Now for a flip side check out him singing Rolling in the Deep live at the AOL festival. Chester gives goosebumps regardless of what he sings. He was incredible
Your entire reaction at 10:50 is so wholesome and priceless. The surprise, followed by even more surprise that builds into uncontainable giddiness-and the lingering smile and passion afterward. You _get_ it :D As far as songs go, "Place For My Head" is iconic, "Leave Out All The Rest" is softer and heart-wrenching, and "In Pieces" is unique and has some interesting harmony in the second verse.

I’ve heard this song a billion times and seen several reaction videos to this song. You’re the only person who has mentioned the “sigh” like quality. I can hear it now from the way you explained it.
Waited 11 minutes to see your reaction to his scream. Was not disappointed. The feeling dripping from it hits me and chokes me up, every time. The depth of the "I'm over it all" is so raw and relatable. This is one of my top 10 songs and I'm so pleased that you enjoyed it.
Watching the vocal instructors get there face blown off by the scream is literally my favorite part. Just picturing being a High school senior and this song drops when teen angst is at an all time high. No wonder my class thought we were invincible. Chester changed and save so many lives including my life. RIP...
I remember hearing this song for the first time and just goosebumps all over 😊 I still get it listening to when he screams “god” and the obvious super long scream.
When they were recording this song Mike kept telling Chester to do a longer scream and Chester got tried of that and just did a 17 second scream. Afterwards Chester realized he would have to do that live and wished he had done a 10 second scream instead. Chester wrote the lyrics to this song just after getting out of rehab in 2005. He brought this song and several others to Linkin Park. He wrote this about his struggles with dealing with his divorce from his first wife Samantha. He used music to help him deal with his feelings in a healthier way than turning to drugs and alcohol all the time. This song was a way for Chester to tell the fans how he felt during and after his divorce.
Once you learn how to do harsh vocals in a healthy way, this often becomes one of your favourite songs for that sustain. I actually used this song to intentionally practice holding a scream for as long as I can while ALSO being able to manipulate it and bring down it's pitch over time. I've gotten to a whopping 28 second scream doing this now by learning circular breathing and intentionally taking a big breath just before it. Chester was a vocal legend who was the FIRST person to introduce to me anything other than compression or anything that resembles an actual scream. His influence on my music, and ultimately my life path after becoming a vocalist, will forever be an important aspect of my Journey. Losing Chester was the first time a celebrity passing ever actually effected me in any way, for for about 18 months I couldn't listen to LP without breaking down. I've since gone on to listen to MUCH more intense music, but I will never forget those roots and often come back to them for their nostalgia, and because let's be honest, Chester can SING!
That was so brilliant when you reach the moment of the extended scream, watching your entire physical expression of astonishment is so rewarding and I was so anxious to rewind to experience it again I accidentally exited the video and threw my remote. 😅 Thank you for that.
11:15 when i first lisntened to this song i was a kid and did not like screaming songs, but then i grow up and listened to it again after 8 years and this looooooooong screm gave goosebumps too, i couldn´t stop to repeating this song for a week
You definitely have to react QWERTY live in japan 2006, he mix scream and cleans in seconds. Chester's greatest virtue wasn't just his voice or his scream; it was his PASSION and INTERPRETATION when singing. He conveyed his emotions exceptionally well, reflecting them in his magnificent voice. This is why he is so admired by many vocalists in today's modern metal bands.
In his held scream, the fact that he is able to hold the same note is absolutely insane. And being able to change the note in the middle of the scream without flinching and still holding the note perfectly... This song in particular hits home for me on a regular basis and I do listen to it almost everyday.... Chester was a vocal talent beyond imagination. Some people think he's just screaming... but his vocals are insane.
Agreed, it takes a tremendous amount of muscle and airflow control to be able to do this well, and do it consistently. I have a pretty good idea of how he does it, and on a good day I can do something close, but knowing how to do it and repeating it flawlessly time after time are two extremely different things.
Hey, I'm so glad to see a reaction video to this song and 100% can confirm seeing Chester live twice when Linkin Park Toured WA and he was hands down perfect both times, it was like I was listening to the CD. RIP Chester, his voice is unmatched I don't know if there will ever be another singer quite like him.
Came here after your Grönemeyer video cause I just love LinkinPark and I'm already convinced your reactions are the best out there. In a way its so nice to see you get in the zone and really feel the songs youre listening to/watching, your facial expression tell a story if that makes sense. Great work!
