow didn't go as planned, that you aren't good enough; because you absolutely are. You have inspired me in so many ways over the years and I don't want you to lose sight of all of your accomplishments, on and off the dance floor. Bad rehearsals never define you. If anything, they strengthen you and when you do finally get the outcome you want, you will be that much more proud of yourself for going and doing something out of your comfort zone. YOU ARE AWESOME LUNA! Continue to reach for the stars!!!
As a lifelong performer (classical musician) with OCD and an unhealthy drive towards perfectionism, I feel this so hard. From an outside perspective it looked BEAUTIFUL, but I 100% get that feeling of disappointment/failure and how that triggers all the awful inner voices. I think it is amazing that you challenged yourself and quite frankly are trying to heal from past trauma from ballet all the while pushing yourself to your limits. And I hope you find some peace in knowing that you succeeded, even if it wasn't perfect or the best you know you are capable of. I'm honestly so excited to see your arabian performance, you're an amazing dancer to watch.
I watched the English national ballet nutcracker yesterday and the principal ballerina fell out of her fouettés so don’t feel ashamed you did beautifully BE PROUD ❤️
There is a definite lack of technique but she is too old to acquire it now . Her arabesque is completely crooked and the line is so off .she is a pretty ballet studio dancer , not a professional .

even though the outcome wasn't what you wanted, i still think you danced beautifully and i am so proud of you for taking on this journey and challenging yourself. it's ok if things take longer than expected, that's all part of the process. everyone messes up at times and it's never easy to achieve your goal, but the fact that you worked so hard means so much. i know it'll all pay off in the long run, just might take more time than you originally thought ,which is 100% ok!! can't imagine dancing through that mental pain, proud of you luna
this is the realest thing youve ever posted- the whole in your head feeling and feeling like you're LITERALLY blind and unable to understand where you are was SO real. snow was the death of me.
The comments in this section make me so happy to see people understand the art of ballet when it comes to a show not the sport technicalities. Because it’s great to always be striving to achieve certain techniques but to also be able to simply enjoy the art of it all, keep your love for dance and the storytelling! Much love to you Luna! ❤
You are an absolutely stunning dancer. Anyone that has even slightly tried ballet knows that your performance shows so much dedication to your craft. Don’t be discouraged, you are inspiring so many people!
Dancers really have a way of being so hard on themselves for mistakes the average person cannot comprehend. I actually loved the change without the fouettés - it felt lighter and more like snow! And I LOVED the tutu you ended up wearing. You looked angelic on stage, even if you didn’t feel it. And as a fellow dancer, I know you won’t believe that (again, we dancers are perfectionists to our core), but you really are inspiring so many young dancers and are proving that you can follow your dreams, no matter what path you take. Proud of you either way. ❤ And you know what? You can start working on fouettés again when you feel ready, and then you’ll be set for next year! Excited for part 2, because you are absolutely the Arabian QUEEN.
Luna your videos bring me so much comfort. As someone who has a huge passion for dance and also struggles with OCD your videos make me feel so seen. You looked absolutely gorgeous on stage, your performance was breathtaking. You are my favorite ballerina to watch ❤
Luna, I have OCD and used to do theater performances constantly, so I totally understand your whole talk about OCD making it so much harder to stay present/in your body while on stage. It's always a struggle to let go rather than to hyperfixate on little things. Although I know little about ballet, your performances are always mesmerizing and transport me to another place, which I think is what ballet/performance art is all about. Best wishes to you as you finish out 2024 and I can't wait to see the great things you do in the future!
luna, i literally sobbed watching your snow queen stage. As a retired dancer who has experienced so many of the things you talk about and struggle with, it really took me back to all the times when I had those same feelings after a performance. Now, i watch them and laugh because they were soo good even when I thought they were shit. You looked beautiful and elegant on stage, and I know in the moment nothing anyone says makes you feel better when you think youve done a bad performance, but I promise you you were stunning.
