I have great respect towards this people. They kept the factory running after their supply chains collapsed, embargor and in the end being bombed. They rebuilt everything as best as they could and were working hard.

I'm an American whose Dad would often joke about getting me a 'Yugo' as my first car and the end of Zastava is one the most interesting car stories i've ever seen. Long live Zastava, the Koral, and the people who built them.

There is nothing wrong with old technology people today are spoilt with the flashy lights that break and cost too much to repair.

Totally agree. I can't imagine a better car than my '91 Accord 2DR with 318K miles; still a daily driver. Though I have other cars (including two MBs, actually!) the Honda's the go-to for a comfy fun ride with no thought involved. Nothing has ever had a better "greenhouse" and feeling of openness.

Why did they target civilian train? Why did they target Nish, bombing civilian areas with uran bombs? YU had strong tradition of socialism and real democracy (backed up with owning means of production), that had to be destroyed. After fall of SU, YU didn't had a chance.

It would have been a great idea, look at Lada. They had only horribly outdated cars when Renault bought it and now, with new investments, they have completely modernized all of their models, except for the immortal Niva. Now Lada is a competitive brand again and can dream of maybe being allowed in the EU market. Lada's reputation has been transformed.
Zastava on the other hand disappeared and only Italian cars are made, that's literally the worst that could have happened to the brand.

@@goncasworld I am totally agree but it is not too late to change the name of this serbian factory. I my opinion, everybody would be happy because Fiat would have a low cost trademark and Serbia would have again a national car manufacturer. It could be win/win.