It's so wonderful to watch her listen! Especially when you know that she is hearing it for the first time, incredible, authentic emotional reactions on her face and in her whole presence! Incredibly touching to see! I've loved her and this format from the very first second! Saw it by chance last week because of Metallica! It moved me to tears to see her emotionally shake and experience live and to experience the same emotions myself, just as Siebes discusses and authentically shows what these artists, all the performers, have created! She is the additional proof of the effect of this music, of these artists, which should impress the artists themselves just as much. She, as an unbiased listening and watching artist, reflects the effect of the art form of music on an unbiased person with all its emotions. Unbelievable. I love it, thank you very much.
The reason I like your reactions to a lot of these types of song is because I can see it in your face that you *feel* it. You get the rock rictus! You're completely focused in, halfway between a snarl and a grin. You said something like "once in my life, I ended up in a mosh pit and it did not end well for me - but here, I want it." Rest in Peace Chester. I was lucky to see LP live 4 times. My all time favorite band. Chester and Chris Cornell (rest in peace Chris) from Audio Slave were great friend's. No one paid attention to their lyrics when both were alive, but listening to both of all their songs after their deaths, you come to realize they were both screaming out for help. 😢
I had the honor of seeing LP live, and during the performance Chester held a scream for what i swear must have been a minute. One of the most talented artists of all time and just an utter tragedy that the demons that fueled his success would eventually claim his life. RIP Chester.
When you listen to the lyrics of Linkin Park in hindsight of what ultimately happened with Chester, it's quite sad. Most of their songs he is crying for help. Brilliant singer.
This is one of my very favourite songs and still gets me emotional with the way Chester sings. Your face at the sustained scream was mine too when I first heard this song haha. I would recommend, if you want to hear how intense Chester can get with the vocals and the performance, check the live version of the song from Clarkston. He was really incredible.
HOLY SMOKES!! So there are actors I like alot because I BELIEVE them when they perform like Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, etc. And this guy is that to the power of 10!!! Usually they are believable because there is truth behind such a attack!! Don't know all the lyrics but he seemed to have packed a chunk of real estate upon his shoulder. Whew! Awesome Reaction! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL 💖🥳🎉 Peace 🕊️☮️
Definitely not an actor. It was very public and well known that Chester Bennington struggled with mental health. He eventually committed suicide by hanging.
@@allengray5748 That would be the whole band, but most of all, Mike Shinoda. Mike put out an album called Post Traumatic, where most of the songs were him dealing with him losing his best friend. Some of those songs are tough to listen to, but they are also straight from the heart and amazing at the same time.
I just discovered your channel at about midnight. It's almost 6 am now lol. Watching you discover all these fav 90s bands of mine is like rediscovering them myself. I hope you do more of those. 🎸🤟
Awh man! I knew LP when Chester was alive, but after he passed, listening to LP was like discovering a whole new band and boy was his pain / suicide so obvious when listening to the lyrics of almost all the songs he wrote… RIP Chester and sorry for really really really digging into your music AFTER you’ve given up and throw the towel on this reality
Thank you so much. I love seeing and hearing people talk about Chester's long scream, and being amazed by it. I've seen too many reactors barley react, or not even react at all. How can anyone not hear that man's amazing voice produce that long scream, and not be amazed? I think you voice coaches are the most impressed because you know how difficult is it to do that. Great reaction, thank you. R.I.P. Chester Bennington
If you really want to see Chester live with pure raw energy and sing with his heart, watch the Live in Texas version Of "A Place For My Head". BTW, "Given Up" is my favorite LP song, but they have so many incredible songs, it's hard to chose a #1.
The way he could add distortion to his voice and take it away immediately is so unique to him. His voice is so smooth and clean and then he just ATTACKS you with those distorted screams. Even if it's not your bag, you gotta admit the guy was a talented vocalist. I'm really bummed I never saw them live when they were in their prime in the early to mid 00's. I would listen to Hybrid Theory and Meteora on repeat when I was having particularly bad days. Chester was the best therapist that the world didn't even know that it needed at the time. LP's music was a balm to so many tortured souls. RIP Chester. You were just different man.
Their cover of Rolling in the deep is very cool. Yes, Chester is extremely tired there and might miss a note here and there but it's worth a watch :) Btw, it's awesome to experience this song as if for the first time, through your eyes. I remember having this reaction as a 13 year old discovering them for the first time.