I grew up dancing in the nutcracker and have seen a ton of versions over the years, your version of the snow queen was gorgeous. What you came up with was so much more visually appealing than watching fouetté turns!
you are so brave for even taking the role of snow queen because it is terribly difficult even for advanced dancers. no role gets easier with age, so even taking the role is s huge step to success. we love love love u luna
Luna you absolutely killed it!!! i know i wasnt the way you expected and as a dancer feeling good about your performance is the best but keep in mind that dance HAS to be FUN! you did amazing, spend time with your best friends so that also counts into the experience! excited for arabian!!! lov u
Luna you are AMAZING as a young dancer I look up to you and I think your dancing is beautiful Be confident and don’t be afraid of failure I love you sooo much❤
"It felt like I had legs for the first time" Ugh, I felt like that on stage before. Horrible. It's so frustrating when you KNOW the outcome doesn't reflect how hard you've worked. But the stamina you gained from training for two roles will benefits you so much. Let's look onwards to 2025!
I feel so sorry for you because you put everything you had into this and it didn't end up the way you wanted... don't let it beat you down and learn from it that the most important thing is to enjoy every moment you get on stage❤
I just have to say, following your whole snow queen journey has been so rewarding for all of us. I know you had this ideal in your mind and it is so painful to have not met that, but at the end of it all you worked your a$$ off and showed up beautifully on stage and shared honestly with all of us. It takes SO much more bravery to share about trying something genuinely and not feeling successful. You should be proud of that-it shows more about who you are and your mettle than any stupid fouettés ever could
I know it can be hard not to meet your own expectations, but I look up to you as a role model for showing us how imperfection can be embraced. Love you Luna 🩷❄️
Luna!!! You are a STUNNING performer. Totally understand your disappointment but these things happen and as artists we have to learn how to give ourselves grace in times like these. You should still be proud of yourself!!!
Luna, you looked and danced so beautifully 🥰 You are the definition of a strong professional dancer. You were flexible, listened to your body AND still got up there and performed. You never once gave up! You are an inspiration. Love you girl ❤
Kara rallying for you was so sweet and I am so glad that you have a friend like her. I also really appreciate how honest you’ve been in your struggles throughout the entire process. I struggle with imperfections, and this has made me feel a little less alone.
You looked great and danced beautifully! Thank you for taking us on this journey and being vulnerable with us ❤ it takes so much strength and bravery to openly reflect on difficult performances
girl i totally get how you feel. i get in my head really bad during dance. i go to a dance school and i had to do jewels from sleeping beauty and little swans and i was in the exact spot you were in. its hard bc i did not believe in myself what so ever but i’ve realized that im never gonna be the best dancer and dancing freely and out of my head is way more rewarding then hyper fixation on the little things i did wrong. i know that’s easier said then done but realizing what ur doing like changing your shoes bc you don’t trust yourself is good step. soo trust yourself girl. snow is sooo hard i get it but your stamina has definitely improved and i believe you didn’t need to remove the turns girl. you are an amazing dancer and i look up to u.
Luna - I loved the improv! And the performance :) your perceived failure brought your audience joy! that being said, I think so many of us can relate to working so hard for something, truly putting our all into it, and still not having the outcome we want. It’s really difficult, and I’m sending you love :)) thank you for your vulnerability in sharing this! I hope someday you come back to snow…even if it’s just in a studio alone…and are able to dance it and feel free.
Hi Luna! Usually I never comment on videos, but yours this time spoke to me. I am a classical musician and I can really understand the frustration and all the feelings you were talking about after the show. as we grow up professionally, we are taught that everything has to be perfect, and I believe this has a huge impact on many artists like you and me Perfection is not “human” and maybe we should embrace that every show is unique in its own way! Your performance was beautiful and unique ❤ Sending you big hugs, Lucia from Italy xx
From one dancer to another, I completely empathize with you on hyper fixating on the small negative things, and not being present in the moment. Taking the turns out does not equal failure, it’s about going out there and showcasing what you feel most confident doing to be your best. Doing one show is hard too, because there’s always a feeling to go back and improve, but it was stunning regardless. And that second costume?! GORGE! Love your vlogs, keep doing you💗
Luna my love you’re so hard on yourself. Trust that most ppl are not even aware as to what perfect form looks like. I think a majority of the audience would never know anything was “off” bc most of us just enjoy how beautiful ballet is to watch. The only ppl super aware of that stuff might be a teacher… like girl just enjoy your life. You’re only this young once.
Honestly Luna, I am so beyond proud of you! I know it was a tough journey along the way especially mentally but you did such a beautiful job! And I am proud of you for making it this far and making it to the show! I know you really wanted to do the fouettes but I think it looks better on camera than you think. This is just a learning curve and you will continue to grow as a dancer every year and it shows through your performances. I completely understand you and how you work so hard for it and then it ends up having to be changed or fixed but you made it look so effortlessly beautiful! Very beyond proud of you
I love how you are able to share this- I am an athlete as well and can totally relate to your experience with the mental side of performing. It’s so amazing to hear someone who shares the same experiences as me, and is also so open and brave when talking about it.
Thanks for being honest and vulnerable, it’s inspiring and relatable. I can’t imagine someone watching that and being as harsh on you as you are on yourself unless they are a troll and a psycho tbh. You’re so talented and such a beautiful dancer. I hope I can get as good as you someday! Having hard days are the days we build character and deepen our relationship with ourselves. What’s precious and important is your dancing spirit ❤️
You can't even tell the bit instead of the fouettés isn’t supposed to be there. It was amazing and looked perfect. Also Luna that second tutu look stunning on you, the bigger tutu works so well with your long legs.
Luna, I'm proud of you! You did what you had to do in the end--taking out the fouettes at that time was the right decision. You danced beautifully, and only professional dancers would have noticed the timidness. I don't have OCD, but I do have severe anxiety (enough that I can't even work anymore), and I understand being so stuck in your head you can't let go. You are courageous, in your perseverance and your dedicated effort. I know you do therapy--are there meditations or breathing exercises that help get you through? I would love if you shared some of those, I'm sure it would help others! Love you, and I can't wait to see your Arabian performances!
Luna! You did beautifully! You looked strong and graceful even if you didn’t feel it- you need to give yourself more grace!! Can’t wait to see pt. 2 for Arabian! 💖💖💖💖
I had the honor of watching you during the Sunday evening show and you were absolutely stunning. As a complete stranger on the internet, I was so proud to see you dance so beautifully. Three people made me gasp out loud on that stage from how beautiful it was - You, Tiler and Roman
.. I got chills when Snow started.. ✨literally.. 19:22 and you looked beautiful and danced with joy as a Queen would.. audiences have a much different experience..! loved you..Grandmar!🤌💪❤️
your final performance was gorgeous! you looked like you were actually dancing your steps, and were giving confidence ❄️ also, i actually love the new tutu, the all white is beautiful
I really understand how you felt. It’s a terrible feeling failing a goal we set for ourselves. Just keep in mind that now you are a stronger person -you have less to prove to others-you are freer. Freer to rebuild and to develop in your own pace. I just want to tell you that you look beautiful on stage. Your character is shining through your movements while you’re dancing and it’s truly fascinating💖
Be proud of yourself girl! I recently had a similar experience where I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and it just didn’t work out the way I was hoping. What I had to keep telling myself was that while I didn’t achieve my goal I accomplished more than I ever thought I could and for that I was proud of myself. I hope you can look back and be proud of what you were able to accomplish and that you pushed yourself towards a new experience.
luna you did so absolutely beautiful and i look up to you so so much! i totally relate to the way you’re feeling in the fact that my perfectionism made nutcracker so absolutely miserable for me this year. i got the role of dew drop this year and because that has been my dream role for so long, i absolutely tore myself to shreds over it. i had to take my fouettés out last second because i just got into my head too much and let my anxiety about them get the best of me. it’s the absolute worst feeling because you feel like there’s so much pressure from everyone around you to be perfect when in all reality it’s just you who is putting the pressure on yourself. anyways, thank you for showing us the reality that comes with dance, it makes us who also struggle to not feel so alone:) i love you so much!