I've heard this song hundreds of times and it still brings tears to my eyes hearing Chester sing his truth. Every word of this song hits my soul so hard. We miss you Chester
I don't ever remember you watching something so intensely while letting yourself bop along to the music. It was obvious that you felt this one the way we all did. The end scream may have been the final destination, but watching you take the journey was great. Thank you for being genuine.
Also when he sings "I hyperventilate" do you notice how he makes his voice shake just like someone actually hyperventilating!! It's the stuff like that that just pulls you in to his vocals. God dang he was awesome.
loved this!! please react to “one more light live (chris cornel tribute)”. this particular version was performed to memorialize cornel’s passing, it’s insanely emotional
I was blessed enough to listen to this live, and you’re right….putting into words is just impossible. This is something you experience and feel and just absorb. This is a top performance and the fact that it just delivered even more in live performance is EPIC!

You need to watch his live Jimmy Kimmel live performance of One More Light that he did right after his good friend Chris Cornell killed himself. Powerful performance, great, fitting song for the circumstance. You can feel the genuine anguish and grief especially in the final cry of the song. To keep composure in that moment to the extent that he did with what you know he was feeling in the moment speaks for his level as a performer, his love for his friend and the sincerity of the lyrics in his song. It's beautiful.
Watching her discover all this music for the first time is so satisfying!! She now knows what all of us who grew up with this music felt like for the first time!! I am no vocal coach but a big empathetic person and I can feel the emotions I felt cruising through her as well. Fascinating!
Lost in the echo live in Japan and QWERTY live in Tokyo. The first showcases the band & Mine a little bit more than just Chester, but Chester has a huge impact on that. QWERTY showcases Chester's ability to rapidly switch from distortion to clean vocals.
I was lucky to see Chester perform front row at the shoreline amphitheater before he passed. Years back. He did the most amazing thing I’ll never forget before his set. He was doing like some kind of voice pitch tuning with the monitors on the stage. He vocals sounded like an instrument I never heard anything like it in my life. RIP.
I recommend you listen to their new song Lost! Came out this year, and Chester's voice is just amazing in it. Definitely subscribing to see what else you cover
I was lucky enough to catch them a handful of time live (including a small concert for a transformers premier) and the energy that Chester had on stage was AMAZING.
2 days ago, I checked to see if you had a reaction video for this song and when I couldn't see it, I thought it would be nice if you did it. Now look at the video I came across :) Can you react to Şebnem Ferah - Delgeç live from Istanbul concert you gonna love it :)
Chester's death for me was (and still is) the biggest tragedy of all the deaths of public people ever. I still feel the unbearable pain of what happened and I still can't believe it. His shit in his head was always bothering him. It's the same with me. He tried to explain what the problem was, but it just wasn't working. I feel the same. It's a hard-to-explain immensity that presses down on you and only a few can understand. That's why it's so sensitive to me. Chaz is a legend. For real. R. I. P. 11:00 yeah, and this is exactly the kind of reaction I expected at this point 👍🏻
I know you’ve done Chris Cornell recently but have you had a chance to listen to the live acoustic version of “As Hope and Promise Fade”? I think it’s probably the most dynamic live vocals I’ve heard
I'm curious about your reaction to the song Cem Karaca - Islak Islak, who is a Turkish State Artist. I think it's going to be the most impressive sound you'll ever hear!
I think 17 seconds is the record, at least as far as metal is concerned. Tatiana of Jinjer holds one for 13 seconds in Perennial, and I thought that was extraordinary, but Chester still has her beat by four whole seconds.
I'm a 40 year old classically trained vocalist/drummer who grew up hard AF (musically of course!) and kept to my roots. I have a tremendous amount of appreciation for Chester and his artistic talents and he will be terribly missed by those who struggled to find their own voice in that time of their life. His work with Mike shouldn't be overlooked and there are so many other amazing artists that you should consider introducing yourself to. RUclips would appreciate your reaction if nothing else that's for sure!

One of the most talented artists of all time and just an utter tragedy that the demons that fueled his success would eventually claim his life.
RIP Chester.
That’s 17 seconds of pure pain and beauty, it amazes me how many people were shocked over his death like have you not been listening to him?
I love this so much; your face during THE scream is the reason I follow you. Epic. Legend. Thank you.
When you listen to the lyrics of Linkin Park in hindsight of what ultimately happened with Chester, it's quite sad. Most of their songs he is crying for help. Brilliant singer.
I love this channel so much! I just found it tonight and it's like getting to hear all of my old favorites for the 1st time. This is so awesome!