Luna! I’ve been looking forward to this video so much! Proud of you for listening to what your mind and body needed! You looked and danced absolutely beautiful, I hope you can look past the frustrations and still be proud of yourself! Can’t wait for part 2 ❤
So proud of you, Luna 🥰 you were so great and the dance was so beautiful!! I get the frustration, I used to dance too and it sucks if things don't go the right way 😢 but you did so great! You created something as artistic and as beautiful as the original choreography! I didn't even notice it at first because your dance felt so natural. If it helps, try having a fck it attitude whenever you're overthinking. Sometimes you just really need to let go for things to come naturally. I know it's easier said than done but it might help-even for a little bit. So before any performance jusy say fck it i'm going to own the stage with no mistakes and injuries, i'll be one with the music. Always rooting for you!!
Luna, I am inspired by your perseverance and continuing to learn and push yourself. For next year, I hope you will look at those steps as another battle to win. I man this is a good way. There is an amazing story you would love about a speed skater named Dan Jansen who had a similar mountain to climb. Look up his olympic career, especially the 1000 meter race. The story of his journey is so inspiring and I think you would love it. Your dancing is lovely!
I have been rewatching allll your theatre vlogs while waiting for this one haha you are seriously my comfort youtuber 🥰🥰 ty for your honesty with us always
As a dancer when I was watching you perform snow queen in the dress rehearsal footage the only thing that was going through my mind was...shes doing so well!!!! Trust me, you look great. I know that you see little imperfections in your dancing. but that performance you gave could be the reason ten little kids start dance lessons. Try looking at the bigger picture, you got an amazing opportunity, you took it worked hard, and tried your best. That's still a win!
Lunaaaa you were stunning! I used to perform and suggest if you are in your head maybe you can do some therapy sessions leading up for the performance? I would get panic attacks and it just genuinely helped with the mental aspect. You are so real for even talking about all of this and I’m so proud of you for taking a difficult role 🧡
Your dancing was so beautiful. It seems like you were so far into your head by show time, but I have no doubt that the audience was transfixed by the beauty of the performance.
Luna, I'm honestly so proud of you. I think it may have been worse to force something that didn't feel right for you to begin with. Your new improv looked beautiful, and you handled everything with such grace. Love you, and rooting for you! ♡
luna you're just simply incredible...and you looked BEAUTIFULLLL!! i saw tiler at the nycb this year and the fact you're performing with her is amazing
luna your performances are always beautiful to watch even though there are a millions things going on in your head just trust yourself because you can do it ❤
Girl you had a good career so far and you're a very accomplished dancer with some shows and experience under your belt. I think It ok and perfectly respectable to retire if you feel like its too much of a strain on your body and mental heath. from the rehearsal footage its seems like your having some muscle atrophy which is totally normal for a dancer your age and is nothing to worry about but you don't want to push yourself too far and make the rest of your life physically painful. I pushed myself too far and ended up retiring at a younger age than you and I think even that was too long to push myself and now I have knee, back and hip problems. Just put your health first and know when its time to move on, do it for yourself
Luna!!! A few years back Arabian was harder for you too! But now you‘ve done it more often and didnt even RECOGNIZE the huge achievement that is being able to do it so worry free now!!! Pls give yourself credit for how far you‘ve come and your Snow Queen was beautifulllllll!!!!!!!! ❤
I too used to practice until I got a move right yet it is OK to sometimes remove something that you are scared of falling or hurting yourself or not comfortable with. Dance is fun and it does not make one less good of a dancer if they can not do a move. I am 1.75cm and always found it difficult to do hand free wheels and such which short dancers were easily doing.
i'm a professional actress, and i assure you, i have felt this feeling EXACTLY. i recently did a performance where i had to sing a really challenging high note and, i kid you not, i got so scared that i didn't even try to sing it. i cried as soon as i was done, and for the rest of the day i felt like a black hole. when your an artist, no one tells you what to do when your at the top of your game, but the lowest you've ever felt. you are such a beautiful dancer and you put so much effort into those fouttes, but sometimes you can't keep all the negative self-talk from weighing down your body. if i could give one word of advice, it would be to find a way out of the black hole. it is so easy for artists to spiral, and for me, talking to someone always helps because i know they perceive my performance as it truly is. so much love, you are doing amazing
Girl, Tchaikovsky himself thought he failed this ballet when in reality it still is one of the most beautiful pieces to exist. Trust me, you didn't fail, who cares you took the 17 fouttes out? girl i totally get how you feel. i get in my head really bad during dance. i go to a dance school and i had to do jewels from sleeping beauty and little swans and i was in the exact spot you were in. its hard bc i did not believe in myself what so ever but i’ve realized that im never gonna be the best dancer and dancing freely and out of my head is way more rewarding then hyper fixation on the little things i did wrong. i know that’s easier said then done but realizing what ur doing like changing your shoes bc you don’t trust yourself is good step. soo trust yourself girl. snow is sooo hard i get it but your stamina has definitely improved and i believe you didn’t need to remove the turns girl. you are an amazing dancer and i look up to u.
OMG!. luna you are so gorgeous! 13:13 this all performance was so good
Hi Luna! Usually I never comment on videos, but yours this time spoke to me. I am a classical musician and I can really understand the frustration and all the feelings you were talking about after the show.
as we grow up professionally, we are taught that everything has to be perfect, and I believe this has a huge impact on many artists like you and me
Perfection is not “human” and maybe we should embrace that every show is unique in its own way!
Your performance was beautiful and unique ❤
Sending you big hugs,
Lucia from Italy xx
Luna, you inspired me to go see the nutcracker in San Diego and it was so lovely. Thank you.
They didn’t do the fuetes btw!
GORGE! Love your vlogs, keep doing you💗
Changing something last minute for someone with OCD is BOLD girl. Congratulations on your progress
Ahhhh I am so excited for this vlog!! It's always so magical and personal
You're so amazing, luna ! Don't be sad about foeuttes. You're turns are amazing and you are so brave to improv onstage ❤
i love how excited you and kara are to see each other always
Thanks for being honest and vulnerable, it’s inspiring and relatable. I can’t imagine someone watching that and being as harsh on you as you are on yourself unless they are a troll and a psycho tbh. You’re so talented and such a beautiful dancer. I hope I can get as good as you someday! Having hard days are the days we build character and deepen our relationship with ourselves. What’s precious and important is your dancing spirit ❤️
fouetté schmouetté, it's okay baby girl! you don't have to be so hard on yourself! wishing you self compassion for the rest of your performances
Luna, don t cry. We love you!!!!❤
I really understand how you felt. It’s a terrible feeling failing a goal we set for ourselves. Just keep in mind that now you are a stronger person -you have less to prove to others-you are freer. Freer to rebuild and to develop in your own pace. I just want to tell you that you look beautiful on stage. Your character is shining through your movements while you’re dancing and it’s truly fascinating💖
these vlogs made my year!!! so proud of you luna! xxx
Luna you were AMAZING!!!!! I'm so glad you had Kara + others there to support you. Congrats on 1mil on TIKTOK!!!!