Agreed, the Clarkston performance is SO insane, one of his most intense performances!
-OH MY GOSH I HAVE GOOSEBUMPS!!
-ME TOO MAM, ME TOO! And I've been listening to that song since it came out!!
He eventually took his own life due to his strained mental health. The man, like so many who do this, gave til he had nothing left
Definitely not an actor. It was very public and well known that Chester Bennington struggled with mental health.
He eventually committed suicide by hanging.
@@Alfaqwad Dang. Can't imagine or being the friend wishing he could have done something. ☮️
@@allengray5748 That would be the whole band, but most of all, Mike Shinoda. Mike put out an album called Post Traumatic, where most of the songs were him dealing with him losing his best friend. Some of those songs are tough to listen to, but they are also straight from the heart and amazing at the same time.
@@peterworth9403 Going to have to check it out. Thanks Peter.☮️
I just discovered your channel at about midnight. It's almost 6 am now lol. Watching you discover all these fav 90s bands of mine is like rediscovering them myself. I hope you do more of those. 🎸🤟
These lyrics, and many other songs he wrote, made a lot more sense after he committed suicide. RIP.
Yeah most people don't realize this.
Yes, Chester is extremely tired there and might miss a note here and there but it's worth a watch :)
Btw, it's awesome to experience this song as if for the first time, through your eyes. I remember having this reaction as a 13 year old discovering them for the first time.
I've heard this song hundreds of times and it still brings tears to my eyes hearing Chester sing his truth. Every word of this song hits my soul so hard. We miss you Chester
Hope you have a happy new year! Always fun seeing your reactions, takes us back to the first time we ever heard these songs!
I don't ever remember you watching something so intensely while letting yourself bop along to the music. It was obvious that you felt this one the way we all did. The end scream may have been the final destination, but watching you take the journey was great. Thank you for being genuine.
RIP Chester, we miss you. :(
Also when he sings "I hyperventilate" do you notice how he makes his voice shake just like someone actually hyperventilating!! It's the stuff like that that just pulls you in to his vocals. God dang he was awesome.
loved this!! please react to “one more light live (chris cornel tribute)”. this particular version was performed to memorialize cornel’s passing, it’s insanely emotional
19 seconds, counted on my watches! Impressive non the less! Chester was a Legend! May have looked at a different live version but it was 17 seconds.
My proposition is
Linkin Park - Somewhere I Belong (Live In Texas)
Watching you react to THE scream was the purest and most beautiful thing I've seen in a while.
Interested in long screams? Try "The Grudge" by Tool!
Given Up is such a power track by LP, your reaction was a delight
I was blessed enough to listen to this live, and you’re right….putting into words is just impossible. This is something you experience and feel and just absorb. This is a top performance and the fact that it just delivered even more in live performance is EPIC!
Bethany:
To really appreciate Chester's range, they did an acoustic version of Adele's Rolling in the Deep found here: ruclips.net/video/dHtwZ07N1ic/видео.html
If you like that one and want to be even more amazed, backstage practicing for that version, with no microphone, hunched over in a chair is this version: ruclips.net/video/Kc-BQHMFnSk/видео.html
100% agree! That cover opened my mind to the breadth of Chester’s talent… and this one always seems to come up when someone is cutting heaps of onions ruclips.net/video/0usJ9A61X60/видео.htmlsi=4f1GLT6c0krmdOaH
This might be the best reaction video to this song. Well done and thank you
You need to watch his live Jimmy Kimmel live performance of One More Light that he did right after his good friend Chris Cornell killed himself.
Your reaction to Chester’s 17+ second scream. Priceless!😂❤
I'm curious about your reaction to the song Cem Karaca - Islak Islak, who is a Turkish State Artist. I think it's going to be the most impressive sound you'll ever hear!
Seeing someone hearing and enjoying Linkin Park songs for the first time is soooo satisfying. I love your videos!
I think 17 seconds is the record, at least as far as metal is concerned. Tatiana of Jinjer holds one for 13 seconds in Perennial, and I thought that was extraordinary, but Chester still has her beat by four whole seconds.
I'm pretty sure there are several Judas Priest songs where Rob Halford goes for longer
Chester hold the scream for almost 26 seconds one time on live, i just can’t remember where. That was longest one he did, incredible.
Chester was a living legend .😊
uhh.....
@@eganburg Hmm
Rip Chester, may you and your amazing voice rest in peace .