I feel that way too and you know what, you danced 10x better then I ever have had that feeling gorgeous 🩷
THE WAY IVE BEEN WAITINGGG AND ITS TWO PARTS OMGOMG I LOVE YOU
luna u did amazing!! and i think ur artistry in that section was better then the fouettés🤗
luna you did so absolutely beautiful and i look up to you so so much! i totally relate to the way you’re feeling in the fact that my perfectionism made nutcracker so absolutely miserable for me this year. i got the role of dew drop this year and because that has been my dream role for so long, i absolutely tore myself to shreds over it. i had to take my fouettés out last second because i just got into my head too much and let my anxiety about them get the best of me. it’s the absolute worst feeling because you feel like there’s so much pressure from everyone around you to be perfect when in all reality it’s just you who is putting the pressure on yourself. anyways, thank you for showing us the reality that comes with dance, it makes us who also struggle to not feel so alone:) i love you so much!
Luna! I’ve been looking forward to this video so much! Proud of you for listening to what your mind and body needed! You looked and danced absolutely beautiful, I hope you can look past the frustrations and still be proud of yourself! Can’t wait for part 2 ❤
all your friends seem so sweet and supportive
Why did I cry watching you dance snow queen!? Well done Luna!!
You did amazing! You’re literally my biggest inspiration, i hope one day i can dance as well as you are! You did it! So proud of you
Luna, I am inspired by your perseverance and continuing to learn and push yourself.
Your performance was beautiful I couldn't stop watching you did an excellent job🎉 congratulations and well done
Honestly there are so many more moves that are more beautiful and creative than fouettés, you’re amazing!
Even though Snow didn't go as planned you still persevered and did such a good job. I'm so proud of you.
You looked beautiful dancing snow queen! I know it wasnt the outcome you wanted but you worked so hard to get there and that's what matters❤
I started ballet because of you! You are such a sweet heart ! ❤merry Christmas
YOU LOOKED ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, STUNNING & DID WONDERFULLY!
how a supportive and caretaker friend is cara for you🥹🥹
Luna you did absolutely remarkable job! So proud of you 💚💚🎅🏻🎅🏻❤️🎄❤️❤️❤️💚❤️❤️💚💚🎁🎁🎁🎁🎄🎄☃️🌨️🌨️💚🎅🏻❤️🌨️🌨️❤️🌨️🌨️🌨️🎅🏻🎅🏻🎄☃️☃️💚💚
We can only fail if we try. You should be proud of yourself for giving it a shot. You are amazing and you inspire a lot of people, including me! ❤️
i’m glad you and kara shared a dressing room so kara could give you a pep talk. we’re so proud of you luna!
luna you're just simply incredible...and you looked BEAUTIFULLLL!! i saw tiler at the nycb this year and the fact you're performing with her is amazing
I'm still so proud of you Luna
luna your performances are always beautiful to watch even though there are a millions things going on in your head just trust yourself because you can do it ❤
I looooove these vlogs. That's part of my holidays!
I was having the worst day. This is exactly what I needed. Thank you so much Luna!❤️
“Efforts may lie, but they will never be in vain.”
Watching your videos while stretching 🤝🏼🩰
proud of you luna
I love the costume for the snow queen❤😂
You looked stunning. I totally get the head game telling you something different, but genuinely you were stunning.
Perfection! You got this!! Don't feel alone I have cried at work too. It's perfectly fine. Don't beat yourself up so much.
i'm a professional actress, and i assure you, i have felt this feeling EXACTLY. i recently did a performance where i had to sing a really challenging high note and, i kid you not, i got so scared that i didn't even try to sing it. i cried as soon as i was done, and for the rest of the day i felt like a black hole. when your an artist, no one tells you what to do when your at the top of your game, but the lowest you've ever felt. you are such a beautiful dancer and you put so much effort into those fouttes, but sometimes you can't keep all the negative self-talk from weighing down your body. if i could give one word of advice, it would be to find a way out of the black hole. it is so easy for artists to spiral, and for me, talking to someone always helps because i know they perceive my performance as it truly is. so much love, you are doing amazing
